The original issue I experienced was no radio/CD/Bluetooth or display showing on my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. After doing some research on this it showed to be a common problem on this year model. I tried to have an after market radio installed but with it being around $1500 I said NOPE. Called the dealer ship for a replacement and it was around $1000. I tried three different places for repair quotes on the radio head unit. One answered back a week later stating it would be better to purchase a new unit. the other never replied back. Southern Electronics replied back the same day about an hour later. I had already removed the head unit and gave them all the model and serial numbers. They quoted me around $250-$300 for repairs including a one year warranty with paid shipping to and from them included. After shipping the radio out for repairs about three days later I received a call from the tech performing the repairs giving me a thorough update explaining what the issue was and what the correction will be. About three days later I received the radio back from the repairs and was astonished by how well packaged the radio was returned to me. They used soft foam packaging to prevent any shipping damaging from occurring in transit. I received the final bill and it was $265 dollars, well within the estimate given. I have had the radio installed for about three months now without any issues thus far, knock on wood. I would recommend Southern Electronics to others. I communicated via email with Southern Electronics regarding the problems with the radio in my old (1984) Isuzu pickup. They gave me a price, which I thought was reasonable, to repair the radio and I sent theunit to them. (Other companies I had contacted refused to look at the radio after I described my problems). I mailed the radio on a Monday and the following Friday received the repaired unit, and installed it in my truck. The repaired radio was warranted for 1 year and about 10 months later I developed additional problems. I returned the radio to Southern and again they repaired it very quickly at NO CHARGE and returned it to me. Once again, the radio worked for about 9 months but problems started again. So once again I returned the radio to them for repair. After receiving the radio, they called and indicated they could not find a problem with the unit but agreed to recheck it after a period in a hot oven at their facility. They returned the radio to me again at NO CHARGE but without a warranty this time. Once again, I installed the unit in my truck and it continues to work perfectly. The quick service and warranty repairs are a definite plus and much appreciated. In my experience, Southern Electronics is not afraid of the hard jobs and will definately honor their warranty. I have several old cars and trucks with old electronics and I'm sure I will be sending them more stuff. Extremely pleased. read more

Guys and Gals, These people from Southern Electronics did an EXCELLENT job all the way around! I sent them the cluster from my '01 Dodge Ram expecting to go through as much hassle with them as I did the dealership; however, that was entirely not the case. The charged price for the cluster repair was the same as the quoted price, and throughout the entire process, the Southern Electronics employees kept me informed, were polite, respectful, friendly, and everything else you could possibly ask for when going through a long repair process of your vehicle. Sometimes, I think it can be difficult to remain positive and upbeat about your vehicle situation when so much of the repair process is dictated by others and their efforts, but the guys here overshadowed the negligent actions of others, specifically the employees at the dealership, ultimately making the repair process not so bad. With the ability to print a free UPS shipping label to send your Instrument to them, how could you go anywhere else? Actually, good repair options are few and far between when it comes to a Speedometer assembly in my '73 Cadillac Deville. The odometer stopped working and I chose to send it to Southern Electronics for repair. I was able to speak to the owner, Eric about my issue, and in two weeks time he had it repaired and returned beck to me! I chose to have just just the problem repaired as opposed to a full restoration, as the car is mostly a #2 condition. I was only charged $95.00, and it was returned promptly with free shipping! I installed it back in the Cadillac and it is working fine as intended. After a few test drives, another issue developed that seemed to be related and possibly to the speedometer cable. I contacted Eric right away and he advised it is likely the cable, and suggested Ii drive it a bit more to see if it continues. If so, he advised to change the cable and not to worry as I have a year warranty on their work to the speedometer. I owned a Volvo 850 and just loved that car to death! My odometer stop working and every shop in the DC/MD/VA area wanted 600 to 725.00 to repair the cluster. I located Southern Electronics on the website and called for an estimate. I drove all the way to their location...waited while they removed the cluster; showed me I had several bulbs blown and should replace them as well. The tech allowed me to watch him repair the odometer, replaced all the bulbs at no charge and I got away for 395.00. Far lower that what was quoted to me over the phone and cheaper than 12 shops that I contacted. When I sold the car after owning it for 15 years, the cluster still worked with all of the bulbs illuminated! Eric even came out to the waiting area and kindly chatted with me for a while as customers were coming from everywhere trying to get their audio, cluster boards and any other service his shop provided. I said to myself this place MUST be top-notch because I witnessed 3 different dealship vehicles bring in instruments for repair. Just an outstanding shop and great customer service! 9/12/17 I have had problems with my instrument cluster for a LONG time. I took it to a mechanic who said they could send it in for about 6-800 dollars. Absolutely not! I actually drove for years by simply "getting a feel" for the speed I was traveling at and writing down by my mileage when I ought to fill up with fuel. Then two summers ago I got the courage to send the cluster to a place in Georgia. I rushed it there and paid to rush it back. What a crock - all they did was replace lights in the cluster. i complained but Boggs said their website said my year of vehicle was not covered. I even told them all the lights worked previously so why they did a service that was not needed is beyond me. They knew what I said was wrong with the cluster and still did not fix it. The dash cluster in our Toyota Matrix went out, no instruments at all. The dealer said the problem was in the cluster and they had no replacements or any ideas of how to get it fixed. I was going to try a used part, but no guarantee and also the mileage would be different creating a problem with the state title if we sold the car. I checked with several places I found on line, but Southern Electronics was the only one that would work on the gauge cluster from our specific car. I accepted their quote for repair ($275) and sent the cluster. It was back within 5days, but when I installed it, it did not work. No lights, no gauges just as I sent it. This was so much easier than I expected. The speedometer and other readings on my 2004 Tahoe instrument panel hasn't worked in 2-3 years. I went to a mechanic and they quoted me between $650-800. I found Southern Electronics on the web and decided to give them a try. The YouTube video to remove and install the panel was simple to follow. My Tahoe worked fine without the panel - I just used a gps to keep track of my speed and made sure I filled up my tank before I sent it off. They sent me the shipping docs, I dropped it off at UPS (no charge) and waited. When I received the panel (a day earlier than expected), it was all shined up. I have a 1984 Mercedes 280SL which is a European model that was refitted for use in the U.S. My odometer quit working and I thought I would have to take it to a Mercedes dealership to have it repaired and you can imagine how much Mercedes dealerships charge. Well, I found Southern Electronics on line and asked them to give me a quote for its repair. About 6 months later I decided it was time to go ahead with the repair and asked if the quote was still good. They assured me it was. I had a radio from my 2003 Cadillac repaired at Southern Electronics. This radio is touch screen with onstar & all the bells and whistles. They repaired it and I had it back within 8 days (which I thought was pretty fast!). When I got it back it sounded great!! but had an intermittent power problem. I took a short video & sent to them. They said send it back. They repaired the intermittent problem and I had it back within a week (even faster than the first time!) Most of all they honored their warranty policy! NO ADDED CHARGE TO ME!. They even sent me a return shipping label! This is the second radio I've sent them. The first has off my Goldwing, They done a great job on it as well. I looked at a couple of different companies that offered an instrument cluster repair service. Two things swayed me towards Southern Electronics. The most important was that they had an online video that provided detailed information as to how to remove the cluster from my vehicle. Second, and far less important, was that they were located a few hundred miles closer to me. I sent the cluster off on a Friday, and it was back in my hands the following Wednesday. Installation was pretty simple, and everything seems to be working perfectly - even the burned-out bulbs were replaced as promised. I'm not sure what more anyone could ask - they did what they said they were going to do and they did it expeditiously. So this rates 5 stars in my book. read more

At first, I was very skeptical to mail my $2000 Mark Levinson CD player to any repair shop by mail. But the Southern Electronics staff has been very diligent in diagnosing and repairing my system that I'll never send my stereo system repair needs to any other place but Southern Electronics. The intermittent problem with my system was very difficult to diagnose and repair. Southern Electronics stood behind Their 1 year warranty when a different malfunction with my system appeared. I had good results in the repair of a speedometer for a Honda Civic (1992-1995 vintage) that was working erratically when it worked at all. My experience tells me that the company is reputable and reliable, and with an efficient way of doing business. They sent a box with packing material for my instrument cluster, with pre-paid shipping, that took some of the hassle out of mailing it off. The turn around time was excellent, getting the cluster back in 2 days. It was fantastic to have the speedometer working as it should so I could get the car through inspection. Received a recommendation from my neighbor and was very happy I did. I requested a quote and I think I got a response on the same day. I did not send my instrument cluster right away because I was unsure if the cluster was the root cause. after checking all other possibilities, I printed a shipping label online and mailed the unit via UPS (free to me). I have 95 Chevy K1500 Silverado that my Tach, Speedo, Gear Position Indicator and Odometers would not work off and on. When this happened, the trans would start off in tall gear making it very hard to get the truck moving. Mat and his techs were able to troubleshoot to 2 different issues. My issues may be different than other trucks with the same symptoms but the Instrument Cluster needed repair and Ignition module needed replacement. Had a non working fuel gauge on my 2003 Pathfinder which caused my service engine light to come on and stay on. Because of this i could not pass inspection. Dealer said the only way was to replace the whole instrument panel whi h is very expensive. I told him that I was going to look around and his response was good luck because most places are unsuccessful with repairs. I'm an engineer and I sent a detailed request for quote to repair my 86 GM instrument cluster for a broken odometer. Received the quote and sent the cluster packed in layers of bubblepack. Got it back un-repaired with a note stating parts (gears and motor) were not available. WHY DIDN'T HE KNOW THAT? At least there was no charge. Even worse, this 31 year old instrument cluster had never been out of the car (Original owner) and was in perfect condition. He didn't take care re packing it. The bezel was broken in three places and the housing was cracked. I sent photos and he said he would try to find a used bezel at his cost and sent it to me. NEVER HAPPENED! Buyer Beware. read more

Look around on the Internet for someone who could repair my dead instrument cluster. Southern Electronic was about the only site that was not limited to certain makes and models. They delivered the cluster on time and at the price quoted. I was really surprised that they replaced the plastic housing that had broken off tabs and the rest of the cluster looked almost new. My experience was fantastic. I received my quote within a couple hours of the request. All the information and documentation provided on the webpage were spot on and accurate. I packaged my instrument cluster and shipped it on Tuesday afternoon and it was back at my house by Friday when I returned from work.
