SAVE YOUR MONEY! This scam of a "school" has no regards for the actual education retained from their students! Instructors always on their phones and like to provoke arguments from students. They will do anything but teach you. Go to this school only if you want to teach your self, sit around for hours on end wasting valuable learning time. The recruiters walk around constantly bringing up how they get paid more for students passing their tests so it is all just a money game for this school. Over crowding the driving pad so you have less time to actually learn or practice, completely unorganized management, no curriculum set in place so each instructor tells you different things, instructors being overwhelmed and overloaded with students forcing students to teach each other. All the training vehicles have various issues making the manuever / driving inconsistent. We initially heard about Roadmaster from my brother. He attended there and after graduating went to work for Werner. Based on his recommendation, my husband and I called and made a same day appointment to get more information and check the school out firsthand. Our appointment and ongoing contact was with Carlos. He explained their program, gave us a tour and answered our questions. He was very personable and relaxed. No pressure. We spent about a week discussing the logistics of going to school and basically making a career/life change. After that things happened pretty quick. We again met with Carlos. Then we met with Janessa who answered all our questions about Werner. Janessa is awesome! She and Carlos took care of all the paperwork and got us a prehire at Werner Enterprises. (Although the school is owned by Werner, there are other options.) Brittany, who handles financing, walked us through the process. Classes start every Monday. We picked a start date then used the time to study for our CDL permit. Sidenote: Get CDL permit, drug test and DOT physical before starting classes if possible. You will get out of the classroom and to the core elements of the program quicker. Plan on classes taking up a major part of your life for a short time. The program is 160 hours. It is Monday thru Saturday from 7am-6pm with an hour break for lunch at noon and a couple smaller breaks. The goal is to prepare you to take and pass your CDL test. When you are searching for a school, remember that this is a career that you could have for many years. When looking for a school, remember that you can go to any school in the world if you have some time and flexibility. If you want to be the best, you have to train with the best. Clearly there are different strokes for different folks. Some people appear to have thought this was a great school, but for me, I wanted more. I wanted instructors that had a genuine interest in seeing me learn the skills I needed and who weren't just there to verbalize the same speech they had over and over. The teaching lacked passion. Other students asked simple questions and were ignored or yelled at. Several students quit within the first week because we weren't being taught and we were literally just given videos to watch with no instruction. The goal was to push students through and hope they got a little bit of what was taught. A little bit was not what I was looking for. Most of the students did not have to pay upfront, but I was called the Friday before school. I was told I would need a co-signer and to make a payment arrangement to attend school. I couldn't accept just average teaching when I knew there had to be something better. There are schools that will front all the costs for school if you commit to working for them for 10 months to a year. Find those if you can't swing the exorbitant cost of school. I have now found a school that has been head and shoulders above this school from day one. The instructors value their students. They are passionate about what they teach and willing to answer any question you have.The instructors go out of their way to interact with the class and we have tests almost everyday to check for comprehension. If you are serious about truck driving, do your research and don't settle. PS.....Regardless of what school you choose, get your DOT physical exam (available at your doctors office or most urgent cares) and your written test permit (you can download the cdl test app to study) before you come to school. read more

I attended Roadmaster Phoenix by way of California (covid19) I must say this is a professionally run cdl school.starting at the top with devin her positivity overflows outside to the instructors. They were very accommodating to me as I needed extra help with backing. I was originally attending classes at the Las Vegas location. However, due to the pandemic and other issues that have happened the school has shut down. When I was told I needed to continue the rest of my training out in AZ I was not to enthusiastic about the idea. But, I did what I needed to do in order to reach my goal and pursue a career and job I've always wanted to do. When we first got there the School Manager Devon was very helpful and extremely nice and approachable. She did her job the correct way and did a great job at it too. She cared about the students and wanted us all to succeed and pass. The instructors there were hands down top notch and trained the correct way. If it was not to the Instructors Jeff and Craig I wouldn't know how to back those big trucks up still. They knew you would mess up and wanted you to figure out how to fix yourself correctly without them walking your threw it. Mike was a great instructor to teach you how to drive those big rigs. He has a different approach to the teaching but it's effective. I thought the training I received here at the Phoenix location was excellent and 10x better than what I received in Las Vegas. read more

Roadmaster is a great school, Devon is Fantastic and has a ton of energy to supply everyone; even on her bad days. All my instructors were great with the exception of one who I found out was terminated about 2 weeks after I had left thank goodness... Class room work is very fast, there is not a lot of time to absorb information. My teacher informed us to study every night on our own. Federal government only requires you to attend 40 hrs of classroom instruction then the rest is out on the pad. A total of 180 hrs. I would highly suggest you study for the permit test weeks prior to attending. You don't have too but it's definitely going to help you. Ok going onto the pad is an experienced, first to PTI. Hopefully you get an instructor who is helpful and doesn't not expect to go over things once and then you practice on your own; like I had. Students were teaching students in my PTI. Then the teacher expected you to test out by Wednesday-Friday. Mind you he is too busy doing evaluations to ask or reshow you anything about PTI. Once you pass that hurdle you go to backing skills. State examiner Ms. Mary, Sean, Craig, state examiner Dale, state examiner Rich all great. Sean is super patient and very helpful, gives great encouragement and feedback. Craig his hilarious, gives, very supportive and has a great way at showing you how to improve your skills. Ms. Mary really helped me in perfecting all the skills the other teachers showed. Then she also had her own way. That is one thing you have to keep in mind when going to school. Each one of this instructors are different and have different methods but they all will help of you listen. Walk with them while others are driving see what they are seeing so when you get back in the truck you can make your moves with ease and start to perfect them. Dale took me on the road and was great, he calmed my nerves and made me feel at ease. Rich was great at my final evaluation for my license. He made it just like any other day. Made it feel like I was driving by myself, he talked but didn't make me feel nervous. The one thing I would change is # of student in each backing skill. You tend to only get in the truck 3-4 times a day. Some peeps need way more time or even want more time to ensure they are good on test day. Overall this school is phenomenal the one advantage as well is that if you can't find a job they will find one for you. That is for life as well. I would choose them over and over again and have referred several people. Definitely the best choice for me. read more
