I decided to use Stop and Go based strictly that it was one of the closest driving schools to our residence. My husband and I both have large trucks and my teenager really didn't feel comfortable driving either when he first received his permit. I found the package that would best fit our needs on the website. Ten hours in car driving with them administering the DMV road test with the last lesson. After paying for the lessons they send the recipient an online gift certificate. Booking online was a breeze. Photos and times available for each instructor easy to maneuver. After three lessons the instructor did state my son needed some more in car driving practice prior to booking his last lesson / road test. After each lesson the instructor emails a report on what needs to be worked on before the next lesson. Both instructors my son had showed up on time and were personable and answered our questions. So easy having them pickup at my home. Pricing competitive to others, but priceless in my book. Driving with these men gave my son the confidence he needed behind the wheel. If you see a little red Prius on the road with bold white lettering that says, "Student Driver" get out of the way!!! Okay, I'm being dramatic, because by the time these student drivers are on the roadway, they will have already received their driving permit 6 months prior, and had a good amount of time practicing their driving skills with their family and instructor. Oh! And the fact that all of their vehicles are equipped with GPS, dual brakes and mirrors, and safety sensors helps too! Wouldn't want to send a new driver off in a car with a stranger without some type of safety restrictions in place! My husband and I chose Stop and Go Driving School for our 16 year old son because they have certified MVD instructors, a road test waiver option, and a hands on program that includes freeway driving to boot. Another great perk of choosing Stop and Go is that the instructor will even pick up and drop off your student driver for each lesson! Our son's instructor Barry, was straightforward with our son from the start and he let him know what the expectations were going to be during his driving sessions. He promised us he would teach our son how to parallel park. He even promised to have him perform this in his driving test because he had such a great success rate with his previous students. Let me tell you how great it felt to let someone else help us sharpen our son's driving skills. It was the best decision to do so, and it really helped to lighten the stress levels for Mom, Dad, AND son! After each lesson, Barry provided us with a recap of his progress and gave us skills to practice with our son which helped us to focus on what he really needed. 10/10 recommend stop & go driving school & over the last 3 months I have been telling everyone about them! I started by taking the 24 hour online permit class & then the 8 hour in classroom. Paul was the instructor and he is absolutely phenomenal! I am 26 years old and thought I would NEVER drive!!!! One of the first things Paul said in class was 1. You WILL pass your permit test today & 2. You WILL leave here a confident driver & that's exactly what happened. I came into class probably one of the least confident people but left a brand new person, thanks to the help of Paul! I then paid for the Gold package with four in car sessions and had Barry as my instructor. Barry is very professional , on time & immediately let's you know expectations. He his thorough with his explanations & ask questions so you can stay on top of your game. I let him know when I was feeling anxious and he was able to talk me out of that & ease me into trying new things on the road. One of the things I really liked about having Barry as a instructor was he put things into prospective for me- I was nervous the first time he took me on the freeway and I made a mistake, I was beating myself up for that and he was able to talk me out of that & make me feel a lot better. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. I wish I could have given a better rating, but I will do my best to be as constructive as possible to help the owner to understand what went wrong. I am a late learner, age 30, learning to drive for the first time. I never had a parent or family member to teach me to drive. So I decided to be responsible and to save up for driving school! It was hard for me to save up the money to attend this school and I didn't expect my lessons to be perfect, but how I was treated falls far below any standard of respect or human decency . I took two lessons: Instructor 1 ... the first instructor was fairly decent but he drove me 25 minutes away from my home to a far secluded parking lot where he yelled at me for a whole half hour as I drove nervously in circles in the parking lot. I desperately asked him many times how fast he would like me to drive the vehicle. He offered little to no guidance, and yelled "you are WAY too technical! ". Most of the lesson was wasted on how far he drove me and I believe it was done on purpose to decrease driving time. I felt scammed on my first lesson but it gets worse with the second one... Instructor 2... the second lesson, we found a parking lot closeby, which was a slight improvement... But he yelled and yelled at me for so long . We were in a parking lot driving in circles, but He would not calm down and would not direct me anywhere. I asked him "where should I turn?" he said "over there!" and I turned right. Then he got angry and said I was supposed to turn left ... from there the yelling continued for the entire lesson. He had such little self restraint, I began to wonder if I should stop the car and exit my lesson. but it gets worse... Somewhere along his rant, he yelled "you will never be able to drive!" and when I made a final plee with him to teach me, and reminded him that I paid to learn, he said "thats just a cop out!" . Eventually, He kept telling me to drive into traffic, but I told him I was not ready, maybe for the next lesson because I needed more practice. He continued to berate me and try to force me to drive into traffic. I told him "No. I do not trust you." and I certainly did not with the behavior he displayed. I felt such a deep sorrow in the pit of my stomach and tried my best... At the end of the lesson, I asked him where he would like me to park. He said absolutely nothing-- and from there I chose a random spot and left the car to end my lesson. Since my lessons I have attended a different driving school with another instructor. I have learned to park perfectly straight, reverse park, 3 pointers, and parallel --- My new instructor is a cool guy and I am excited to get onto the road. My first lesson was with Holly, who provided me with constructive feedback and complimented what I excelled in. My last 3 lessons were with Carter, who really helped to prepare me for my road test. He took a unique approach to nailing down essential safety things in my lessons with him, such as the 3-4 second rule which he explained in a way that made it very easy to get my timing down. They are responsive and answered all my questions quickly. My ticket was dismissed within five days of my completing the course. The course was $40. The course itself was long and tedious, since it is timed. It took me aver 4 hours to complete. There are 29 chapters, each timed on average 8 minutes. After each chapter there are two questions related to the material, on which you must get 80%, and every other chapter has a personal question, which you must answer with 100% accuracy or fail the class. Being able to stop and continue this course of the phone is a welcome feature. The course contains multiple grammatical, factual, formatting, and logical errors and inconsistencies. Here are some examples: * "There were approximately 250 million registered vehicles on U.S. roadways in 2009; they drove approximately 300 trillion miles." It is actually 3 trillion miles, not 300 trillion; they are off by a factor of 100 here. If Americans drove 300 trillions miles, that would mean that each person drives 1.2 million miles per year. * "30,000 are killed each year in alcohol-related accidents." The actual number is 10,497, 28% of all traffic-related deaths (CDC 2016). * "What is your the first letter of your FIRST NAME?" * "A law was passed prohibiting a driver was entering this area." * "In an effort to reduce crashes, cameras have installed at numerous intersections throughout the state." * "If you're under 21 years of age, your minimum BAC must be 0.00." * "What is the legal blood alcohol level for someone under 21 years old?" * "Ignorance of the law is no defense. Having an empty container, being a passenger, not drinking, and not thinking are not a defense." Should be "defenses" * Video tells you to not "tune the radio" yet they say that in order to avoid getting worked up by an aggressive driver to put on your favorite music. * Different words are bolded and capitalized often in the same sentence, making intended emphasis unclear. * They say you must never exceed the speed limit, yet you must always drive at the speed of the traffic, even when it exceeds the speed limit. * They say to keep a distance of 3 seconds while driving, and one and a half car length when stopped at a light. This is impractical and is more likely to agitate other drivers and create unsafe situations. * Inconsistent Oxford Comma use. * Some of the videos are pointless, like the RENO 911! - Drunk Catwalk. Others, like those that included actual officer commentary were informative. These inaccuracies is why traffic schools have a reputation of being a waste of time and not teaching anything useful. I had not learned much that I already did not know, even after reading every word that they wrote. I doubt that taking this course will make anyone a better driver. If I am to spend four hours actually learning the material, the least they can do is hire a competent professional to proof read and fact-check the material. They probably do not have much competition, but I wish their standards for providing educational materials were higher. read more

This company is amazing! The owners care about giving great service at reasonable rates. We had 2 girls go through their drive training and classroom for defensive driving. The instructors were professional, yet relatable and fun for the girls to drive with. I liked that they were flexible and calm. My kids are really good safe defensive drivers because they learned correctly without bad habits. I would recommend the gold package! It helped me sleep better knowing they had the most recommended time with instructors on the road. My almost 16-year-old had been driving for five months. She was due to get her license in a few weeks but I was noticing some issues with confidence which was causing her to make some driving errors. I was concerned that she would not be ready to get her license when she turned 16 and I thought she could benefit from driving with someone else that was a third-party, not emotionally involved and objective. I bought the five hour package which was broken up into two 2 1/2 hour sessions. She drove with Sushriya the first time and came back after her 2 1/2 hour driving session saying that she had learned so much. We ended up requesting the same instructor for her second session. Sushriya was awesome! My daughter finished her five hour session having learned a ton but most importantly, she gained so much confidence. She was already an experienced driver but I think she just needed an objective person to drive with her, correct a few things she was doing but to also let her know that she was doing great and to help her learn to trust herself. Driving schools are not cheap but when you calculate the cost of accidents from an inexperienced driver or a driver that lacks confidence, it's well worth the investment. read more

Treba is the BEST driving instructor ever!!! I couldn't be more grateful for her help in teaching me how to drive!!! Originally, I scheduled a lesson with Samm but had to switch instructors after the first lesson. The office staff was very accommodating and understanding about the issue and asked around the office about who would be willing to take me on as a student. I couldn't be happier that Treba kindly volunteered to take me on as a student!!! Treba's instructions have been WONDERFUL! Going out of her way to drive to my house and even teach me on her days off, Treba has been an excellent driving instructor who has taught me so much about defensive driving! My wife had her drivers licence in Bangkok Thailand for 8 years before she moved here to the UNITED States and I am proud to say she never had an accident with another driver. After many years I was finally ready to get my driver's license, especially after moving to the Phoenix area, where having a license is indispensable. I think this review could be helpful for other adults who are learning to drive, if you don't have a car to access or a parent/friend to supplement your instruction. There are nice perks like scheduled pick-up, going to the MVD after you pass your road test, and booking lessons online, but the most important thing is the quality of instruction. I've always been anxious about driving and haven't found the right place or time to learn, or worried that I would put a lot of money into lessons and still not pass a road test. My instructor (Bonnie) was patient and made me feel comfortable behind the wheel and in traffic, and worked with me at the right pace where I never felt rushed into situations I couldn't handle, but I still was able to make much more progress than I thought after a just a few lessons. I'm especially grateful for Bonnie's highway instruction, where I was always nervous navigating Phoenix/Tempe's complex interchanges but managed to guide me through what to look for and how to practice on my won. As for the cars, there were the usual things I expect of a driving school cars - passenger-side braking, dual mirrors, and dash-cams for review later. These features should add to your comfort as a safety net if you're nervous behind the wheel. The fleet is Toyota Priuses with no other modern features (auto-braking, lane change assist) so you'll learn basic skills like checking mirrors The process of both in-car immediate feedback along with a list of post-drive things to work on was immensely helpful for quickly and efficiently getting my lisence. read more

Edit: after i posted this review, i was contacted by Joe, the owner of the driving school. He apologized for what happened with the diving instructor and made sure that i was comfortable driving again and also made sure i was able to get my driver's license. I appreciate all of this and now highly recommend this place. This review is about their driving lessons. I paid for two lessons of two hours and a half each and had two different instructors. This review is only about the second one. While the first instructor made me feel comfortable and in charge, the second one was the complete opposite. He was unable to give me clear instructions ( for example telling me "turn there" and pointing instead of telling me turn right at the light) was more interested with his phone than helping me took control of the car way too often instead of helping me be in control. I felt like i waisted two hours and half and ended up felling more stressed than i was before i started. read more

Stay away from the online course. The in-person classes may have high ratings, but stay away from the online course. When I registered for the online course, I was up against a court deadline to get the class completed. After completing their registration and paying their fee, the system told me that I had to fax a copy of my ticket and driver's license before access to the online class would be granted. As I not have a scanner or fax machine, this was an issue. Why didn't the system tell me ahead of time that this was going to be required; that was my first issue. So I called the local office and asked why this was being required of me? I was simply told that that was the process. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was then told that I could take a photo of these items and email them as attachment. I finally found a friend that could help me with this The next day, almost 24 hours later, I still had not been granted access to the course and time was running out. So I took my ticket and drivers license and went to the local office. When I gave the gal my name, she recognized it immediately - I didn't even have to show her the ticket or drivers license - and she said, "Oh yeah, we received that yesterday; I'll unlock the class for you". She clicked a couple of buttons and that was it. What took so long?!? My guess is that I had "upset" them yesterday by expressing my dissatisfaction with their process - so they dragged out the process as long as they could. Whatever the case, it was unacceptable. I almost missed the deadline for completing the class, which meant I would have had to make a court appearance. Not acceptable. read more

This company had great customer service!! The instructors were all terrific and patient with my son, especially Volker. We had some issues with the third party motor vehicles service where my son took his driving test & got his license...Joe the owner called me that evening and apologized for the 3rd party service (NOT his employees). I was impressed that he was concerned enough about his customer's experience that he would personally sort out the issues. We chose Stop-and-Go because they had cars that my son could learn to drive on and take the test with. Further, they offered a service where their personnel would take him to get his license, as parents who travel quite a bit, this service was a lifesaver.
