For having attended a different CDL school to get my B license, upgrading to the A with SWTDT was fairly easy. The driving instructors were all extremely approachable and did a great job explaining how to complete the backing exercises, pre trip and driving test. I give extreme props to Jorge as an instructor he was the best one I had. It was a pleasure being taught by him. I felt much more educated and well equipped being behind the wheel compared to my last CDL school. Southwest has a terrible culture. From the attitude of the staff and lack of professionalism. To the lack of accountability and doing things the right way. They do not care about the students like they say they do. They treated me less than human! Just about every staff member has a fake tough guy attitude, that they hide behind. Instead of being real, and treating you with common respect and decency. This includes, Ken, Bryan, Justin, and the Director. Their problems all start from the top with leadership and management. David is a terrible instructor. That doesn't actually teach you. He just throws you in there, and yells at you when you mess up. I was not the only student in my class that had problems with the instructors. Their entire staff is RUDE. 2 out of 8 students in my class passed! I chose to leave this school because I refuse to be anywhere that I am treating less than a human being! They don't even have maintenance clean the microwaves or refrigerators. Nor do they have a dedicated break room. Bottom line, this school as a whole lacks Respect, Professionalism, and Accountability. Experience doesn't make you good... you can do things the wrong way for 20 years. Trucking schools like Southwest prepare you for the trucking industry. Because I hear most Trucking Companies are as worthless as Southwest is as a Company. I believe God sent me here to show his disapproval and warn of coming judgement. They can continue to lie and have the same false attitude. But it won't change the truth... I guess people will continue to sell their souls for a little bit of change. the school does what is claims to do, gets you your CDL. I will say that if you can't drive long haul do not make the mistake of getting your CDL anywhere. you will absolutely not find any local work even if you spend all that money and time getting your CDL local jobs are few and don't care about school training. I'll also say the facilities at this campus are lacking. 40 people for one bathroom that only has 2 toilets, unless you're a women. they also don't have food or any food nearby so you get a 30 min lunch and the food truck comes and leaves fast so make sure you trainer lets you go to lunch on time because if not you'll be hungry the rest of the 5 hours. not the worst experience just could have been way way better. read more

This was a great experience. In class and in the truck was brilliant. I had the opportunity to be taught by Doug in the class room and Gilbert in the truck. Both were excellent along with the other instructors I interacted with. Darlene came in to express her thoughts of how they teach and was concerned about everyone's well being. My instructors, both inside the classroom and outside on the range (Ken & Gilberto) were extremely helpful and always willing to go that extra step to ensure your success. Yeah it's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I went to the Phoenix campus. The facilities, yes including the bathroom, are very nice, clean, and not run down or dirty. Most importantly, the instructors are incredible. They really are trying to help you, not just trying to grind out a paycheck. I had Kenny for my in class time. He's good at what he does and your in good hands with him. Now the actual range and road time.... THIS is where SWTDT really shines. You get guaranteed seat time with some very good instructors. If you fail once on the pre trip they never call you back. I did training here and obtained CDL elsewhere. To this day I have not heard from them and it's been well over 4 months. Absolutely disgusting. My trainer was good however the timeframe they have you on the range driving they do not train enough of the maneuvers for $6,700 worth. Extremely disappointed by this campus and wish I had gone elsewhere. Complete scam when they tell you they will give you 3 chances. Before I attended class at SWTDT, I did my research on other schools. I ultimately chose this school because a friend of mine recommended it to me. Now that I am fully licensed, I can say a few things. For one, the amount of money that they charge for the class ($5600) they could at least provide coffee for the students during the mornings/ afternoons. Secondly, can yall put an air freshener in the men's restroom? Also maybe deep clean it? I have never walked into a restroom before (until I went here) and seen someone else's shit on the floor. It's absolutely disgusting. I don't know how someone could miss the toilet. And third, I think the employees could be a little more friendly & not walk around like their shit doesn't stink. Horrible customer service. I spoke with Darlene there Secretairy and gave her all the paper work needed to do a Pre trip inspection test for Class B. I took a day off to take this test walk in 15 minutes early and the examiner says I need your application from the DMV or I can't continue the test. They didn't call one time to communicate. I live 1 hour away. I spoke with Adam the manager he seemed not to care one bit about the situation and his response is you can't come back for two days to reschedule. I had them refund me the money and I'll take my business somewhere different. The examiners exact words where I don't make the rules. One day off work no pay and this is how they treat there paying customers. Find another CDL school. read more

I attended Southwest Truck driver training from December 2022 -January 2023. I was not able to pass the pretrip assessment to obtain my CDL within the 4-week training. The last day I was told I would receive a call from the training department within a week or two to confirm as to when I could return for an additional 2 weeks of hands-on training with no additional cost to me. It has been well beyond that time and I have recieved no such phone call. I have called, texted and even stopped by the school for the same answer as no availability. I understand we are all busy, however I have paid for this class and all I ask is that the school keeps their word and contact me asap for the date that I can return for the 2 additional weeks that they told me. read more

They take forever to upload a certificate to MVD , I did training Friday and they say it would be in by Monday it's still NOT there!!!.
