I signed my daughter up for the most expensive training program. After completing it, and some additional hourly drives, she was still not comfortable driving. Since I was a loyal customer, and my daughter still needed a lot of work behind the wheel, I asked if we could have a small discount on our next hourly session. To my surprise, they said no. I took my business elsewhere and within 3 hours my daughter finally understood how the traffic lights in Arizona typically flow and how to turn left on a flashing yellow. NControl isn't bad. NControl Driving School was excellent for my teenage driver. I was referred to NControl by friends and co-workers who used them for their teenagers and had nothing but great things to say. I loved Nikki in the office. She was my first impression to NControl and she is AWESOME! She was very informative and could relate to a new teenage driver being on the road. Nikki got my teenager enrolled and we were off and driving pretty quick. We were able to schedule our lessons ahead of time so long as my driver was doing his "homework" between lessons. The driving sessions are 2 hours long, which is (was) long for a teenager, but we built up to those with several 60-90 minute sessions at home. The skid pad day was fun as it actually rained for a little bit giving the drivers some wet conditions. All of the instructors were very patient and professional, but I have to say Chuck was the favorite as my son had him twice for lessons. If you are in the east valley and need a great driving school, NControl is a no brainer! read more

Updating my review. This is a good driving school overall. Grace in the front is very friendly. For instructors, I really liked both of the guys named Brian and a guy named Paul. They seem to care about preparing their students for the road here. The office however smells so strongly of air freshener it's almost nauseating. That's my only gripe. Our daughter is taking this course. We couldn't be happier. The instructors are a wealth of information with some having been in law enforcement and some professional race car drivers. She learned A LOT from each drive and especially the skid, parking, and controlling the car class. She left feeling much more confident on the road. My son took this driving course. He was always learning traffic laws, who has the right of way, and more every time he went out. They also have a "weekend training" at the end of the course that teaches him about ABS and to not be afraid to slam on his breaks if needed, they helped polish up his parking skills, and deal with skidding. Teaching my daughter to drive has dwarfed every challenge I've faced as a parent. Knowing the real-world consequences of making a mistake have the potential to be catastrophic or even deadly made the anxiety in the vehicle palpable anytime my daughter was behind the wheel. It was an overwhelming and terrifying responsibility that felt hopeless, so I began researching different driving schools and opted to enroll my daughter in the Beginning Driving course at NControl Driving. When the instructor Chuck showed up for our first session, we informed him that Alexa (my daughter) had never driven on the busy streets, only neighborhoods and side streets. Chuck immediately eased our anxiety by informing us he has worked with hundreds of kids in the same situation. Alexa got in the driver's seat, Chuck taught her how to properly adjust her mirrors, and we were off. Chuck's calm and confident demeanor was a tremendous blessing, and his patience was nothing short of divine. He demonstrated unsurpassed compassion while managing to complete the work that needed to be done. He had her on the busy streets within 20 minutes, and after the first session, she was comfortable enough driving that we were able to practice on our own in the following weeks. A few weeks later, it was time for Alexa's second session. We got in the vehicle with Rob, and my daughter immediately started expressing her panic over the parked cars and garbage cans on the neighborhood streets (LOL). Imagine her reaction when Rob told her she was going to drive on the freeway! Rob reinforced Chuck's message that despite not being in the driver's seat, the instructor was always in full control of the vehicle. The words "I'm not going to let anything bad happen" had immense power given the circumstances. There were a few instances where I personally witnessed this to be true, and I cannot fathom how the instructors were able to maintain such a calm disposition in every situation we encountered. Under Rob's supervision, Alexa successfully drove on the freeway for over an hour, and I'm grateful that Rob was in the passenger's seat instead of me. The next step of the course was the 3-hour Car Control Clinic near the Phoenix Zoo. As we prepared to leave our home in South Chandler, Alexa picked up the keys and insisted on driving us there. That was the exact moment when the fear of my teenage daughter becoming a licensed driver became less debilitating and the responsibility of teaching her became less overwhelming. Alexa drove us to the clinic in Phoenix as I sat in the passenger's seat amazed by the progress she had made in such a short period of time. The instructors at the Car Control Clinic were just as spectacular as everyone we had interacted with thus far, and I cannot put a price tag on the invaluable skills she acquired during this 3-hour clinic. The maneuvers she learned were intense and far exceeded my skills as an adult who has been driving for 30 years. The instructors interacted with my daughter in a way that made her feel she could do the things that were being asked of her. She expressed having fun at the clinic, and her confidence again skyrocketed. Alexa just finished her final drive of the course we enrolled in, and I feel tremendously blessed to have had the support of NControl Driving. As a mother on the verge of handing the keys over to my daughter, I'm certain I will do plenty of worrying over the years; but I find solace in knowing my daughter has the knowledge to be a safe driver if she opts to implement the training she has received. I was oblivious to the multitude of maneuvers, tactics, and "tricks" that exist to benefit the driver, and the more people who learn these skills, the safer the roads become for us all. NControl Driving is not only making the world a safer place, they're making it a more endearing place by treating people with love & compassion. We are just about mid-way through our 10 hour training program for my son, and so far we are VERY happy with our choice to use NControl! I was initially hesitant to utilize a driving school, based on price. But after thinking about how I spend money on baseball lessons, camps, etc., I couldn't justify NOT spending money to help equip my son with the right skills and knowledge for an activity he will engage in his whole life. What is more important - making him a safe driver, or consistently hitting a curveball? My son was also initially hesitant because none of his friends "had" to take driving lessons, but he is really enjoying the training. We noticed an immediate improvement after his first session, too; and I even learned a few things while riding along in the back seat. I'd recommend NControl without hesitation. My daughter went through the seven hour course and is definitely a better driver now. Ever tried to teach a 16 year old girl to drive? It'll make you want to buy stock in adult diaper companies. I swiftly realized that stomping on the floorboard with no brake pedal, clawing at the dashboard and yelling STOP! DAMMIT STOP! at my lovely daughter wasn't a very effective training method. Thank goodness for Eric and N Control Driving School. Eric was *fantastic*. He was funny, cordial, and immediately put my daughter (and her parents) at ease. Eric arrived, explained to all of us what he'd be doing and off they went in a pretty new car, with "STUDENT DRIVER" plastered all over it. Two hours later they returned (with the car in one piece) and I was amazed at the difference in my daughter's driving. She was FAR more confident in her skills. It was like night and day. My daughter started taking lessons here a few months ago after very strongly objecting to ever having to get behind the wheel. She is one of those kids that is so anxiety-ridden about it she freezes up, panics, and cries at the slightest thought of driving (people honk at you, ya know!). Teaches great defensive driving and has all kinds of helpful tips for nervous new drivers. The defensive closed course was pretty awesome just be aware they are pretty rough on whatever car you use for that. (Slamming on breaks , turns etc) It's a pricey course, but the lesson is priceless read more

It is overpriced, you don't get the same instructor for more than 1 class, and they didn't practice CDC guidelines. Called to schedule driving school and was told it has to take 3 to 4 months. People are not allowed to complete it in a shorter time frame. The only opportunity to complete skid control was 4 months away. I had 2 siblings complete this program before and they were done in less than 1 month. Thought I would give them a chance even though one of my siblings was told it was not necessary to shoulder check when changing lanes. Just use your rear view mirror only. My sibling almost got us in a serious accident due to their poor instruction. Reported this back to the owner about the instructor and let them know what happened on the highway. Continued with the driving instructions to get thru the program. Buyer beware......... read more

I highly recommend NControl! Our 16 year old daughter just finished the 10 hour course with them yesterday. She took the skills test with them as well, and passed with a 100%. We headed straight to the third party DMV with the certificate/waiver and she had her license within 30 minutes of getting there. Easy Peasy. She was one with very limited driving time when she started their course, and went from being hesitant and afraid, to completely confident in her abilities. She had both Hayden and Bud on her individual drive times and they were both patient and calming with her, which is the kind of instructor she needed as both my husband and I tended to make her too anxious. I also can't speak highly enough of the 3 hour defensive driving/obstacle course. She is a better parallel parker than myself now. ;-) The cost of the program is worth the peace of mind it offers. Sending your child out onto the roads is scary, but knowing she is aware of the proper driving techniques eases those fears. Everyone we dealt with at the company is top notch. read more

Sorry to have to post a negative review but beware that NControl does NOT judiciously practice CDC recommendations for COVID-19. When I signed up I told a lady named Sharon that we insisted on only being around people that wore masks including the instructor. When Jessica from NControl called me to go over things I was told there would be 3 students and an instructor in the car and none of them had to wear masks and that many of their instructors refused to wear a mask. Jessica said that they couldn't make anyone wear a mask (they could make it a requirement of course) and that the cars were disinfected but I believe that was just at the beginning of the day. So bottom line.. if you care about protecting your and other peoples health then pass on this company. Before you non-mask hoax people pipe in here please remember that I really don't care or respect what you think about covid-19. Blunt, but true. read more

My 16-year-old son just completed 6 hours of driving instruction and the Car Control Clinic; both aptly prepared him for getting his driver's license and gave me the confidence that he can handle himself behind the wheel of a car. Im a 25 year airline pilot. I know what professional training is, and this is it. Steve's demeanor is perfect for optimal learning. His expertise was quickly obvious as he assessed my youngest daughters competency level, then challenged her to learn and become as proficient and safe as possible in the time available. My oldest daughter attended a different training course 3 years ago, but we were so impressed with Steve's instruction, that we plan to send her to his car control course to help her understand some of the more demanding performance requirements of operating HER car in adverse or unforeseen conditions. I personally observed all 6 hours of his instruction, plus the car control course, and am totally impressed. New and experienced drivers alike will benefit from his experience and teaching style. The company is very well run, and communication is frequent and professional. Scheduling can be a challenge, but they work very successfully to meet your availability. When our daughter started this course, she was tentative at best. We were a little concerned with how little confidence she had behind the wheel with her mother and I teaching her. After the first lesson, she had gained a little confidence, so we decided to see the lessons through. She made progress, however the day my daughter became a confident driver is easy to pinpoint: the skid car made all the difference. That day was focused on the "what if" driving situations. She practiced - in a full sized truck I may add - how to avoid losing control of a vehicle in an emergency. Before, I would say "confidence level 4". After, she was completely comfortable that she could maintain control in an emergency. Level ten. Thanks NControl. Great job. Worth the extra money? Absolutely. As a parent, I felt I needed another set of "eyes" for both of my daughters driver''s training. They are 6 years apart but both attended N Control training when they were 16 yrs old. N Control is the school you want your kids to attend. The day at the "track" is worth every penny as it provides skills training unlike any other school. The "skid car" is a necessary training drill they get to experience and apply their new knowledge of car control. My kids won't be perfect drivers, but I'm confident they will "Arrive Alive" with what they have learned through N Control Driving School. I recommend this training to all young drivers. I prepaid $895.00 for 4 sessions (2 hours each) and the final testing at the school site. The first session was scheduled for 3/14/2019 and then another month before the second session. Please keep in mind that you are not required to pre-pay; you can space out the payments on the day of the driving lessons. Since I read such wonderful reviews, I figured paying the entire bill upfront wouldn't hurt. Boy was I wrong......buyer beware! Once the driving session was over, I was informed that my son needed a lot more practice and that I needed to address their (yes their) concerns before the next session. I was not pleased since I informed them during my initial call that my son did not have anyone to practice with and that I was not able to do it myself. If I had been informed, I would have picked another school. I was clearly told that this class would get him where he needed to be. That was not the case. I called back and spoke to Jason expressing my concerns. He informed that I could switch over to the $80 per class which meant that my son would like get the classes left on the balance. I expressed my concerns and I was told by Jason that I would receive a refund minus the $200.00 deposit which was not refundable. My expectation was that I would receive $695.00, which I thought was fair. I was wrong. I was informed that I would be receiving a $495.00 refund and did not receive an explanation only that this is what they could do for me. At this point, I have no choice, but to stick with the remainder of the program otherwise I could not afford another program with that refund. Keep in mind that their pricing is not posted on their website. You have to call in so that they can tell you how wonderful their company is and how your kid will learn to drive in no time! I can sum this driving school up in one word, FANTASTIC! Steve and his staff deliver everything they promise and then some. They send a clear message to teens about the responsibilities that come with driving along with superior on the road skills that are taught. A parent can only do so much training, these guys do the rest. The defensive closed course was amazing to watch as our daughter really gained control of the car for the first time. When our son was 15 1/2, we started looking for a comprehensive driving school for him to attend. I am from the East Coast originally, and am used to teenagers getting drivers' ed in school; Arizona schools don't offer this service, and so began our search. We chose N Control Driving School because it sounded exactly like what we were looking for: classroom instruction, driver training, etc. The wonderful extra was their four hour accident avoidance safety class, using the company vehicles and simulating situations that could happen resulting from a crash or bad weather, etc. When our son was finished with this whole course, he was very well prepared for all kinds of driving situations. We are thrilled with the level of professionalism N Control displayed throughout the course. A post script is that two months after getting his license, our son was t-boned at an intersection by a driver who ran a red light. Our son's back right tire was destroyed and he started to skid through a busy intersection,heading straight for a pole. He tells us that he immediately remembered what he learned at N Control and quickly steered himself out of harm's way and to the side of the road. The class quite literally may have saved his life! We can't say enough great things about this place and would freely recommend it to any parent looking for the absolute best in driving schools for their child!! read more

LOVED this for our new driver! Ask for Eric- he's FABULOUS. Really knowledgeable, but easy going with a teenager. Great temperment for a driving teacher.
