Purchased a Groupon for an evaluation. Polite service person said house needed no tx. Never saw them again but being threatened with almost $700 of service bills. I tried to talk to representative stating it was simply a Groupon review. I was told it was a contract, but I have to call for any services. I am charged whether I request service or not, which I have not needed and did not need upon initial evaluation with Groupon. Looking forward to exposing their fraud as much as possible to prevent this from happening to others. Groupon should be ashamed to accept them as clients - will address that as well. The ratings on Groupon are incredibly high compared to the 1.8 here. Neither service is honest. It is not possible to reach an actual human being anymore at Groupon to address a concern. You are placed on a look of AI and/recordings that just go around in circles wasting your precious time. read more

Granted that I waited a little long to use it but other vendors do not make a fuss about it when one contacts them before the expiration. Indeed, the first person I talked to told me that they would honor it as it was before its expiration. Tara, on the other hand, could not find an appointment for me as she wanted to sell me an extended service. Tara is very dishonest. I cannot believe companies employ such dishonest employees. Very frustrated with this company. Cannot talk to a human. After being on hold for 5 min, the robot announces that "customer service is not available - use porta." I am unable to get to the portal, because it requires a customer number which I do not have. On top of that, my phone calls are not returned. I have called twice. Perhaps they are not open today, Jan 1, but it not there is not indication of that as I was again transferred to the voice mail which did not announce closure, yet made me yet again wait thought the message to be told to go to the portal, which I cannot access. If not open today, this is another example of substandard customer service, not to announce closure. Although I have been a good customer for a few years, I expect better customer service that this and am now looking for an alternative pest company for my pest control needs. read more

Last year after multiple appointments I had to buy some bug spray myself because whatever this company was using was not effective. I gave the company the benefit of the doubt and renewed my contract with them this year. Big mistake. After renewal I had one technician no show with no phone call saying they weren't coming Then the next technician was 30 minutes late and argued with me because he didn't want to treat the inside of the house. He literally refused to spray the entire house and did less than half of the inside. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Southern Pest Control in Virginia is misrepresenting themselves as a premium pest control service. Nothing is further from the truth. The service required multiple visits to treat a common infestation of so called drain flies. Also the service was not able to treat a wasp infestation since its service staff are supposedly prohibited from entering attic space and can treat infestations only at the ground level. Naturally none of these limitations are disclosed on the website or in the marketing "ploy". read more

There are so many extra costs if I need pests controlled - extra money for treating mosquitoes, extra money for treating stink bugs, extra money to remove waspnest, etc. I've tried to call a number I was directed to cancel my service ... and calls are blocked. I have called the customer service number and they tell me they can't do anything so they gave me an email and it bounced back! Finally, somehow my contract got extended without my approval. I would watch this company very closely. I've already hired another company where all costs are included and instead of spending 10 min at my home, the new Service says they need 30 to 45 min each service period. read more

This company is a total scam! Very pushy sales. They try to sell you on signing a 2-3 year contract. Promised at $150 first time service for a few ants they would come out and spray and we would have no problems. Or we just call and they would be right back out. We've been having problems since the day after. Called Jennifer one week later and asked for help. Soonest they could fit us in was three weeks away! Ants crawling all over. Worse then when they came out to spray. Gentlemen who sprayed on service call was great. BAD company! read more

Very disappointed. I was referred by family who have used this company's for Years and have never had a problem. I confirmed when the appointment was made they were eligible for the referral bonus and we even documented their account and address during the appointment scheduling. I had an annual termite Inspection in spring/summer of 2020. The technician arrived without a face mask and proceeded to cough on my back porch near an older family member. When asked to use a face mask since we would be closer than 6 feet and in the early stages of the pandemic he had to tear his truck Apart for 15 minutes to find a mask. This is after being assured that all technicians will be wearing PPE etc.Due to this being at the end of the day and taking 15 minutes to find the mask I'm assuming it wasn't worn at any other appointment either. He also did not want to check my crawl space or inspect the areas the previous infestation was 2 years prior from the previous home Owner. Three granules around the base aimlessly and skipping large sections as it started to drizzle rain. Their website states if it rains within a certain time frame it's inactivated and needs repeated. I asked the technician regarding this who in return stated it would be fine. For payment I used a gift card and the technician was rude, had To call it into the office over the phone for payment and he kept making snide comments on the phone to the extent that I had to ask if there was a problem? He stated no and he continued to be agitated. Once done a few months later my family did not receive Their referral bonus as promised. I called and spoke to someone who stated it was only for Certain services despite the email I had also received which states for any service. Felt like a bait and switch. I asked To discuss with a manager to discuss the experience and clear up any confusion since the email stated otherwise. I left 2 voicemails foe the manager and hey never returned my call. Months for by and still no return call or account referral creditF. ed up, I left a review on the company's Facebook to alert others. This negative review on social media is what alerted the company to get Involved. They sent the referral after several weeks. I will not be using this company again. I was going to give them another try by requesting a different technician however after the manager ignored my calls and they are promising referrals and not delivering on top of it taking almost a year to have the problem resolved, I will take my business elsewhere so I do not waste anymore time on a company that offers false promises and has such bad customer service. I do not want any other issues to arise when their management is unresponsive. read more

Unlike other pest control companies and other home services, they make you do all of the work to schedule appointments. I bought a Groupon. I called to have my house service and when I told him it was two floors they said with the Groupon is only for one floor so I said OK how much for two floors, it Was over $100 more (rip-off!) but since I had the Groupon I just went ahead and did it even though I don't agree with that price. And they did a crappy job I did not see any less spiders after they left. The guy was rude he didn't wanna listen to me or see where I wanted to show him where we had trouble with spiders he kept trying to walk away from me. He wasn't there that long and Later that night I noticed that all of my spiders were still alive. I called and they said well maybe they're not dead yet so after a couple days I noticed that my spiders are still alive and there's no reduction in spiders again. I asked if they would just send another person that increase really quickly. They said no and I said well I want you to because I've never had such bad service with the pest company and they said well will have to check with somebody and get back with you so about three weeks later I called and I said did you check with that person? She said oh yes I did and they said that you can use your hundred dollars towards a yearly contract but I told her that we are moving and I don't need a yearly contract or want one I just wanted to have but I paid for re-sprayed. Have had a successful termite inspection/treatment contract with SPC for years. Everyone I've spoken with has been polite and professional. Never been pressured to purchase anything or any service. Nick has been our bug guy for the last few years and we are very pleased with him and his expertise. He's super nice, knows everything about bugs and pests, and goes the extra mile to keep us informed and bug free. I've lived elsewhere where bugs of all sorts were an ongoing problem. We have no issues here other than ants. Like clockwork they appear every summer but I'm convinced this neighborhood is built on a massive ant network. It's the same for everyone. Having said, we just had an inspection this past week and what few ants that I had been seeing are gone. Worth every penny. read more

Great experience with this company. Heavy rain caused us to have to reschedule our initial appointment. They contacted us to reschedule. We didn't have to leave message after message or play phone tag to arrange it. So refreshing! Johnny was our technician. He was very friendly, professional and thorough, even crawled under the house to get rid of the ants. I wish I had taken pictures. There were so many of them running scared from the crawl space, the siding of the house, and the deck. It was just nasty. I felt sorry Johnny, but he just smiled and said "this is what I do." Such a great attitude! I definitely recommend Southern Pest Control. My only suggestion is to be specific about your infestation issues. Aside from our ant problem we had some wasps building a nest on our porch. The ants and wasps are separate charges. read more

I am currently using them and I have a full schedule so I tend to forget to schedule an appointment and they will not call or follow up with you unless its to renew the contract then they are calling non stop. Haven't seen a difference using them either their priority isn't customer service its bottom dollar, definitely shop around before using this company. read more

This company is by far one of the worst companies to deal with. The customer service is awful and the last two technicians who came out were rude. I first had Southern Pest Control come out on a Groupon deal and then I signed up for a year. I then made the mistake of paying for the year treatment upfront. The first technician that came out was very helpful but told me they would automatically come out and treat our house once a quarter but I could call anytime to have them come out within the year. When the last technician who I previous said was rude came out he claimed to have sprayed the whole exterior of my house and tried to leave even after I advised the customer service agent the main problem is inside the house. When I checked behind him outside the house I saw that he didn't spray around the whole house, at which time I pointed to the places he didn't and had him spray. The reason why I called the technicians back out several times was because their spray didn't do anything and was ineffective inside and outside my house. I then asked him to spray the inside. However, when I saw that his tank was leaking/spraying, I told him not to come inside because we have an animal inside and small kids, so I asked him to make me another appointment to spray on the inside. He advised me to call customer service to schedule an appointment. So I called and the earliest they could come back out was in a couple of days. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the customer service agent and advised her that I wanted to cancel the contract and I want my money back prorated at which time she advised me they couldn't do that and that she would have a supervisor call me back the next day. Of course the supervisor never called me back. The company is a RIP OFF and the employees lying to customers should be counseled or fired for ripping people off. If this is common practice for the company they shouldn't be in business, especially since their products don't work. I'm going to challenge them for my money back and I would encourage anyone who has been through this to join me. read more

So this company is a joke. I'm a long time customer and I've never had an issue in the past until my last visit when they sent the sales man Mike to my home instead of my usual person. Mike didn't do anything but try and up-sale me everything under the sun. I told him I had a lot of crickets in the crawl and spiders in the garage. I watched Mike go to his truck grab some sticky traps place them in the garage than grab his flip phone ( yes flip phone) To try and use that as a light To see in my dark crawl space. He was under there for less than 2 minutes than proceeded to put dust every where. 10 minutes worth of work 20 minutes of him trying to sell me new services. When asked was he gonna do the inside his exact words were "they did not give me enough time please call back in a few weeks for a follow up". This was just crazy to me! I leave a Google review and instead of saying I'm sorry they act like they can't find me in the system but when I call to complain or have an issue they know exactly who I am. This was bad business all the way around and I am in charge of the HOA and I will be letting every one know not to use or trust this service we will be trying to take the community business else where. read more

I have used them in the past and while their technicians are always nice the performance of the treatments has been less than stellar but usually after a couple of trips out they can get rid of ants for a few weeks. This year I was contacted and told that it was time to renew my contract. They told me about a special they had and I told the person on the phone that sounded good and i would be interested in calling back to schedule it. I was told OK. When I called back a week later I was then told that special was no longer in effect. I explained that I specifically said I was interested and not told of any date I had to make a decision by. This was very misleading and it really shows the character of a company when they will not make any attempt to satisfy a returning customer. Poor customer service. Poor relationship building. Do not go with this company. They are known as Southern Pest Control or Sovereign Pest Control in VA. They a misleading and deceiving in their sales tactics. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR LOW MONTHLY PAYMENT. The representative will tell you that you can cancel anytime but when you are not happy with your service they will not let you cancel the contract without paying the entire remaining balance of your contract (2yr contract). They are not capable in handling and pest including wasps! The reps over the phone will tell you one thing and when the technician will tell you that the reps are wrong. read more

Rip off. Signed a contract but no regular service plan and you have to call them to have any work done. Isn't part of the reason for the contract is that they provide preventive services? Not if you're SPC - get the money and hope the customer doesn't call and book it as all profit. The times I did have them come out and they sprayed for ants, the ants never went away.
