Oh where do I begin...... I think the pink hair girl hates people and her job. I ordered a small burger and wifey orders a kids chicken sandwich. I say no pickles on the chicken sandwich and she says there are no pickles. Easy right? We get our food. She bites into the sandwich and there's pickles. I bring it to the front and show the pink hair girl and she says "oh I didn't know". I then say my wifey is allergic. She takes it and brings it back to the cook and they talk. She then brings back the same sandwich w/ the pickles taken off and the wifey said "didn't the pickles touch the patty!" (cause the bite is pretty obvious) and the pink hair girl says "do you want us to remake it?" We said yes (and I remind her that wifey is allergic) and she storms back to the cook. I came here on a Saturday afternoon to get some burgers and wings with friends! We had a whole big platter and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The place is small with only a few tables. The cashier was super kind and greeted us at the door though! He helped us recommend items to get, and gave us our food after ten-ish minutes. These burgers were pretty good! The bun is super soft, and I love the crispness of a smash burger. My favorite was definitely the bulgogi one, I loved the seasoning and the sauce it had. Oh G is an Oh no for me! I came here because their Oakland store had an elite event and I missed it because I was sick. Sometimes when there is a great restaurant the family opens another out post and sometimes that apple falls far from the tree. That happened here. But, I was obsessed with the idea of going, so when I saw that they had a store in Albany, I knew that I had my chance to go. And yes, I made the special trip up Solano Ave to visit. I parked and he waited in the car with our Costco haul while I went inside, placed the order and waited. He got a burger with seasoned fries. Why, I was told that they had a gluten free burger like the Oakland outpost does. It turns out, that isn't the case. I felt good because so many people were squashed in there in the kitchen and waiting in the dining area. It was standing room only and they had a constant stream of customers coming in. There has been a lot of buzz about them, undeserved, but read on. The store was nice and clean, but the service was very slow even though they had about 3-4 people in the kitchen. The operation looked efficient, but people were waiting for an extremely long time for their burgers. Which wouldn't be a problem if the burger was good, but... First strike, they don't have a gluten-free bun. The Oakland store does because someone from the store answered my question about this. I asked the question in Albany and a fellow customer answered that they probably do have one. Considering that Oakland did, I went. So no burger for me. I ordered the Wagyu burger for my husband and dropped $28 for the burger and seasoned fries. I had high expectations. Second strike, the burger was only OK. A quote from the hubs, "it's OK. I wouldn't take a special trip to get there." But there are burger spots that are further away he'd travel to. Also, when paying expensive steakhouse prices for a burger, I had higher expectations. It should have been much better than it was. And my husband will eat almost anything and like it, so that says a lot! Third strike, I got my hands on the fries and all I could taste was the sugar. This is worse than when Boss Burger would forget to season our fries, which they did a lot. Here not seasoning would have been a favor to us. My husband, who loves a good fry, pretty much left them in the bag. Which was good for me because I didn't get to eat dinner, so I noshed on them until I could get home and heat up a couple of breakfast sausages and broccoli. Never again! Not worth it. So, why the two stars, they didn't kill us and I wasn't glutened by the fries. So, I think they have separate fryers. But maybe not and I got lucky. I wouldn't be so upset, but the amount of sugar on them. They do have a Korean fried chicken spot and I wanted to come back to get some of the chicken for him to taste, but now they won't see either of us. I attended the soft opening on Friday evening.  It was fairly quiet on Solano Avenue that evening (probably due to school being out and folks travelling on vacation for the holiday season).  The order station is very near the door, and the place has 2 small tables (2 tops) and a long counter with seating for 8.  My wife & I ordered our food and sat down at the counter.  I ordered the Bulgogi burger and a soda while my wife chose the single burger combo (with fries and a soda).  Unfortunately, the milkshake machine wasn't available yet, so I'll have to get one on a future visit. After ordering, we sat down at the counter with our drinks.  Pretty quickly, our food came.  My burger was very juicy and extremely flavorful with 2 different types of sauces on it (aioli and bulgogi sauce) .  My wife enjoyed her burger and noted that the fries were very crispy.  On the counter, there were bottles of ketchup, mustard, tabasco and Tapatio along with small paper cups.  My wife doesn't like ketchup, so she appreciated the mustard to dip her fries in. I love ohgane kbbq (the mother restaurant of this burger place) and have heard a lot about chimmelier (the chicken joint from LA that also has food featured here). I made mine a double and he made his a triple. We thought this would be a true style smash burger, so extra patties sounded like a necessity. We were wrong lol. When the staff brought our burgers, they were literally giggling and said they took pics because they think this is the biggest burger they have made yet. LMAOOOOO. The patties were thick. This was barely a smash burger which was unfortunate but the flavor totally made up for that! The sauce was fantastic and it tasted super fresh. Really was like a was eating bulgogi in my burger! Wow. My husband had been wanting to try this place. He ordered it to go. The hamburgers were decent. Fries were flavorless and under salted. Tater tots were not crispy. But the worst part of the meal was definitely the milkshakes that were $10 each. We ordered vanilla and strawberry. They both had weird flavor and the texture was off. My kids ages 3 and 5 even refused to drink them. They were left on our counter over night and separated into a watery bottom layer and top fluffy chunky layer. I highly doubt these were made with actual milk and ice cream. Because it should look like milk and not water at the bottom when melted. I can't believe this place is a chain. We ordered the wagyu burger, cheese curds, and wings with galbi and honey butter and an Oreo milkshake. From the get go, the cheese curds were the best thing about this meal. However, the wagyu burger, specifically the O G sauce, made me completely lose my appetite. The honey butter chicken was very mid. The galbi was alright. The Oreo milkshake, however, was not good at all. Maybe there was something off with their milk, but the color looked like chocolate, and it tasted like paper. We did not touch the milkshake at all. Attached is a photo. Now this is where Oh G Burger deserves the one star; if not zero star review. When asked for a refund for the milkshake, I was shocked to discover that they don't offer refunds for food that customers obviously had a problem with and didn't touch. That's fine, but I was looking for any form of compensation. Me and the guy at the front ended up going back and forth for 10 minutes, about this 8 dollar Oreo milkshake that tasted like paper and was not touched, and at the end we reached an agreement (a vanilla milkshake which also had that same weird aftertaste but was better than the Oreo. ) I'm disappointed in the service , the management, and the extremely overpriced food. B Short rib smash burger is quality meat, flavorful caramelized onions, classic American cheese and pickles on a greasy bun with their white sauce. Honestly the white sauce left something to be desired. It's mainly mayo with some soy or fish sauce which adds too much salt to an already salty burger. It needs heat in the sauce to balance the fattiness of the burger. Recommend horseradish. We found ourselves adding a lot of yellow mustard to the burger. My favorite thing about this restaurant are many ~$10 snack like options and $6 kids options. My husband said the cheese corn was the most interesting item he's had in years, in a good way. Nice thicccck cheese, mixed with corn, and a garlic seasoning. There aren't enough places to grab a snack on Solano, so this is huge that they have many options that fill the afternoon need for a little something. I love that I can order a kids burger and avoid a big basket of fries (you can add fries for a reasonable additional cost). The kids $6 burger is a banger, super juicy on a soft buttered bun. My other kid loved the popcorn chicken and Korean cartoons playing behind the bar seats. Cobb salad was refreshing, but the ranch dressing was the best we've ever had. It is so perfectly balanced, herby, salty, creamy, ever so slightly sweet. I hope this is an option with the chicken! This place has great branding, the inside of the place was clean and well-managed, and the pictures of the food looked great. The cat mascot is really fun and I like what they're doing with the overall concept. I was hyped to have a great experience here. It didn't work out. Problem #1 - The piece of chicken in the sandwich was much too large. It was probably 2x the size of the bun. This makes it completely impossible to eat like a normal sandwich unless you can unhinge your jaw like a jungle python. Like most people, I can't do that. Unfortunately, plastic knives don't seem to be an option at this place so you just have to pick it apart as best you can to get an edible bite (which is a fingernails-on-chalkboard experience if you're just trying to get a quick bite to eat for lunch and not make a huge mess). If it's a value thing, why not just cut it to the correct size in the kitchen and give me a side of nuggets? Why make it larger than my entire hand? Problem #2 - In order to cook the giant piece of chicken completely in the center, they have to cook it longer. This means the edges of the chicken, including your first bite of the "sandwich", will be an overcooked piece of flavorless chicken jerky that's drier than the sahara desert. Problem #3 - As mentioned, the seasoning doesn't make any sense. The dryness of the chicken is compounded by the fact that it's covered in chili powder, which makes it even more dry. Maybe the amount of chili powder is an overcompensation for the underseasoned, bland flavor of the chicken without it. Reminder that this sandwich costs $15. Plus tax. Plus tip. For chili-powder-flavored chicken jerky. Problem #4 - Minimal sauce. A decent chicken sandwich usually includes some reasonable amount of mayo or other type of sauce. This sandwich had maybe a 1/2 teaspoon of sauce on each bun. Maybe. The sandwich costs $15, not sure why they're cheaping out on the sauce. Maybe the idea is that the slaw will fill that role here, but it fails to because the giant slab of dry chicken is so huge and unmanageable. Problem #5 - Pickles are a key flavor. The piece of chicken was enormous and there was one pickle. Honestly, just what is going on here with this logic? Isn't chicken more expensive than pickles? Problem #5 - The bun was an overtoasted, greasy mess. Honestly, just gross. The bottom was slimy to the touch. For a $15 sandwich, give me a lightly toasted brioche bun. The burger grease adds nothing to this experience. If you want a great chicken sandwich with no complications, The Bird in SF is probably the gold standard. If that's too far, you could hit up any number of other great chicken sandwich places in the bay (Kowbird, Hotbird, Dave's Hot Chicken, etc). Even a chicken sandwich from Popeyes is better than this place. Honestly, even a McDonald's chicken sandwich is a better experience than this. And that says a lot. read more

Okay, so this one caught me off guard a bit. I went into ordering my meal thinking, "Meh, I might as well try this new burger spot." Then, two bites in, I was staring at my burger incredulously thinking, "This is the best burger on Solano Avenue by a mile, and might be one of the better fast casual burgers I've had, period." The smash burger was the highlight of the items I tried. Caramelized onions are interwoven with the crispy crusty outer edges of the juicy beef patty. Melty American cheese, a very mayo-forward Oh G sauce, and briny pickles adorn the burger, which are all housed by a soft potato bun. So simple. Nowhere to hide. Just a beautifully executed burger. The Bulgogi Burger was fine. I liked the pickled onions, but it may have been a bit over sauced for my taste. The ssamjang aioli didn't bring much to the party. As with the smash burger, the patty was cooked perfectly. The French fries were fried well. And the seasoned fries were pretty darn good, as they were tossed with a sweet spice blend. The cauliflower nuggets were tasty! Sort of like Korean fried chicken--fried and sauced--but just cauliflower instead. Shrimp toast was a tad oily, yet still well seasoned, crispy and delicious. Cheese corn was a lot of cheese and corn (think baked mac and cheese), so I guess I got what l ordered. It just wasn't my cup of tea. A few additional notes: the burgers are a bit expensive. I feel that the bulgogi burger is especially overpriced. Also, the inclusion of lettuce, tomatoes, raw onion, etc. are all additional up-charges (this is not the Spirit Airlines of burgers, but come on). When I learned that Oh G Burger had opened on upper Solano I was excited, bookmarked it and made a lunch date for today w/ Nina. Soon we were brought our burgers, mine w/ a napkin and plastic fork, which I didn't use, Nina's was a California burger. She asked for a knife to cut it in half and the man delivering it said they had no knives but they would be happy to cut it in half for her, which they did. When I bit into my burger, which is served on a sesame seed bun, I was very disappointed to discover it was well done, not remotely close to rare. It wasn't even medium. It was just overcooked and dry, not juicy, as the smashburger had been despite not being rare. I ate it, but not happily. Nina was happier w/ her burger. Maybe she will return, since she lives w/in walking distance if it's not raining. I may give them one more try in a few weeks. Otherwise I will go back to Montclair, since I had a better experience there. The ambiance in Berkeley isn't as appealing. It's much smaller, w/ no paintings of vintage cars on the walls, although I see in the photos that there is a cute mural on the wall that was behind me, significantly less seating, and a radio station playing overhead rather than the soundtrack of 50s/60s pop and rock tunes. Three stars is generous for my experience today. Were it not for the sweetness of the staff and the Caesar salad, which I liked, though it wasn't well drained, leaving the croutons soggy rather than crispy, it would be one or two stars. When the young woman behind the counter came to bus our table and cheerily asked if it had been good, I said no and gave her my honest assessment. She looked startled and said she would speak to the cook. She also said she would speak w/ management about the wet floor when I commented on it, and she cautioned that it's very slick when wet. I have gone here at least every other week since they opened and they are consistently excellent. I always order two single patties with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Service is usually very quick, and they have indoor and outdoor seating which is important for me. Flavorful burger, fries, tots, milkshake and this is my top spot in town to recommend! read more

I love a good burger and was excited to try this place out. Overall quality of the burger was excellent. Taste wise, I honestly like Trueburger better, but it was still a very good burger. I wanted to taste the quality of the meat so I got a double cheeseburger combo. On the negative side, I think the bun is not a good pairing as it doesn't hold up to this juicy burger. Squashes down and gets soaked. Fries also seemed like a total afterthought and were very mediocre. Very basic. What really kinda bothers me though is them charging 50 cents for two tiny pieces of flimsy lettuce. Like c'mon, u really need to charge extra for that?? Will probably go back cause not that many good options in the area and the burger was pretty good. read more
