I've used this company for a few years and have had a share of good and bad. The technician is very friendly and courteous. A real professional. Definitely want to make sure to give him credit.
Prior to using Southern Pest Control, we used Greenstar Pest control. We were having a roach problem and the eco-friendly chemicals used by Greenstar didnt seem to be able to get the job done. We called Southern Pest control and after they treated our home, the roaches were gone. Again, I want to make sure to give good credit where it's due.
Now for the bad. When I see ants all over my kitchen, I expect to call and get a technician to my house within a day or 2. I called the customer service number and when they asked which day was best, I told them Fridays. They looked at this Friday but it was booked. They looked at next Friday but I said "that's too much time, please look for something sooner". The representative on the phone said she needed to see if the tech could work me in and she would call me back. I NEVER RECEIVED THE CALL BACK. Instead, by shear luck, I looked at my email (which I only do occasionally) and saw they sent me an email telling me when my appointment was. She booked me for service on 2 Novemeber. I called on 16 October to report being overrun by ants but the soonest they could get someone to my house was 2 November. 2 NOVEMBER???? Thats 17 days, more than 2 weeks of having to accept having ants going through my kitchen. Perhaps thats why she didnt call me as she said she would.
I immediately called them back and explained that 17 days is unacceptable and that I needed something sooner. Just to make sure she understood, I explained that Fridays are my preference, but I'll do whatever is needed to get something sooner. It was a different customer service representative, but she said she would see what she could do and call me back. To her credit, she called me back. Soonest she could get was the 25th. So 9 days after needing service, I could expect a technician. Maybe that's the industry standard, I dont know, but it isnt up to MY expectations.
Having had pest control service contracts for decades, I've found that the ones that include routine service calls work best. Getting a quarterly or semi annual call from the Pest Control provider helps me remember to have the home treated and does a great job making sure the bugs stay away. But the Southern Pest control contract requires YOU to remember and call for service, or call when you see bugs. But thats after they are in the house. I believe they benefit from the likelihood of people forgetting about calling for service.
My service contract expires at the end of this month. I think it's time to let one of the many other pest control companies in the area have a try at keeping my business. I'm hoping there's a pest control company that combines professional technicians and effective treatment like Southern Pest Control with reliable customer service and more expedient service appointments. read more
