We are in our 70s, and received a $50,000+ estimate for "mouse mitigation" that included upgrades to our gutter guards, replacement of all insulation and a covering of the stones in our crawl space on which our grandchildren would enjoy jumping on according to the inspector. A Cadillac estimate or a scam? What we did instead: We set trap which caught a few more mice. We also put a couple bait stations in our basement. An inspection by a different locally owned company concluded we had the mouse problem under control. Cost was less than $100. The Orkin inspector did find a leak in our crawl space we addressed. However, he missed the carpenter ants that had chewed subfloor near the leak. The 100+ pictures of mice evidence disturbed our sleep for a couple nights. read more

Terrible communication. Technician did not show up within the window he was scheduled. I wasted over 2 hours of my time waiting. I gave up and left. He showed up later when I wasn't home. I was charged anyway- even though the inside treatment wasn't done. Management doesn't seem to care. We have told them for years that we need the first appointment of the day because of our work schedules. They always schedule at a time we can't be home and send notification after business hours the day before -- so we can't reach them to make a change. Then they treat the outside of the house and schedule another visit for the inside. Only when I told them we were cancelling service did they say we could arrange a set time for appointments in the future. After years of our asking for this. I have switched to a local company that charges less and provides better service. read more

Taylor is the worse and rudest CS Rep I have ever encountered. I did CS for over 20 years and I know for sure if she worked with me she would have been FIRED!! She is nasty talks over you lie and tell you what you are going to have done to your account rega of what you want or say. She never lets you speak with Chase Brown. Hes either always in a meeting ALL DAY or OUT OF THE OFFICE. Also I don't like the fact that there techs can tell them and charge you for service that you did t receive. I bought a restaurant in March of 2018 that was using Orkin's services. I continued on with their services until July of 2020. During my time with Orkin we experienced a few hiccups but nothing so grievous to complain. I was approached by another local pest control company and after a thorough walk through, their quote came in at half what I was currently paying for the same services from Orkin. During these times, that kind of savings makes a difference. When I notified Orkin of my decision to change, they insisted that they have a 2 month cancellation policy. Odd that in my 2+ years of doing business with this company 1) no such policy was mentioned and 2) I was never offered nor did I ever sign a contract of service with Orkin. I've opted to pay for the 2 month cancellation policy because I pride myself on being an upstanding business person. My advice to current and anyone thinking of using Orkin in the Richmond area - watch your statements for any underlying hidden 'agreements'. Their practices are not completely above board. Very disappointed. Was misquoted on the phone and then involved in an awkward dispute between the rep and the Corp. office. My condition has gotten worse since they arrived but in the process they managed to damage my kitchen floors, break my water line on my fridge, put white caulk in a crack on my hardwood floors, and leave snap traps in reach of my children even though I made it very clear they should not be in sight. Tried to use these no-counts to get rid of a moth problem. First, after talking to their central office, I was told they would have the local Orkin dealer call me back that day. After two days and repeated calls, i finally got a call back from a lady named Judy. She set up a window of 3-5 PM the next day (friday) to come and do an inspection I waited from 3-5 with no-call, no-show. I called Judy and she stated that all of their laptops were down, and asked me to give them another 30 minutes. I gave them an hour, no-call, no-show. I called Judy back and she set up another time for Monday from 8-10 and guaranteed they would be there. I waited from 8 - 10:30 Monday, again with no-call and no-show. I called Judy and she swore she had followed up that morning with the tech, yet no-call, no-show. She had someone else call me who asked that I give them another window of 10-12. I told them I had already wasted more than 4 hours of my life waiting on their no-count asses, and I wasn't going to spend 2 more for them to not show up. She asked me to give them a chance, and I said if she could give me just one reason I should believe they would show up, I would give them a chance. She couldnt give me even one reason. So...... If you are looking for a pest control company that is reliable, I would suggest you dont consider Orkin. read more

Really disappointed in the service we have received from Orkin. I have had a contract with Orkin for three years, and over that time we have experienced more pest issues than what we originally contacted them for. When we first called, we had an issue with roaches that a tenant brought into our property. It wasn't a bad infestation, and we saw immediate results after one visit from the Orkin Man. I had a great relationship with that technician for some time, until he retired. After that, it seemed that the technician wasn't a communicative, but I assumed my contract was still being taken care of. I was wrong. We were told by someone working on our furnace that there was evidence of rodents in our crawl space, so I called Orkin to make sure that they would treat for them. Orkin's solution was to treat for the rodents one time and then either no show, tell me they couldn't get into my yard, or treat the yard but not for the rodents. Since you can't cancel your contract within 30 days of your next service date, I would call to cancel and be told I couldn't but that they would guarantee that they would treat for rodents on my next service date. They did send out another technician to treat for the rodents in January after our guy didn't, but then the next two times didn't treat or check for rodents at all. When I called to cancel my service after again not being treated for rodents, the manager called me and personally went to my home to check and treat for rodents. While I appreciate the effort, it was too little too late. After paying for the service and acquiring an additional pest while under a service contract for pests, I would say it was a complete waste of money. Now I have to pay another company to come rid me of the rodents. read more

I've only been a customer for a couple of months and I regret signing a contract with Orkin. It's been an unfair customer experience every since. The technicians show up 30 minutes to 1 hour late when they already have a 2-hr arrival window, and worst, this local branch (Wylder Rose) does not answer the phone or call back to address concerns. I've been trying to resolve an outstanding balance for more than 2 weeks. The customer service reps from VA Beach could not assist me but stated I would recieve a call from the local office. No one called so days later I called again. I finally spoke with a woman in the local office but she couldn't explain why there's a past due balance in my account. I do not owe anything because I'm an autopay customer with proof they have taken money from my account monthly. She said she would call me back and it's been over a week. I called customer service again and spoke with someone in GA. She also could not assist me, nor was she able to reach this local office! Two reps mentioned that it appears I was misquoted during initial sign up and should be paying more per month. Completely unfair business practices. I should not have to pay more because your Orkin sales person misquoted the cost. I should not have to constantly call with concerns and receive no response. If I could, I'd immediately terminate my agreement with Orkin. read more

Greg Finn was condescending and disrespectful from the start. I removed all of the infested clothing from the house and put it downstairs. He made some snide comment about my cleanliness and entitlement to have so many clothes. I asked him to look in a very specific location for pest and he failed to do so. The result of this was treatment of one pest, but not another we needed treatment for. When they did their follow up I pointed it out once again. They admitted they had no clue what the pest was and sent it to a lab. They then called me back to tell me what the bug was, but didn't treat for it. Thanks! I hope these points are specific enough for HR to believe me and follow up with Greg for other people's sake. But the real point is they didn't fix the other pest issue they treated either. I would have kept my review off of here. But my final conversation with him was so unproductive and once again condescending. I can't help but report to try to save others from this nightmare. I have had Orkin for years, but as of late I have not been all too pleased with my service. My appointments and automatically scheduled Without consideration if that would work. This last time was not a good time for us. I called their number to reschedule two times, leaving a voicemail both times, and I never got a call back. My appointment was not rescheduled. That days comes and the technician calls to say he will be late. I explained to him that I tried to reschedule and asked if he could so that for me. He did and the day of the rescheduled appointment, no one showed up. No message that they weren't coming or anything. An hour and a half after our window I get another automated rescheduled appointment message for yet another day and time that will not work for me. It's after hours so unknown I cannot call to fix it. read more

The service guys were polite and appeared to do a good job. However, a week after we had a bi monthly application I found a spider infestation on the front porch. After 3 calls, I finally received a returned call after 23 hours with a promise of a call from a service technician that evening. A day later and still no call. I am extremely disappointed by the service I received from the Ashland office for Orkin. When we bought our house over two years, we took over the Orkin contract so we have had continuous service for termite and pest control. When the termite inspector noticed a rodent problem in the crawl space, which was overlooked by the pest control inspector, I asked to speak to the Branch Manager. His first words to me were "Your contract says we are not responsible for any damage". He displayed an unwillingness to problem-solve the situation and only wanted to tell me what they would not do. When he read the past several reports to me over the phone, he acknowledged that the pest inspector had not checked the crawl space in months-though it is easily accessible with out having to go into the back yard or inside the house and is a part of our routine service check. We are paying a monthly service fee and, as indicated by their own records, they have not properly conducted their routine care or notifications. If they had, we would not be in such a progressed situation. We do not dispute the work needs to be done, but the situation should never have gotten to this level in the first place. The customer service experience we had with the Service Manager and the Branch Manager was severely lacking-no return calls, unpleasant tone, excuses and an obtuse response. We called Terminix and received quite the opposite response. If customer service, integrity (actually doing what your website says and standing behind your work), and a solution driven approach are important to you then I suggest using another service other than the Ashland Orkin office. read more

For 35 years we were happy with Western Pest service. We could call or visit the local office and arrange service dates and times. Occasionally I would take bugs to the office so they could bring the appropriate sprays. Suddenly without notice or our approval our Western service was turned over to Orkin. The service went very bad very fast. We were given only a day or two notice when they were coming and Orkin never would say whether they were coming before or after noon. Changing the day of service was very difficult. The service notice came by email, but no one would reply to our email asking for a change. Calling Orkin's local phone number meant speaking with someone in a call center in a distant city. That never went well. The technicians who came were pleasant. The latest email service notice came on a holiday weekend and no one answered the local or national phone numbers or emails. I realized that I had not received a bill in a year, so I decided to cancel the service. I could not get in touch with Orkin for three days. I finally obtained the personal cell phone number of one of the Orkin technicians from a friend of a friend of a neighbor. I told the technician not to come to my house, that I was no longer an Orkin customer and that I would not renew the Orkin service. We will see if that works. read more

Disappointed in all facets of the service received from this office. The phone is never answered, and calling the network once resulted in their operator calling the office and still no answer. I published a negative review about the lack of access and response, and eventually talked with a manager (Carl) after he read the review. He set up an appointment to arrive with the technician (Charles) to discuss the treatment, or lack thereof, of carpenter bees and the fact that the technician had verbally told me that a "team" would come out and service the bees, which never happened. Charles showed up for the appointment, but waited a long while before coming to the door----then came with a mop/brush and small container to squirt the bees that he could reach. Carl never showed up, nor did he call afterwards ---I left messages for him. Charles treated the bees that were easily accessible and could have been handled by me easily. The main problem still exists. I have cancelled my service agreement effective July 1, 2019. read more

I would give Orkin no stars if I could! I am extremely disappointed with Orkin at Wylderose Court! We had had a service contract with Western Pest for 13 years when Western Pest was bought by Orkin. I paid for a full year of service in June, 2016 - $497.00. Apparently the only way you get notified of an upcoming appointment is via phone, from a number that caller-id does not identify as Orkin. Of course you need to check your messages in order to know when they are coming. And when you call to set up an appointment - you can't. They come when they are free not when it is convenient for you. And they come whether or not you have approved the appointment. If you are not home the do the outside and want to come back to service the inside. I went through this process once and knew immediately that I would never be happy with Orkin after having Western Pest. I called to cancel my service in August, after one visit. I made it as clear as possible to the customer service rep that I did not want Orkin coming to my house - ever. Guess what? In November, I arrived home to find a note stuck to the door that they had performed outside service. Again, I called and said that I had cancelled service in August and around we went, again. And I said again that I did not want Orkin coming to my house! In March or 2017, I got the call from the technician that he was coming to perform my service. I said no! I cancelled my service in June - do not come. He did not want to take no for an answer! Anyway, I talked to a representative after the March call and, again, it did not go well. He was armed with details of my account, including when I had called to cancel and the services that were performed. I mentioned that my money had not been returned to me. He said I would be getting $169 back. I said no, I should not pay for service after I cancelled that that should be covered by Orkin. We went around about voice mail appointment notifications and communication problems on their end, etc. He said he would talk to his manager and get back to me. The next thing the I received was an email from the Orkin Customer Retention office asking be to complete a 2 question survey. "Would I recommend Orkin to a friend?" Nope, not ever! Scale of 0 - 10 I picked 0 and explained my situation. I was not offered a second question. I listened to a voice mail from Orkin today notifying me that a check had been mailed and to please let them know that I had gotten the check. It was for....$169! I am no happy and I will call and let them know that I got the check and how I can never recommend them to anyone! I am an unhappy customer! read more
