Only 4 Stars because it is kind of tight in the store and that can be a bit uncomfortable. That being said, I sure am glad when I see a "neighborhood" hardware store and "Ace is the Place" that is truly chock-full of hardware stuff and a "helpful, hardware man" or two or more and sometimes a helpful woman (although I did not observe any as floor help in this store at this time). In past years, I would sometimes get an Ace sales paper. If I had other errands in this direction, I would stop at this Ace. The two Ace Hardware stores that used to be near my house closed many years ago : ( Yesterday, I had about 15 minutes before an appointment nearby, so I decided to stop in and browse. I didn't really have enough time to find and purchase anything. However, while I was was there, I observed an Ace Associate assist other customers. One thing is for sure, Ace truly has some "ace" associates. This guy (associate) sounded knowledgeable and was very pleasant. It is really nice to know that places like this still exist. I just wish I had one existing a little closer to my house! read more

I try to support local business, but, there prices are way too expensive! I needed a replacement bathroom faucet and didn't want to make a trip to home depot. I bought their cheapest faucet ( because I will be remodeling the bathroom in the near future) it cost $54!!! I could have bought the same style moen or delta at home depot for $34!!!! Needless to say from now on I will take the extra time and go to home depot!! So much for trying to support local business. read more

I had to buy a part for my gas hose and initially got a size too big. So I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of it with a tape measure to get the accurate size. First one was 1/2 inch, turns out I needed 3/8". Anyhow when I came in the second time for the correct size I said to the man "Hold on a sec". As I was pulling up the picture to show him the measurement, he said to me "Ya gonna show me some new fangled technology?!" My response "Um no, I don't think a picture with accurate measurements constitutes new fangled technology." Finally he gets the correct part and just before he approached me, he tears off the price tag from the part before he gives it to me. I asked him how much it was and his response " We'll call it even". Guess what, it's NOT EVEN, I had money owed to me for the difference. The initial part was larger and more expensive. I don't care if it's 20 cents or $2. I want my money back. That's theft, them not giving customers the money that's owed to them. So the sarcastic, snarky comment coupled with their corrupt sales practices makes me never want to go there again. I'm just concerned for all the elderly people that go there that they are ripping off. First and last time you steal from me. read more

Today I walked into this Ace store looking for a specific shovel. A older man asked what was I looking for I mentioned a Snowplow wide shovel. First, the employee had an attitude problem and said whatever he had on display that was it. To top it off didn't even say when the store would that shovel. Definitely do not recommend this store. Horrible service. Definitely will go to another location from now on. read more

They are hard working people from the neighborhood and know my family by name-they've been supplying us with our household fix me up amenities for over 30 decades PS love that they are open till 7:30 on weekdays ps screw Lowe's and their paint! Okay, I think this place is okay. A few problems though.. Well I was looking for an air hose for my bike today. An employee got us the hose right away! The cashier was good. She was fast and nice to talk to. When I was going home, there was a truck for "Ponce's Landscape". The guy who worked in the truck or the employee didn't pay attention to a truck behind them. I thought they were blind. It was ILLEGAL to not move their truck. They were forced to move their truck. Well, my experience was a solid B+. Not bad, but that "incident" was the big downfall. This is the old school hardware store that will one day be a thing of the past. From getting keys cut right the first time, to have your screen window re done. This past spring took the blade of my lawnmower there to be sharpen, very well done and a great value. Mower is much better from the service. Last year they were open during the snow storm, one of the only business to be there for the area! read more

They open up around 6am, weekends as well. This is great for the early birds, and those dragged along to be a grunt. They also offer great service. Went there yesterday 9/2 to look for a particular electrical plate. Guy was rude when he asked what I wanted, then proceeded to grab an item off the wall and tossed it at me then walked away. I immediately realized it wasn't what I needed and called out to him saying that. He kept walking and said it was. Walked out, tossing the item on the counter. I get better treatment from the Home Depot folks (and that's not saying much). Will never be back. read more

Went to this location this past Saturday. I had been going there since I live really close and it's convenient. I had to make two copies of a key, the employee that took care of us was really rude. He grabbed the key from my hand without saying a word and started searching from the models. I really felt uncomfortable and would not recommend this store to anyone. They should not treat their costumers like this. read more

I've moved from the neighborhood and I really miss that store, no other hardware store treats people the way thay do. This is the prefect neighborhood joint. It may not look like much but the people who work there are awesome. They take the time to find the right item for you. I am handicapped and they give me vip service every time and bring my purchase to my car. The employees are all 5 star. There are so many things that they are able to do. been in this area for over 25 years and have an ancient 2 flat that each 1/2 hour job requires a 1/2 day. One particular battle was a pipe fitting for a tub drain..after 3 trips back and forth and me trying to sketch a picture, (pre-digital cameras/phones) the fellow who was helping me cleared it with mgmt and went to my home to see the project I was battling. We went back to the store, sold me the correct fitting and FINALLY got the project done. They are never condescending, which is a huge plus. And as another review mentions-yes, they are higher than the big stores, but not by much- and when you couple that with seeing a familiar face, plus the knowledge they share.....they offer THE BEST VALUE BY FAR. read more
