I read about the Facial Special for "Game Day" on your Facebook page, but since the spa had closed for the evening, I filled out an online form to be contacted the next morning. I did mention on the form that I was interested in the "Game Day Facial Special". I re-iterated that to the lady who I spoke with the next morning, and booked an appointment for 1 pm. I was so excited to get in the same day and finally get to try out your spa! I was told that a hold would be put on my credit card for the appointment (normal) and she said 3 pm and I corrected her to 1 pm. She also let me know she would email me some patient forms to fill out ahead of time - awesome! This was around 10 am and by 12:15, I had yet to receive an email, so I decided to head in early. I arrived at 12:45 and let her know that I never received the email. She told me my appointment wasn't until 3 pm. I reminded her about the conversation we had on the phone and I'd corrected her to 1 pm and she then said 1 pm. Unfortunately, she had put me down for 3 pm. I asked if we could do 1 pm since I was there and she said yes. She emailed me the form and I filled it out. Then she told me that they'd only be able to do a mini-facial...which is NOT what I wanted. Or I could have a massage. Also, not what I wanted. She then went and talked to someone about re-arranging her schedule and they must've figured it out because I was then told they could do the deluxe facial at 1 pm. By then it was a little after 1 pm. The person who did my facial (so sorry - can't remember her name - Carmen, maybe?) was great. Very good at explaining everything. It's a shame we started late (around 1:10, I remember looking at the clock as I was laying in the bed waiting). The facial was great - I enjoyed the products used (very seasonal smelling!) and the massage portion was super nice, too. It was a little light on the touch but that's my fault for not speaking up. When it was done, which was cut short (1:57) - I'm guessing to stay on schedule, she told me to get dressed and she'd meet me outside. I didn't realize she meant all the way at the front desk. I asked what kind of moisturizer she used, so she showed me. It wasn't until after I'd inquired about price that I was told I'd receive 15% off that since I had a service. I probably would've spent more on products had that been told to me as part of my end of service experience. When I went to check-out, I was told the normal price for the service, including a 15% gratuity. I told her I'd specifically scheduled for the Game Day special, and she said she wasn't aware of that. So to whoever does the social posts, please communicate to the rest of the staff what you've posted online! I also didn't realize the tip was added in to the total...that just kind of rubs me the wrong way. I almost always tip 20% - I didn't appreciate being told what I had to tip. We eventually got everything figured out and it wasn't until I left that I realized I didn't get the 15% off my product. Not a huge deal, it's just a couple bucks, but if you say you're going to do something, then do it. The specials the spa runs seem like great deals but the communication among the team is a little too messy for my taste. I'm not sure if I'll go back. read more

My husband got me a gift card to Spa Retreat for my birthday. Christy gave me a relaxing massage and really worked on my shoulders and neck which really helped me relax. The only problem was I was good for nothing afterwards because I was so relaxed! :) Anyway, she did an amazing job, and it was so peaceful and nice. The only thing is that the $80 gift card didn't cover the whole thing since they raised the price $10 since August (my birthday month). There was tax and tip. I recently visited the Spa Retreat and I enjoyed my services. I was there for a express manicure just to test the waters since this was my first manicure at this spa. The manicurist did a great job. The cost was $20 + %15 gratuity; total cost: $24 -something. I didn't plan to get the crackle look until I sat down and starting talk with the manicurist and I really like the final result. The plan was a neutral color (OPI Tickle My Francey) and then at the last minute I decided to give one nail on each hand a pop of color. So we decided that the hot pink base color and purple crackle color would look nice and we were right. They even sent me home with a nail file for FREE for maintenance between visits. Overall I am pleased and I will be a return client. Last month, I had a 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial living social deal which is how I was introduced to this spa initially. Here's the living social deal - Two Spa Treatments for $60 plus taxes and gratuity. Choice: Deluxe Facial, Full-Body Spa Massage, Sea Salt or Sugar Glow Body Treatment, or Spa Pedicure with Paraffin Wax Treatment. I absolutely loved my services! The massage was stern but not to strong and the facial was a facial with a mini massage. Janice massaged my legs, arms and back while the pumpkin enzymes where breaking down the dead skin on my face. I was not expecting the massage during the facial so I was pleasantly surprised. We got a chance to chat and I learned a lot about skin care. Towards the end Janice used this High Frequency thing which is an electrode that is used on skin for 3 - 5 minutes. The purpose is to kill bacteria on problem skin and is a germicidal, drying, and healing for those whom suffer problematic skin. I was leary at first because this was the first time that I saw such a thing but I am glad that it was used. This was totally refreshing spa day and spa retreat far exceeded my expectations. read more

I tested positive for COVID and they charged me $32. So,I highly do not recommend going to a "Spa Retreat " that clearly has zero care about their customers welfare and then charged me money for something completely out of my control and I canceled because I cared about their welfare and didn't want to give them COVID. Very sad to see how much they really could care less about their customers and the welfare of their community. Also be aware that if they are charging people who have COVID who cancel that means they are having clients who are coming in with COVID!!! I would stay away unless you want to be exposed. read more

I went to Spa Retreat in May 2011 on a LivingSocial Deal that I bought myself for a Christmas present this past December. It was a 2 for 1 deal and I picked a facial and a full body massage. The place is very well kept- clean and well decorated - they have a fireplace there for the winter months. They have a full bathroom with shower and hairdryers, etc.. for you to clean up after. They also sell Bare Minerals beauty products and other beauty products for the skin and face. - Massage was great- I had Janice and she was very good- the only thing I can complain about is the amount of oil she used- yikes, I was gross when I left that place- she rubbed the back of my beck and head with it so I needed a full shower before I went out later that night. I should have known this though- I have only gotten a pro massage once before with my Aunt and she goes all the time so she knew to have us shower there before we left. - Facial was also great- I have problems with acne so I upgraded the basic facial to include an acid mask to help me out- it really did seem to calm my acne. She was very knowledgeable and recommended their skin care products to me- They are expensive but I may try them in the future... The only real bad thing about this place is the distance from Columbus. It was over a 30 minute drive and if I do want to go back to get the facial cleanser I saw there, it would take over an hour to do so. Went to the spa retreat for a message, after tipping the young lady and going home I received a phone call from them telling me I did not leave a large enough tip. The person on the phone wanted to charge the rest of the tip on my credit card, I said NO, she charged it anyway. criminal to me. I'll warn everyone I know about this place. I thought it was up to me the amount of tip I leave. This place is bad news for your wallet. Maybe if they paid the help right they wouldn't have to commit fraud on peoples credit card. 1 star is too much. read more

Spa Retreat has the services of an expensive salon at half the price. Yes, they automatically add on a 15% gratuity - which I like! First, if you have more than one service provided by more than one person, it's always a pain to figure out the tip for each person. Second, the tip is based on menu price, because they have so many last minute deals that you're very likely getting a one hour spa pedicure for $35. It's just like tipping at a restaurant before a coupon. I'm sure they started this practice after they were not being tipped accordingly. Even after tip, the prices for an hour service are still a good $25 less than other places in Columbus. As for the treatments, I've had several pedicures and facials, and my husband has had several massages. All services were the same or better than a pricey spa. Pedicures include paraffin treatment and sugar or salt scrub, and the facials included extractions (all of these are services that some other spas charge extra for). It is extra to add deep tissue to a massage (a nominal $5-10), but just the fact that it's offered is nice. I've had massages at Penzone's during which I felt like the masseuse was barely touching me. I only wish Spa Retreat was closer to me, and I'd likely be there all the time. read more

My dad lives in Ohio with his girlfriend and apparently they have some sort of membership to this cute day spa. When I was asked if I wanted a massage I answered the only correct answer - Yes! My boyfriend and I got the couples massages in a tranquil room with two beds both on different sides of the room. Kindof strange for a couples thing when they're so far apart? I guess it's so the masseuses have room to move around. The room was nice with soothing music playing but I didn't really think it was nice -enough-. Like I would've liked it to be decorated a bit more, it seemed a little plain. I guess since it's a smaller place in a strip mall that's what you get. But I had a very nice experience for my first massage. The girl was friendly but thankfully didn't talk to me during. I just wanted to relax. The massage was pretty comforting, I really liked the feet and hands part, as did my boyfriend. I think I should've went with a deeper tissue one, because I wanted the pain a little afterward to actually feel them doing something to my muscles, but I left just feeling about the same as when I came in. I'm not sure how much it costs (since my dad's gf put it on their account - thanks Amy!) but it's probably worth it. I had a massage and facial. The massage was good; my only complaint is that my masseuse smelled like a smoker, which distracted me for the first 10 minutes. I guess I eventually got used to it. But not very spa-like. My facial was fantastic and I'm planning to return sometime for another. The facial massage was TO DIE FOR! I almost fell asleep. My other note was that the music was odd. Not the usual spa soothing sounds, but more like neo-electronica stuff. Also, I was only offered water, although I saw a Keurig machine in the lobby and it was a chilly day. My services have always been fine... Beckah is by far the best massage therapist working there. The customer service by the management could be better especially for such a competitive industry. I had a massage scheduled and woke up the morning of with a cough. I checked the cancellation policy which stated that I would basically have to pay full price if I cancelled or scheduled. Since I felt fine, I opted to go. I coughed twice during my service and as I was checking out the manager came out and in front of other customers went on and on about how my cold was going to put others at risk. She continued to tangent about how I should have cancelled and I finally paid and left. If you're that concerned about a common cold (which you can catch from a door knob by the way) then adjust your cancellation policy. No one is paying full price for a service they don't receive. Also, if you have an issue personally with a customer don't take it up with them in front of a room of people. With other spa options so close take your business elsewhere... no one should leave a spa feeling irritated. read more

I have been a member of Spa Retreat for about 7 months or so- I have had several different massage therapists, but I recently had a massage from Carmen, and I will request her from now on- I usually just get a relaxation massage, but Carmen did an amazing job- I won't go to anyone else at Spa Retreat now that I have had Carmen give me a massage. Don't waste your money at this place!! The customer service is awful, the ower Janice is unorganized and unprofessional!!! She has a high turnover rate of staff and recently had to train 13 new staff was her excuse ???Says something about how she runs her business???Read all the fine print and ask a lot of questions before scheduling your appointment. Don't expect to be treated as well as you do at Kenneths or Penzone.They won't greet you right away, offer you any drinks, and although the waiting area looks nice the massage rooms are small, the music isn't even loud enough to cover up the staff talking amongst themselves outside the door. The massage therapist talked too much during the actul massage. Not the most relaxing environment. Be prepared for several additinal charges. Tax of course, gratuity of 15% will be added because apparently this spa has a real problem with customers leaving tips.....hint hint hint.
