Visited this week for the first time -- pretty delicious! I've been missing my fave fried chicken sandwich spot in Baltimore (from Ekiben) and this is the best local spot I've found in comparison. The papaya slaw tastes great with the fried chicken and everything was flavorful. I also got a kid order of the rice/chicken with sweet chili sauce which was a large portion. I gave 3 stars for the descent of the food. I think they used the regular spaghetti noodles for the garlic noodles. I am ok with that but for the price of about $17 they should have use a thick udon noodles or something better than spaghetti noodles. The chicken wings their big and cooked fresh but the garlic noodles are little blunt. read more

Wow was I surprised how good the food we ordered was. I've been jaded by the garlic noodles I've had lately, but MAN these garlic noodles are amazing. They're more like spaghetti rather than the thick chewy noodles you typically see, but they are sooo flavorful and not dry. We paired it with the Thai fried chicken wings and the skin was perfectly crispy. The marinade was so good (mild spicy and limey), I didn't even need the dipping sauce. 10/10 ordering anytime I'm in Berkeley again. read more

Really good thai and southern fusion! The spicy chicken wings with garlic noodles were delicious. I noticed a few people mention that the garlic noodles are pretty one-dimensional but personally I find that to be a benefit to the wings which are packed with so much flavor. I tend to treat the garlic noodles as a simple, delicious, palate reset before eating another wing. Showed my brother pictures of the food and he immediately placed an order and picked it up lol read more

Stopped by the Station for the first time for take out and was not disappointed! The fried chicken was delicious, and the slaw took it to another level. The sriracha mayo adds some heat, but it's not too spicy, just right imho. Was looking for some comfort food and this hit the spot - I'll be back! read more

Really good food. Was in the mood for a sandwich and decided to try this place. What a great melange of flavors. The chicken was breaded but not too heavy, was a nice light coating that didn't take away from chicken flavor. The bun was nice and big, with a good neat to bread ratio. They had nice toppings. A nice semi-spicy mayo and some wonderful homemade papaya and carrot pickles. The sandwich was big and definitely hit the spot. I will be trying their other dishes in the future! read more

I had a craving for a fried chicken sandwich and fries. I even considered going to Jack-In-The-Box, but.... Ew. Then I read about Southside Station (on Yelp) and decided to give it a try. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. Chicken was crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sauces and vegetables were delicious. I just wish it had been a wee bit spicier, seeing as it was billed as a spicy chicken sandwich. It was pretty greasy - you have to be in the mood for grease - but that was what I was expecting. They were out of fries and offered me brussels sprouts instead. For some, that might sound terrible, but I happen to LOVE brussels sprouts, especially when they are cooked until caramelized and topped with a yummy sauce. I've come here a few times after my initial review, and I have only positive things to say! In my opinion, these are my favorite items. The chicken wings :- Absolutely delicious, they're spiced and cooked to perfection. They have a Thai flavor to them. The iced tea is lemony and unsweetened, which is exactly the way I like it. A must try. I also had the mashed potatoes which were a really nice surprise. They were warm and soft and also had a few chives on top which made it perfect. read more

The food is so good. This is my 2nd time ordering from this place and it seems to just get better. The first time I ordered was when the SIP started. I had the family combo that time, and it was DELICIOUS!! I recently saw that they were serving pizza now too, so of course I had to try. Ordered the family combo and their pepperoni pizza for dinner tonight and am blown away at the scrumptiousness. My SO and DD both approve. Would highly recommend ordering from this place. A LOT of Good Food for a Good Price. Our two meals from this restaurant have been the best two meals we have had in ALONG TIME. Ok I'm just a little weird with fusion food, but Southside Station has converted me. Their green curry chicken pizza is amazing, and the spicy pork basil pizza is soooo good. I recommend doing the half/half so you get the best of both worlds. If you're not in the mood for pizza, then try their fried chicken sandwich! Tender and full of flavor, you won't be disappointed. It's one of my go-to places if I'm in the mood for a non-traditional pizza, or Thai food. read more

Umm... the best fried brussels sprouts ever. They were so good I wanted to go back the next day. They came with a mayo sauce that elevated them to the next level. The chicken wings were also excellent. (One thing to note, the garlic noodles were good but were spaghetti noodles when I was expecting chow mein noodles or something similar). Wow. Incredible food! So so good. My daughter is in the same class as one of the daughters of the owners and they catered a special lunch for their class this week. This place is great! We ordered the family pizza meal and it was seriously some of the best pizzas we've had in CA in a while! The crust is so delicious, the sauce is so good, and fresh toppings are great. The Thai basil pork is seriously good. I also tried their boba milk tea--boba was cooked well and the tea was very flavorful. They have another family meal option on their menu that I'm planning to try, and excited to check try their sandwiches for lunch. On top of all this, the couple running it is so sweet. I love Thai food and I love pizza. The Thai flavored pizza is the best of both world! Loved everything we ordered!

We just tried this out on a whim and my partner has declared it his favorite Thai place in Berkeley. We shared the fried chicken thighs and the green curry pizza, which were both fantastic (and plentiful -- several slices of the pizza left for tomorrow). The green curry pizza was spicy and delicious, plenty of Thai basil and a great crust and sliced Thai eggplants (not bitter, which they can sometimes be). For anyone familiar with Veggie Crust in the Boston area, we've decided this is the Thai equivalent (and I think they underestimate its dimensions, it seemed larger than listed). But the chicken blew us away -- a heaping pile of fried chicken thighs, crispy garlic, really complex and delicious spicy dipping sauce. I don't know why people don't do fried chicken thighs more often -- they're the juiciest part of meat and so easy and satisfying to eat (especially boneless!). I also tried the lychee sangria (tasty). We called at 7 and picked up our order 25 minutes later, easy pickup right at the door and lots of parking out front. Just to note that it was a bit hard to hear over the phone (though our order was all there!) -- may be easier to place the order through their website. In any case, we'll be back. read more

We work in Berkeley and are constantly trying to find a good restaurant for lunch. Our options are somewhat limited since we only have 1 hour to order, pick up/dine in and get back to the grind. Last Sunday my foodie friend and I were super excited after reading all the positive and mouthwatering reviews, not to mention those "gotta have it now!!!" food pics to try Southside Station. Rarely do we get scheduled together on a weekend so it was a win win. Unfortunately SS wasn't opened on Sun or Mon. BUT TUESDAY there was no stopping us. We ordered the chicken sliders, spicy chicken wings, combo chicken sandwich, fried chicken thighs with garlic noodle combo and 2 lychee sangrias to seal the deal. When we went to pick up we were greeted by Louie himself. Everything was packed beautifully and ready for us. Well delicious doesn't fully describe the wonderful lunch feast we got. Every single order was lip smacking good and plentiful. You know the meal is good when you stay up til 2am perusing those food pics that same night. Btw lychee sangria also got an overwhelming thumbs up. Today is Wednesday and what do we do for lunch? Go to SS again! Got more chicken sliders with a generous side of crispy curly fries, more chicken thighs with garlic noodles (garlicky but not greasy) combos and we added a new item the spicy basil pork with a sunny side up egg over rice. Yep definitely spicy and the egg was fried to perfection so that the yolk oozes onto the rice when you fork it. This time we were helped by I believe Louie's wife. Super nice. Again everything was packed beautifully. Had a little problem with the credit card app being frozen, bill was $65.55. She apologized for the delay and asked if we had cash instead. Quoted us $65 only. She was too sweet, really nowadays who underestimates a bill? Honestly they deserve the full amount plus more for providing such wonderful food and great service especially during these difficult times. Tomorrow's Thursday guess where we're going for lunch? Yep yep SS - can't wait to try their spicy pork pizza and the green curry pizza. Thank God my foodie friend is so super cool and doesn't mind eating yummy food from the same place 3 days in a row (maybe 4 lol). All of us who've tried SS's food wholeheartedly agree that you can't go wrong with any item on their menu. Go out and order!!! Great food made by great peps. read more
