Okay, so this one caught me off guard a bit. I went into ordering my meal thinking, "Meh, I might as well try this new burger spot." Then, two bites in, I was staring at my burger incredulously thinking, "This is the best burger on Solano Avenue by a mile, and might be one of the better fast casual burgers I've had, period." The smash burger was the highlight of the items I tried. Caramelized onions are interwoven with the crispy crusty outer edges of the juicy beef patty. Melty American cheese, a very mayo-forward Oh G sauce, and briny pickles adorn the burger, which are all housed by a soft potato bun. So simple. Nowhere to hide. Just a beautifully executed burger. The Bulgogi Burger was fine. I liked the pickled onions, but it may have been a bit over sauced for my taste. The ssamjang aioli didn't bring much to the party. As with the smash burger, the patty was cooked perfectly. The French fries were fried well. And the seasoned fries were pretty darn good, as they were tossed with a sweet spice blend. The cauliflower nuggets were tasty! Sort of like Korean fried chicken--fried and sauced--but just cauliflower instead. Shrimp toast was a tad oily, yet still well seasoned, crispy and delicious. Cheese corn was a lot of cheese and corn (think baked mac and cheese), so I guess I got what l ordered. It just wasn't my cup of tea. A few additional notes: the burgers are a bit expensive. I feel that the bulgogi burger is especially overpriced. Also, the inclusion of lettuce, tomatoes, raw onion, etc. are all additional up-charges (this is not the Spirit Airlines of burgers, but come on). I also ordered the tater tots, but they didn't travel well (tater tots rarely do, so that was sort of my bad). So, overall, great burger. Promising additional items. Best burger on solano by far. Patty was juicy and great toppings. Korean Fried Chicken definitely a must get. It was super crunchy but the sauce felt a little too dry. Bulgogi fries were good but they could have put a lot more toppings with the amount of fries that they give. The fries themselves were pretty average but the toppings made it a lot better. Toppings had included white sauce, pickles, cheese, and meat. Good service. read more

Wow, I've been here a couple of times and thought they were good, and I especially liked their prices. I was about to go get takeout, and I looked at their prices, noticing that they raised them significantly. Not just a buck or two, but $4 more for a triple. That's 20 bucks for a Smashburger. That's not that big. Not coming back here, unfortunately, especially for them not being around that long at this location and increasing the prices drastically that quickly. Ventured up to the hills of Solano Ave to try this place that popped up on my DoorDash. Very nicely decorated spot. The parking was a bit rough for midday BUT the burgers were delicious. When I learned that Oh G Burger had opened on upper Solano I was excited, bookmarked it and made a lunch date for today w/ Nina. I parked in the Mechanics Bank lot and walked over, carrying my umbrella in case the rain returned. When I walked in to the restaurant I was surprised how wet and slick the floor was. I wasn't pleased, as it's dangerous but I was cautious, so no falls. I had attended the YEE at Oh G's Montclair location and had been enthralled by the décor, the food, the overhead music, the service, everything. I had a smashburger there and decided the next time I was there I would have a bulgogi burger. I bought a Caesar salad to take home and really liked it. Well, the next time was today in Berkeley not Montclair. I ordered my bulgogi burger rare and another Caesar salad to take home. The young woman working behind the counter was lovely, warm and friendly. Nina had chosen a table and we took our seats. Nina had brought us waters. Soon we were brought our burgers, mine w/ a napkin and plastic fork, which I didn't use, Nina's was a California burger. She asked for a knife to cut it in half and the man delivering it said they had no knives but they would be happy to cut it in half for her, which they did. When I bit into my burger, which is served on a sesame seed bun, I was very disappointed to discover it was well done, not remotely close to rare. It wasn't even medium. It was just overcooked and dry, not juicy, as the smashburger had been despite not being rare. I ate it, but not happily. Nina was happier w/ her burger. Maybe she will return, since she lives w/in walking distance if it's not raining. I may give them one more try in a few weeks. Otherwise I will go back to Montclair, since I had a better experience there. The ambiance in Berkeley isn't as appealing. It's much smaller, w/ no paintings of vintage cars on the walls, although I see in the photos that there is a cute mural on the wall that was behind me, significantly less seating, and a radio station playing overhead rather than the soundtrack of 50s/60s pop and rock tunes. Three stars is generous for my experience today. Were it not for the sweetness of the staff and the Caesar salad, which I liked, though it wasn't well drained, leaving the croutons soggy rather than crispy, it would be one or two stars. When the young woman behind the counter came to bus our table and cheerily asked if it had been good, I said no and gave her my honest assessment. She looked startled and said she would speak to the cook. She also said she would speak w/ management about the wet floor when I commented on it, and she cautioned that it's very slick when wet. It's easily remedied w/ mats. Looking at the menu photos II see there are far more options than just burgers. read more

I have gone here at least every other week since they opened and they are consistently excellent. I always order two single patties with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Service is usually very quick, and they have indoor and outdoor seating which is important for me. Flavorful burger, fries, tots, milkshake and this is my top spot in town to recommend! read more

I love a good burger and was excited to try this place out. Overall quality of the burger was excellent. Taste wise, I honestly like Trueburger better, but it was still a very good burger. I wanted to taste the quality of the meat so I got a double cheeseburger combo. On the negative side, I think the bun is not a good pairing as it doesn't hold up to this juicy burger. Squashes down and gets soaked. Fries also seemed like a total afterthought and were very mediocre. Very basic. What really kinda bothers me though is them charging 50 cents for two tiny pieces of flimsy lettuce. Like c'mon, u really need to charge extra for that?? Our order: Breakfast burrito Single burger - everything except aioli Single burger - everything except cheese/aioli 2 x fries For a few years, I've been on a search for (in my opinion) the best breakfast burrito in the east bay (in particular Berkeley/Albany area). Up until yesterday, my #1 has been the beef machaca breakfast burrito at Taqueria Talavera. Oh G burger's breakfast burrito is the current champ. Avocado, tomato, egg, ground beef, bacon, cheese, TATER TOTS... perfect combination of those ingredients and a great tortilla wrap that is soft with a slight crunch. I have a few other places I need to try but at the moment, Oh G is on top. I still love the beef machaca at Talavera and will eventually do a legit side by side comparison. As for the burgers, the kids loved them. I haven't tried them yet so I can't review. The fries are fantastic. I'm not a fan of salty fries so it's great that they don't salt them. They offer salt but honestly, you don't need it. Overall, I would absolutely recommend trying Oh G burger. AND, if you are also on the hunt for the "perfect" breakfast burrito.... Let's begin with the location on Solano Avenue . Albany/Berkeley. There's ample parking. It's a small restaurant it was very clean. The customer service was excellent. The young lady who took our order was attentive and nice. We ordered 2 burgers Waygu burgers two fries and a strawberry milkshake. The order was brought out in exactly 12 minutes. It was hot the burgers are well seasoned and juicy literally the juices are running down your arm therefore dress appropriately because you may wear a little home, crisp lettuce fresh tomatoes and a sesame seed potato bun the fries were crispy yet soft in the middle I asked for the Oh G sauce on the side. Sauces can change the flavor therefore, if I'm trying a new spot and I'm unfamiliar with their spices or sauces it's best to try the meal without the sauce first. The burger was delicious without it in my opinion and I dipped my fries in the oh g sauce. Came and visited from Oregon with my family and to our surprise they had a Korean fried chicken menu as well! We ordered the Buldak Chicken burger. Chris said it was dangerously spicy but we wanted to try it anyways. If you're a spice lover you'll love this!
