Excellent, Thorough, Professional, Courteous Traveling from out of state to buy a car, Mr Kim fit a pre-purchase inspection in on a Saturday morning. He took the time to discuss the vehicle and the process prior to starting his work, he was very patient and attentive from the beginning. He took the vehicle on a test drive, afterwards performing a complete and thorough inspection. After he completed his work, with the car still on the lift, we walked around the vehicle and he explained his opinions, observations, & concerns. He took the time to listen and answer questions, making sure everything was addressed. In the end, charging a very fair and reasonable price. Simply, I cannot overstate how professional, knowledgeable, and thorough Mr. Kim was. I have a great mechanic at home, but any & everyone looking for a great mechanic in the Richmond area would benefit from going to JK Auto Care. read more

It's great to have a trusted mechanic who is reasonably priced, great quality and offers great advice. We are on our fourth car with J, and wouldn't go anywhere else. He has worked with us on older cars ensuring we are safe but not pushing extra services that we don't have to have. read more

JK's work is great and affordable! Had broken front sway bar from hitting a curb in icy conditions. Honestly auto work. I recommend them! read more

Left a review 4 years ago and I am still pleased with JK Auto! JK Auto is the most trusted and reliable mechanic shop I have ever experienced. They do not take advantage of their customers and are always friendly. Jae will explain the work and has done very large repairs on my Xterra. I have never been disappointed. read more

I've been bringing my car to JK for a couple of years now. It's very easy to get an appointment here, I've called and been seen same day or next day. The owner truly cares and does a good job. He doesn't try to sell you products or services you don't actually need which I highly respect and appreciate. All around honest people running an honest business! read more

A great family run service shop for all makes and models. "J" and family welcome you in and treat you like a valued customer. Any promises made have been kept in a very timely manner and they have always made time to fit us in. We recently had an issue with a window that didn't go up and they were able to find a replacement and repair it within a day. They even kept the car inside overnight so we didn't have to worry about rain getting inside with the window being down. I'm happy to give them my business with two vehicles we own. You should too. read more

I would definitely recommend this auto care center to anyone asking for advice on where to go. As a single woman, and I'm sure many other women can relate, whenever I have to take my car in, I am usually a target for jargon and unnecessary repairs in order to make more money. This was honestly the first time I did not feel like a target. Jae Kim was very honest, and did not pressure me at all. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was going on with my car, and even a timeline of when he felt repairs would truly be necessary. I brought my car in just for an overall maintenance inspection as it's a pretty old car (2001), and I left with a game plan of when I needed either needed to make repairs or start looking for a new vehicle. Thanks so much JK Auto Care! read more

Fit me in right away, quickly and accurately provided fixes where needed and explained where fixes weren't needed. Pricing was very reasonable, customer service was fantastic, and everything was super quick. I had such a great experience that my boyfriend ended up leaving his car with them when he drove me to pick up mine and got similarly excellent service at a great price. As a woman I hate finding a new mechanic when I move because I'm always afraid I'm going to get ripped off, but I can happily say I've got a new mechanic here in Richmond who I trust! read more

My window wiper motor needed to be replaced (arms stopped moving completely and made no noise when I turned it on). I got estimates at 3 places before I decided to come here: 1) Pearsons Honda dealership was the MOST expensive. Around $400 2) Merchants Auto was around $350 3) Allen Tire ($68 for the diagnostic check + $128.95 for an after-market window wiper motor + $103 labor per hour = $300 I almost decided to go to Allen Tire Auto Shop, but I ran into a friend who gave me a solid recommendation to come to JK Auto Shop when his window wiper stopped working last winter (his turned out to be just s sensor problem because while the arms stopped moving, it still made clicking noises when you turned it on). In terms of price, JK Auto beat all the competing shops in the labor per hour at $90 and gave me the most competitive price for the car part. While I was waiting in the shop, I met a big, friendly guy who stopped by to say hello to Jae and to just hang out for while. The guy's name is David, Jae's car part supplier. I suspect Jae gets great wholesale prices from David, who then passes his savings unto his customers. At the reception, there's this friendly guy named Joe who is also a fitness buff. He and his brother used to be the previous owners of the shop and they sold it to Jae 2 years ago. But Joe still sticks around to help out with the transition and connects Jae to their existing customer base. The owner, Jae seems well liked and well-connected with different people in the car fixing industry. In term of service, my wipers work great and Jae and this other guy are speedy with their work. I was in and out in 1 hour 15 min. Update!! On 2/29/16 I got my battery installed and the battery terminal was corroded so they fixed that too! They accommodated me even though I didn't have an appt and it was the last day of the month which is the busiest day for car shops I hear. I was in and out and it was a breeze. Thanks again JK! Will always come here! read more

I would recommend this place to anyone asking where to take their car for repairs, they are super honest and reliable. I have told everyone I know to come here for any car needs! read more

These guys are great. Very honest and are not looking to rip you off. They will not make you pay for services you do not need. They will let you know what is wrong and will give you a fair price. They are quick too. I came in a for an oil change during my lunch break. Still had 20 mins to spare before I had to be back! Definitely recommend theses guys. read more

I went here a while back bc my brakes were squeaking very badly and I'd been told by the dealership that they were pretty worn down and I'd likely have to change them soon. Well when they started squeaking, I tried to make an appt w the dealership but it was two wks out. So I tried JK Auto bc of the high reviews and they were awesome! Receptionist was really polite and nice, and Jae himself was really forthright and upfront. He called me after looking over the brakes and I was almost POSITIVE I would've had to change out the brakes completely. But instead he told me he had cleaned them up and there was no need to change them, that they actually had quite a lot of mileage left in them. He actually suggested I don't change them even though I am not knowledgeable about cars and would've taken his word if he'd said I ought to. I was really impressed by how honest he was when it would have been easy for him to make a much bigger buck. If I have any other car issues, I'm definitely coming back here. They were friendly, direct, and honest! Not to mention super affordable and completed the work quickly! read more

Great people, fair prices, pretty quick. No issues afterwards. Allowed me to take a road trip I had planned the next day. Would recommend!

JK Auto is amazing! We've been using them for several years now. They are trustworthy, fast, and very reasonable on prices. I've recommended family and friends. We're so happy to have a mechanic we can trust and know are not going to price gouge us. read more

They are the best. I have come here multiple times and they are super honest and get to the bottom of the issue without talking down to you, giving you the run around, or making you pay for other things. I will continue to bring my car here! read more

Needed an oil change before a last minute trip. I called them up and told them my situation. They told me to bring it right in. As soon as I got there, they pulled it into the shop. No waiting! Jae & Adam worked so hard to repair my AC! My 4 year old Forester's AC compressor randomly died and I had a few leaks in the system. JK worked on my car until all the leaks were found and repaired. They also found an affordable compressor replacement for me. My car has been nice and frosty since! On top of their great service and work they helped me get my daughter to her very first week of school by loaning me a car. So grateful for this. I love this shop! Thank you Jae & Adam for all your help!! read more

This is a wonderful family owned auto mechanic shop. They were able to fit new brakes on my car and conducted an inspection as well. Notified me that my air filters were dirty. Showed me the old one that was removed. Very happy. I have returned several times for upkeep on my Toyota. Thanks! read more

Very professional and articulate and quick at trouble spotting issues that other mechanics missed. They do what they say they will do, stay on schedule and are very friendly. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. Single woman recommended. They are also good at explaining to the non mechanic brain what the issues are and how they are being repaired and relate to the overall car. Highly recommend for anyone. read more

Ladies, if you are looking for a good auto shop that charges fair prices and won't talk down to you/take advantage of your gender stereotypes, then this place is for you! Excellent customer service and car care. I will definitely be back! read more

This place is great! As a female, it is often hard to go alone to auto places to trust them to give you honest advice and not to overcharge and try to get over. But at JK Auto, I feel like I'm in great hands! Everything is explained to me in great detail and they make sure I understand. I was fortunate to find this place when I moved to Richmond only a year ago and it's so close to my job which makes it even better! Plus they also have complimentary tea and coffee and free caffeine can win me over any day! :) read more

I called ahead to see if they had a wait, since its Saturday morning. The person who answered told me to come in, i have a 2015 car that needs synthetic oil, everywhere else i called wanted $80+, here they told me $59.99 but i had a yelp coupon so it came out to half of that!! the waiting area was comfortable and it took about 40 minutes to complete the work. I will continue to bring my car here. overall a great experience read more

I went here for an oil change as I'm from Massachusetts and haven't gotten one since I moved here in August. I called a day ahead and the man on the phone said they didn't have any open spots when I had available time, but he squeezed me in. When I got there they took my car in right away. The waiting room was comfortable enough and the oil change took average time. I would definitely return for future services. read more

Love this place very courteous fast and friendly does awesome work and reasonably priced.

Called in the morning to ask if they'd have space to do an oil change and was assured it would be fine. When I arrived, they remembered my call, which I appreciated. I asked to use the yelp coupon but it isn't applicable to full synthetic oil changes. Instead, they offered to take $10 off for me. Was told it would take about 45 minutes so I went for a walk. It took less than 45 minutes but I only realized this when I walked back and saw the car waiting. I took a star off because I think they should've called me when they were done. Otherwise, I didn't have an issue, and would go there again. Total cost was about $45. read more

I needed an oil change about a month ago or so and I looked on yelp and I saw all these good reviews and I thought to myself they must be doing something right. Well all the reviews were right they are excellent from the moment you walk into the door. They treat you with kindness and are genuine. They helped with the price even though I never asked they automatically were willing to tell me how I could save. So they beat all the competition around , in price. They filled all my fluids and filled up my tires with air. Now here this is my second time around, I called last minute and told them I was sorry I really needed an oil change because I'm leaving to go out of town they again blew me away they fitted me into their schedule even though it was last minute. I would definitely recommend these guys. This is my place to get my car worked on honest and professional JK Auto Care. read more

Very honest and deligent! When I was told to replace lots of things at other major competitior, the mechanic here gave me whole lot cheaper price for necessary replacement only. Been going here a few times now and they are awesome at what they do. They don't beat around the bush they tell you what's wrong and what to get fixed first. They are good on prices compared to a lot of other shops around the area and accommodate what needs to be done. A+ work read more

Excellent, reasonably-priced service. I first went to JK to get my car inspected and tires replaced. They were quick, honest, and gave me a good price. I had such a good experience with them that when my friend was looking at buying a car, I suggested that she bring it to JK to get it checked out. Jae did a workup and looked into the legitimacy of the car. Turns out the guy trying to sell the car to my friend was trying to scam her, and we wouldn't have known (seriously, it wasn't one of those obvious craigslist scams) if it wasn't for him. Jae confronted the guy about discrepancies between his description of the car and the actual car, and my friend didn't have to worry about it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

My first experience with JK Auto was when I blew my engine in 2013. My mechanic at the time told me that they would only put in a new engine and at a tremendous cost. At the recommendation of my neighbor I gave Jae a call, he gave me an estimate on a used engine at a much more affordable price. Jae gave me daily updates on the progress of the repairs and of the cost. The repair was done in a timely manor and at a cost that beat competitors. 3 years later my engine is running great! Since then I've taken my car to JK Auto for all my car maintenance and repairs. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. read more

Nice, finish work in a quickly manor and they don't try to break your pockets or rip you off. Great auto shop.

WORST! WORST! WORST! Worst auto care shop in Richmond area. I have been in lot of auto shops for my car services but never ever seen such a worst customer service. I went here since they had good review online. I think there is something fishy with the reviews across websites. I paid for full engine light diagnosis and they gave me 2 sensor problems, which I paid to correct it. Immediately in 2 minutes, when I picked up my car, the engine light came back. When I approached them they were rude and asked for additional diagnosis cost, which did not made any sense. They denied for any sort of refund and started using abusive words. I DO NOT recommend this place. Better go to other stores where you get good service, value for your money and people respect you as customer. read more

One of the most fair and nicest mechanics I've ever been to. Always seems to find time to fit me in even on busy days, gives lower prices than most people I've found for his work, and happy to explain any and everything to you should you have questions.
