These guys really know their business. They are the real "helpful hardware men" as the commercial states and a pleasant change from the giant and typically unhelpful Home Depot. This ACE has repeatedly saved me time and money by suggesting better solutions for home repair. The selection is surprisingly good also and usually has at least a couple of solutions to every home repair problem. Just ask and they will tell you the best solution! On one occasion I had called a professional plumber who declared my kitchen plumbing problem "too hard" with the plumber complaining about the depth of the sink and the relatively high location of the single drain pipe (for three drains). The plumber then slipped out the back, leaving me to solve my own problem. I took a trip to the ACE and the associate at this ACE spent over an hour helping me solve this plumbing problem, with the ACE associate placing more than a dozen plumbing parts on the floor in the proper order... I went home and by the end of the day it was working. On another occasion, I went to this ACE thinking I would buy some WD-40 to loosen rusted screws in order to remove a broken screen door. The ACE associate showed me the WD-40 but then suggested an alternate product "PB Blaster" which I purchased on their recommendation. I returned home and applied the PB Blaster to the rusted screws on the screen door. Several screws were rusted on tight and resisted my efforts to loosen them. The instruction for the PB Blaster advises waiting a few minutes for the Blaster to soak in, so it seemed like a good time to take a lunch break. I returned from lunch to find the rusted screws popped out, and the screen door on the ground. Wow, just wow. So, if there is such a thing as a home repair magician, these guys are it! Really enjoy this place. They always have just what I'm looking for, and with it being so close to home, there is nothing to complain about. I've lived in the area a few years and have been coming here since I discovered this location. Every employee I have had contact with has been helpful and friendly. You really feel like they care about your home projects, and offer help and often times advice, even when you didn't think it was necessary. I've always been able to find what I was looking for here. Its on the smaller size for most Ace Hardware stores, they still seem to have all the normal things you are use to getting at any local Ace. They really are my one-stop-shop for all things outdoors. The parking lot can get pretty crazy, but remember they have street parking off of Cermak so try to circle once if you can't find a spot. Keep being a great local spot in our neighborhood! I have no plans on coming back anytime soon, but you know how home projects go, I'm sure I will be back in a week. read more

A great place to get the parts and supplies for many home repairs. They can help you with just about any repair project. Helpful, and friendly staff. We come here every few weeks with different projects.I never have to go to Menards or Home Depot. These people know what they are doing! I actually look around the house, to see if I can come up with a something they can't help me with, and I haven't been able to stump them with a repair project yet. read more

Yes, I'm really giving 5 stars to a rundown looking local hardware store. It's just that good. PROS: Excellent customer service! It is impossible to walk the aisles for more than 30 seconds without someone offering to help you -- and really meaning it! Exactly the opposite of what you might experience at Home Depot. But like Home Depot, this store has everything you would need. I don't really know how they do it, because the store is tiny. But somehow, I have *always* found what i needed here. CONS: Really small parking lot. Be careful not to back over the concrete barrier, small children, or other cars. I don't know if this store rents or repairs power tools. But I wouldn't be surprised. read more

I've come back several times in one day to get help fixing a leaking bathroom sink and each and every time I came back, they were very friendly and helpful. I am so greatful. The store appears deceivingly small for all the hardware and seasonal items they carry. 4-stars for great service! These folks are friendly and helpful. If you even look like you have a question, they are on you like white on rice. Though it's a small hardware store, they have yet to not have some of the oddest little things (I went in looking for a small ventilation fan for my bathroom and *BOOM*, there it was). The only reason that I give 4 instead of 5 stars is because I went in looking for chandelier light bulbs one day and their bulb section was a crazy mess making it really difficult to find this very particular type bulb I needed. Thankfully, a helpful salesperson popped out of the woodwork to help me navigate the mess. Good, neighborhood hardware store - I'm glad it's right down the road. read more

I much prefer going to the local hardware store than to cavernous places like Home Depot, Menards and Lowes (where you usually just get lost and the staff generally are NOT all that knowledgeable). Of the local places, Teletron has some items that you can't find at other local places. So, if the Ace on Ogden doesn't have what I need, I try Teletron. And if it's not there, then I try the Ace on Pershing. The Jack's Tools...then the caverns.... read more

While they can't boast of carrying such necessities as tube socks, canned tuna or beef jerky (yes, a blatant Menards reference; and maybe Ace does carry these things and I just haven't stumbled upon them yet...I digress), this hardware store DOES carry most everything one would need for a home improvement or fixer project. Trust me, I've spent more than my share of time and money in the big box hardware stores, and I find this Ace to be a breath of fresh air. The staff are always helpful and they know exactly what they do and don't carry and where it's located in the store. Their prices seem comparable to the big guys, and after about 10 trips there, they have always had exactly what I needed. It's nice to know places like this still exist. :) read more

I reviewed this shop in 2011 and I needed to do it again after today's experience. I brought in a broken cabinet handle hoping to find a piece that would fit so I could reattach it. It's a non-standard size so it wasn't immediately clear what I needed. But multiple staff members tried to help, testing out one solution after another, until one guy rigged up something that worked. Plus, he put it all together for me, so all I had to do was screw the handle back on when I got home. All for the (very low) cost of the parts. You just don't get that level of service and attention at a big box store--this is just one of many times the employees at this Ace have gone above and beyond to help me solve a difficult repair problem. I've been doing business with these guys for well over 30 years. The best customer service around from top to bottom. When you walk in the door the cashiers greet you if they're not busy. Soon after that you'll be asked if you need help finding anything. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and quick but not rushed. The last time I was in there Tony took real good care of me. While I was waiting for him to get my item at least three other associates asked me if I needed help. Definitely not a big box store, but the customer service here is way above what you'll find at any of the other local Ace or True Value. Nowadays if I know they carry something I go to Tele-Tron Ace instead of the big guys warehouse store. Prices are usually not any different and even if it is a little more it's worth it for the service and convenience, not to mention supporting local business. read more
