I brought my 2015 Audi A7 to this shop for a coolant leak/overheating issue and ultimately spent around $3,000 on repairs including water pump-related work, belt/tensioner, hoses, diagnosis, etc. Initially, the staff seemed knowledgeable, and I appreciated that they identified an active coolant leak. However, after getting the vehicle back, the car continued losing coolant rapidly -- even while sitting parked overnight. I also experienced smoke from the exhaust at startup and additional oil leakage concerns after the repair. What became frustrating for me was the diagnostic process afterward. Once I returned with continued coolant loss concerns, the conversation shifted almost immediately toward "internal engine damage" and engine replacement, despite no combustion leak test, leak-down test, or follow-up compression testing being performed to confirm catastrophic engine failure. I understand overheating can potentially damage an engine, and I'm not disputing that possibility. My issue is that I did not feel there was enough confirmed diagnostic evidence presented before recommending something as major and expensive as an engine replacement. I also physically observed dried coolant residue and evidence of external coolant spray/leakage around the engine bay, and the vehicle was still losing coolant while parked and not running, which I felt deserved further external leak investigation before jumping to the conclusion of full engine replacement. To be fair, the staff did communicate concerns about possible overheating damage from the beginning. However, I left feeling more pushed toward a worst-case scenario than guided through a complete and confirmed diagnosis process. At minimum, I would strongly recommend that future customers request: combustion/block testing compression/leak-down testing and clear confirmation of leak sources before agreeing to major engine replacement recommendations. read more

My experience was consistent with the other reviews. This was our first time using them. My wife's 2015 X5 was towed there for a coolant leak. My wife was pleased with the initial conversation. They said, since it was the first time using them, they would thoroughly diagnose the car to see if anything else was wrong (for $210), then send over a detailed report, and finally, walk through line by line with pricing. Everything after this point was bad to terrible. They sent over the report (you don't get pricing on the report), which included the very obvious coolant leak but was marked "suggested" even though this made the car undriveable. The other suggested "repair" was replacing the air filter even though "it looks clean". Then, they called out a torn bushing in the thrust arm as "required" along with eight other "required" services. These are all of the silly things they suggested: Battery Diagnosis - $105 Air filter - $140 Cabin air filter - $145 Brake flush - $202 Transmission flush - $1,755 Front differential flush - $268 Rear differential flush - $326 Transfer case flush - $682 Wheel alignment - $250 ** These listed prices are from the final receipt; you are never told these until after you pay I had a conversation with the owner, who said they would take care of everything in the report for $8,300. I laughed and said I want just the coolant leak and thrust arms. He said $4,400, which I laughed at again, and then he said he could get it close to $4,000. We hadn't called other places to get pricing, so while that sounded silly high, we just needed our car back and didn't have time to mess with towing other places for quotes. This was Monday, and they said it would be done by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. On Wednesday, after no call, my wife called Skip, and he said they were behind and it would take another day. Around 3 pm on Thursday, my wife called Skip again, and he said they were finishing up and he would send us a receipt to pay online and do an after-hours pickup (never received anything). She called again at noon on Friday, and he said his tech replaced the coolant part that was leaking, but it was defective, so they have to order another part. Now, it wouldn't be ready until late that afternoon or Monday at the latest. At this point, they said they would offer a loaner, which we declined since it would be ready "soon". We also said they need to call us when the deadline changes instead of us calling every day. On Monday, they called and said when they replaced the "defective" part they realized it was a different part that was leaking and needed to order another part. Now, it would be ready Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday at the latest. They called Tuesday and said all of the parts arrived late, so it will be Wednesday. We picked up the car on Wednesday (10 days later), and they said they would comp some parts and work. The original quote was $4,125, and the final bill was $3,945. The labor for the thrust arms was $840, and the labor to replace a coolant flange and oil filter housing (3 times) was $1,890. So, they aren't fast, cheap, or good. One more thing that's super annoying is that the car is due for service in 300 miles. What I wanted done was the coolant leak and the service coming up (oil change, def refill, and brakes). The car literally flashes service coming soon when you turn it on, yet they handed me a generic list of $3600 worth of nonsense, so I didn't even bother asking for the service to be done. There aren't many options in the area for BMW-specific shops, but I would still avoid this one. read more

I drive a 2014 BMW 640i XDrive. It's been a fairly reliable vehicle. I took my car to Bimmer Rescue Service Center because the driver's side door would not open from either the inside or outside. They said the issue was a faulty door handle and replaced it. However, just two days after picking it up, the same problem occurred, and I had to climb out through the passenger seat again. When I returned to the service center, they claimed the issue was now a sensor in the back passenger door related to a proximity setting, which cost. So the issue was misdiagnosed the first time and I was charged a second time with Bimmer Rescue taking no accountability. Additionally, they mentioned an issue with my sunroof, which they said needed recycling, and that my a switch in my sunroof may be causing the issues. Mind you the second time around Bimmer Rescue had my vehicle for nearly three weeks and would not call me with updates, I had to call constantly with each call being given the run round. Also when I received my car back the second time I noticed when I made it home part of my interior ceiling had been removed and left in my back seat and my gas cap had been broken by Bimmer Rescue. I finally got my car back and, the first day having the car home. while driving, my car alarm intermittently starts coming on and off. I call Bimmer Rescue they make a joke about me possibly being pulled over thanking that its's a stolen car. That's no joke to me, as an African American male being pulled over could be a life or death proposition. I return the car for a third time, and the service team then said it was a problem with a ultrasonic sensor and a switch in the sunroof the sunroof and replaced both, of course at a cost, and an additional two weeks in the shop with subpar communication and updates. I pickup my vehicle and 1 day later I receive an alert that my car is overheating, yet my gauges look fine and I have coolant. My car shuts of as I'm driving barely making it through an intersection with no power. I shut the car off completely and restart in no issue. I make it home, turn the car off, turn it back on and now the alert say I have low tire pressure for all of my tires. I checked my tire and the alert is false. While leaning over to check my tire I notice a wire running across my backseat that Bimmer Rescue failed to secure. Despite these numerous repairs and significant expenses, the issues with my car seem to multiply when taking it to Bimmer Rescue. Each time my vehicle is returned, there's a new problem that I didn't have before, more than likely attributed to Bimmer Rescue. They constantly point to other causes, failing to take accountability for their repeated misdiagnoses and ineffective repairs. I feel like I'm being fleeced, continually paying for misdiagnosed issues without any real solutions. I am extremely frustrated and inconvenienced by having to take my vehicle back and forth to the shop, and by not having my vehicle available. And today I'm taking my car back to Bimmer Rescue for them to secure the exposed wire and fix what it appears that they've broken when trying to resolve my original door issue. This journey started in March and I don't think have had my car a solid week since. I would not recommend Bimmer Rescue Service Center due to my poor experience and ongoing car problems. The operations manager flat-out ignored requests for assistance and refused to honor their warranty for the defective parts they installed. I had full intentions on letting this go. Until they text spammed me at the end of March. To condense a very bad experience, it went like this: clicking noise in the rear right of my bmw. I have a decent mechanical acumen but I was house hunting and needed it looked at. I rode with the tech, who was awesome. We both came to the conclusion it was very likely the cv joint. New axle, good to go. no. Got a call later after an "evaluation." Driveshaft, seals, fluids. $3400. Lol. Now I knew they were lying to me. I Took my car to a mom and pop shop with a good reputation and they swapped out the axle. $220. Issue fixed, 6 months later zero issues. Now...if you had a great experience with Bimmer Rescue in the past and swear by them, keep at it. I would just urge caution not just with this establishment, but with any. Get a 2nd opinion. Fortunately I worked on cars, which they didnt know. So I called BS. But what about that person who doesnt know a CV joint from a PCV valve? They would get hosed. Take this as you will. I do not wish negativity upon them but buyer beware with ANY mechanic. Expect them all to offer you "wooden nickels" until PROVEN otherwise. read more

Took 4 days for what took me about an hour on my own. Transmission fluid replacement. I'm assuming some of that time was spent waiting for parts to arrive but I was quoted 4 hours. The transmission kit runs around $400-$500 plus around $70 for fluid and then I also had to buy a code reader for around $100. Labor charges for them run around $290? $275? an hour. Been a few months since I had work done by then as I wanted to think more about my review before I wrote it / compare with doing it myself. Final cost was close to $2000 IIRC for them to do it. You do the math. As others have mentioned it's basically the same cost as the stealership. So just go there instead unless you can do it yourself. The whole idea is save over what the dealership would charge. If there is no difference then what's the point? Dealership does the same health checks... Sometimes I don't want to take the time to do it myself so I'm willing to pay someone else but the margins here don't add up. Either there is a lot of overhead or someone is greedy. Seems like a tough business but don't wine and dine me with how much you love to take care of cars and customers and then charge me an arm and leg. Honesty is probably the most important currency for repeat business for any mechanic. read more

My 2014 BMW 328i engine light came on about six weeks ago and I called Bimmer Rescue to run diagnostics on my vehicle. Two and half days and $1700 later Bimmer Rescue replaced the oxygen sensors. Later that week I was moving from Richmond, VA to Spring Lake, NC and the engine light came on again. I brought my vehicle to the Fayetteville, NC BMW dealership and they said the oxygen sensors were replaced - however they were installed backwards. The service rep stated he had never seen that before because they are color coded. The labor charges at the BMW dealership were the same as Bimmer Rescue but the service was performed correctly in much less time. Bimmer Rescue technicians need training and management needs to perform quality control. Just take your BMW to a dealership to avoid the hassle. read more

AVOID!!! THE DEALERSHIP WAS CHEAPER! These guys are dishonest. They seem very upfront and friendly at first. I went in to check on a water leak inside my BMW (the a/c vents were clogged-simple repair). As the previous reviewer mentioned, they came back with a long list of things wrong with my car (with no prices attached) including the oil cooler gasket that was leaking oil "heavily'. I had to call to get the charges itemized. They offered to replace all of the carpet inside for $3500 (one foot well had water)!!! They offered to replace the tires for $1175 and when I asked what kind they said Perelli (I assume they assumed because I'm a woman I wouldn't know the difference-wrong) or it wouldn't pass inspection (I already had it inspected a month ago). They said my engine drive belt had cracks and needed to be replaced ($375) and the brake fluid needed to be flushed. The list goes on and on. My spidey sense felt that something was amiss so I picked up my car the next day and took it to the dealership for a second opinion (they had left the standing water inside the floor well overnight AND had performed a $130 oil change which had never been mentioned-why do that if it is leaking heavily?). Dealership said I had a small oil leak-NOT a heavy leak ($743 at dealership vs $760 Bimmer) and the brake fluid should be flushed ($158 dealership vs $225 Bimmer). NOTHING ELSE WAS WRONG! I will need tires eventually but they said it's not the emergency Bimmer made it sound. They use scare tactics to try to upsell you. I'm disgusted I paid them $400, including a $100 "water test". read more

I had a leak in the back on the driver side and could not figure out where the water was coming in. I took it to a couple of other garages and both assured me it was the drains from the sunroof that were clogged. I had one of them clean the drains and I thought that was that. I ran it through a car wash and the water was still there. I called one of the shops and they recommended Bimmer Rescue. I took my car to Bimmer Rescue and described the problem. Showed them where I thought the water was coming in and left the car there. I was called early the next day with a description of the problem and what was required to take care of it. Long story short, no more water! Even with the crazy rain we've had, no more water. I would highly recommend these guys. Kyle was great and the service techs did a wonderful job. While they had my car they performed an in-depth inspection and sent me the report. I was told my 2012 328i is in great condition. There were a few non critical recommendations regarding fluids which were coming up anyway. Thanks so much Bimmer Rescue. After two not so good experiences with my local Stealership I decided to give them a shot and I was more than satisfied. Patrick and Mike were really nice and professional. The shop was clean and they gave me a loaner. Try getting a loaner at the Stealership for a 2007 without scheduling a decade in advance. Best service we ever got at a repair shop! They really bend over backwards to make their customers happy. If I lived in the area, I would only take my BMW to Bimmer Rescue for service. Here's why: Bought a car in Virginia and had plans to drive back to California ASAP. Bimmer Rescue replaced the blower resistor on this car for the original owner 2 months prior. After taking delivery of the car, we noticed the blower was not working properly. It's hot and humid. It was critical that we needed this to work. We called up Bimmer Rescue. Spoke to Rick, he got us in right away and took care of the issue and found the blower motor had gone bad as well. They replaced the blower motor and resistor under the shop warranty and we are back on the road an hour and a half later!!! Rick took some time to share some highlights on they way home. I took the car there originally to charge the ac they charged me $317 then it stopped working the next day which was a Friday and they were closed all weekend. My car blew out heat so I had to spend money on rental car. Then called them as soon as they opened Monday no answer or call back for hours. I pulled up to the location and they stated there phone service does not work properly. They then gave me a loaner vehicle that was full of hair and dirt the car was disgusting. I returned the rental complaining the manager promised me due to all the inconveniences that I would not pay more that $280 in addition finally got a call today which is wed around 1pm to say that my car will be $1500 to get fixed. I showed up explaining to the owner what the manger promised me and he refused me of service and only offered to a couple hundred for labor but still attempted to charge me 1000 to fix my car. Made my fiancée get out of the loaner. He then pulled my car out the garage in the rain and refused to do business or even fix the main issue. I felt as if I was racial discriminated against and I would not recommend anyone to do business with them. I'm contacting the BBB. read more

BEWARE and always get a second opinion before spending your money!!! I had a problem with my 2004 BMW M3 convertible top and I was stopped at a local repair shop who said they were unable to take me that week. While I was there, I spoke with a Retired Henrico Police officer that I respect greatly, and he recommended Bimmer Rescue. I drove my car there and was met by a friendly face that I knew. I thought, this is great, I know the guy... I'll be taken care of well. I left my car with a small list of "To Do's" and they even paid for my Uber home. This was on Monday... Wednesday I was sent an email with fairly comprehensive inspection results... I was notified that they couldn't visually find a cause to the "coolant leak" and told me what a pressure test and diagnostics would cost. I hesitantly agreed (Turns out the system just needed to be bled of air). They sent me a picture of a dried up spot at the bleeder valve and said that was the leak (this was in the inspection results)... They found the cause of the convertible top not operating (frayed wire) and told me how much it was to replace it. I declined. It was there for an oil change which they performed for an outrageous amount. They notified me that my car wouldn't pass inspection due to suspension issues. I had notified them that I had a 4 wheel alignment 2 weeks prior, yet they still failed it. (I have since had it checked out by 2 reparable shops that said the suspension was in great shape, one which bled my coolant for free and its been fine ever since). I declined further work and was called Wednesday and notified that my car was ready for me to come pick up- still "leaking fluid" and a (falsely) failed inspection and an inspection sheet that recommended thousands of dollars worth of work... I arrived by Uber (They paid for that too) Thursday morning and the wiring loom had been all but shredded to find a few wires showing minimal wear (in their shop, I wrapped the wires with electrical tape and then I left to fix the rest of it). When I went to go into my trunk the next morning to put something in there, I saw the back of the rear headrest laying in the rear window... I opened the top and discovered that it was freshly super glued (poorly even). The response I got was "When the tech were testing the top, the tech put his hand on the top of the headrest and the cover literally fell off. In your paperwork for the top it was mentioned you MAY need a headrest as he clips are brittle over time and use"... No, it was broken because YOUR TECH BROKE IT!! I took the pieces and I laid them in the seat and went back to the trunk. When I opened it, I found the trunk had not been reassembled when they took it apart to research the top issue. After further inspection, there were numerous parts they had not put back in place around the car, so I had to do it myself. Over $460 for basically an oil change and all I really got was a fat bill and a broken car. We texted back and forth a few times (some of me me sending pictures of what was left in disarray) and I got "I'll call you shortly"... That was June 12, and I sill haven't heard from them... But they sure had no problem taking my money! ALWAYS, ALWAYS, get a second opinion before spending a dime! read more

This place is a ripoff. Took an 1987 BMW 325 that hadn't run in a couple years to get an evaluation to see if it was worth fixing. They called me and said that it needed ~ $1500 worth of work to get the engine running, which I thought was reasonable. It was only AFTER that work was done that they told me it basically needed an entirely new suspension system to the tune of ~$3000. Subsequently the car needed even more work to make it safe to operate. If I had known all that, I never would have authorized the engine work in the first place. Since then, my wife has taken it back there against my wishes. Finally , after a few years, I went thru the various invoices with her and pointed out how much they had ripped her off through the years. She agreed, and it will never go back there again. read more

I tried this service shop after purchasing a used BMW and I had several bad customer service experiences for about 4 months before going elsewhere. The lobby room is nicely stocked with snacks and art and couches a bling, but their customer service was extremely poor, their pricing high, and their mechanical work was pretty sketchy. So sketchy that I was not sure if I had a lemon on my hands or just a bad service shop and I went elsewhere. I'm glad I did, as I still have the car and it is doing great. The second shop found that a part BR had installed was defective. It could have been an easy fix if BR had been motivated enough to make sure the job was done right, but they blew me off when I advised I was having problems with their repair. If I find someone that I really don't like, who has a BMW, I will be sure to refer them to Bimmer Rescue. read more

They were able to custom fit the exhaust I needed, install the breaks, fix my windshield, and install pathway lights for my doors in less then 2 business days! I was extremely pleased with the service. The team was very professional along with incredibly friendly. They also gave me a loaner car for free while my car was in their shop. Not impressed. I took my Z4 in to get it serviced. Not only did it come back and they wanted $3K of repairs, they had managed to damage the front tires so that my vehicle would start vibrating at high speeds. Like an idiot, I believed them when they said it wasn't their fault and paid them to try to fix the problem (they thought the front wheels needed straightening). I had to take it to Cullops on Broad to get the correct diagnosis and the damage repaired. Be wary! read more

I would like to start out by saying they have a great customer service acumen that makes you feel welcome once you walk through the door. The atmosphere is very comfortable. I needed a lot of work done on my '04 BMW 530i with 265K and the time it took to repair was going to be several days, I am glad they had transportation provided for me until I could get my vehicle back.
