This is a little late of a response, but we hired Southern Sugar Bakery to make decorative cookies for our Gender Reveal. We found them on Google, and we got on the phone to make all the arrangements. Their customer service throughout the entire process, from initial contact to receiving the cookies, was top-notch. The bakery is obviously located in NC, and we live in NJ. So, they shipped the cookies to us in very secure packages, with bubble wrap and additional padding. They also shipped packages to California and Nashville. Four dozen cookies, four separate destinations, and not a single cookie was damaged!! The end result was the most beautiful cookies we've ever seen! And, then we ate some, and we couldn't stop. They're delicious! Ordered a cookie cake for my son's bday which was supposed to be Saturday 3/2. Son started feeling bad and tested positive for the flu on Wednesday 2/28. Tried calling and emailing daily to ask to reschedule cake for the following weekend. They do not answer the phones, return calls, or reply to emails. I ordered 12 dozen custom printed cookies with the company logo on them. Tracy was awesome to work with, friendly and super responsive. She advised to finalize the order online, which I thought would be a pain, however it was actually seamless! The cookies came printed perfectly with a seashell border piped on them. When I opened the box, I knew I was in for a treat as they smelled spectacular and tasted wonderful. I've now used Southern Sugar Bakery for a couple of special events. They made Little Blue Truck cookies for my son's first birthday, and Star Trek cookies for my husband's 40th. Both times, the cookies and service were perfect! Guests were so impressed with the designs and the fact that they tasted great, too! Ordering was easy as they provided very details FAQs on their website. Any questions I did have, I submitted online, and they quickly provided clarification. I think my favorite part is that you don't end up stuck with a dozen of just one design. They can do various breakdowns even up to the half dozen option - though you do need a minimum cookie quantity order. I've actually adjusted my budget for future events to allow for both cookies and cake because I love an excuse to order from them. I'm a sucker for sugar cookies already, so delicious, custom-designed ones just make an event that much more special. Also, their pricing is pretty reasonable for their custom designs. It isn't necessarily a 'cheap' dessert option, but as a former baker myself (now I just bake for fun/personal consumption), I can tell you how hard it is to decorate to the quality that they do. I've done some comparative pricing in the area and there aren't a lot of places that offer this quality for very much less. Definitely a winner in my book. read more

I recently purchased the "you're one tough cookie" get well cookies for my grandma. Shes going through some tough times right now when it comes to her health and I wanted a cute/sweet treat to send her way. She was soooo excited and happy to receive these cookies. Said she could smell them as soon as she opened the box. My custom gift note was hand written and the cookies were packaged so nicely. The cookies tasted over floured and the icing used tasted like the dye. I reached out and the owner said "No else complained" and "We don't use dye". Whatever they used was not pleasing and I paid over 300.00. The cookies were beautiful but the owners never said "oh I am sorry you had a dislike - what can we do?" I purchased the cookie cake for my sons "Un-Birthday" party. The online ordering form supplied all the necessary information and made the process simple. When I picked up the cake I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decorating as well as the sheer thickness of the cake; no kidding it must have been over an inch think. I ordered 12 cookies for bridesmaid proposal boxes, 6 save the dates (square calendars) and 6 diamond ring cookies. The cookies were very cute! Unfortunately, all 6 rings were broken. A couple of the save the date frosting flowers had broken off. They did send a few extra cookies, but I'm assuming they were damaged during the baking process. In terms of taste, they were very fresh, and good, but your typical soft sugar cookie with decorative sugar icing. Shipping was fast. I did not contact them regarding the broken cookies as I wanted to get my proposal boxes out ASAP, but I'm sure they would have fixed the issue since they emailed promptly after my order regarding a request for packaging like a duo. Over all, the service was prompt, but some cookies shapes may not do well when shipped. And given the price, didn't expect to have broken cookies. I'd purchase from them again because their cookies are adorable, but I'd be mindful to stick with shapes that are more sturdy/solid. read more
