I love my 2019 crosstrek. So..I told my brother to purchase a used car from them. He did.within 3 months 3 tires blew out!! I specifically asked the agent if the tires were good before the purchase. He implied that there was sufficient thread. Needless to say all tires had try rot. Subaru refused to replace the tires. Also the brakes were down to there last legs!!! I bought a car from here in September, Kelley was my sales person. Kelley herself was amazing. She got everything situated and ready for me as I drove 4.5 hours here for this specific car. Everything was going smoothly until we got into Finance with Howard. Right from the jump he was unenthusiastic and appeared annoyed with simple questions or requests. Fast forward 30 minutes, we're half way through the paperwork and Howard asks if I want to add GAP coverage to my loan. I specially stated "NO, my insurance offers Gap I don't need it." Well after looking at my paperwork, Howard disregarded my words and added GAP onto my loan for the cost of $200. When first reaching out in SEPTEMBER to get this resolved, Howard said a refund for the amount would be issued. I reached back out in November and didn't hear anything, I had left a voicemail for Nico (the general manager) and never got a response. I called again on the 17th of December and spoke with a manager named Anthony. He said to give him sometime (he said around an hour) and that he would get back to me. I still haven't heard back. The lack of communication is insane. Howard's blatant disregard to my words is baffling. I just want answers and nobody can seem to give me any. read more

Went in looking for a forester. Price was more then 5k over sticker. I understand it's a good car but cars aren't for investment purposes and it doesn't make sense long term. Never made it inside the dealership. **** update **** My post was reported (wonder by who) and taken down so I can explain more. I was being nice in my initial review but now I'll explain the entire visit. I went there looking for a new car. Was met in the parking lot by a male employee, early 20's. Told him my price range and what I was trading in. He immediately brought me to the SUV's (good start). I asked him what was the price and I was quoted over 5k over sticker. I explained to him that 5k over is a bit dishonest and his response was "if we don't raise the prices then how do you expect us to make money". He further said it's a good investment. I explained to him how incorrect his statement was and I was pretty much shut down by the point. A few weeks later I receive a call from a supervisor there why the follow up review was poor. Purchased my 2015 forester used from them. In about 2 weeks my brakes started squeezing & clicking, put it up on jacks & it needed brakes, rotors, and checked the transmission & diff fluid & realized they gave me a brand new inspection, new tires & didn't even actually take care of other necessities the car lacks. It has 58kmiles, and no service other than new tires & oil changes have been done to it. South Shore replaced the rear pads, not the rotors even though they are original & 10years old now, the backup camera because it was distorted in color & told me "the mechanic looked at the fluids & everything is good". I bought a used Subaru from a Subaru dealership that praises itself on family values & keeping customers for life, yet they give a brand new inspection & can't even inspect for basic brakes, let alone ensure the oil services are done as per Subaru's service timing. These CVT's are finicky & fluids should be changed regularly, not just inspected. You can inspect it a million times, when the transmission blows and you have funky fluid, the dealership will tell you what it costs to replace the transmission, not that 10year old fluid was the cause. They have had it over 2 months and every few weeks I call with no update. Now all of a sudden today it is done, rear pads were replaced, a few trim pieces but the fluids are good & camera was replaced. Great so the 10year old rotors and whole original front set are still driveable. Thanks for taking care of me like you would your mother or brother. read more

We purchased a pre-certified forester in January 2023. After 2 weeks, the trunk light started to hang down. After being told numerous times by several Express Lane Service Advisors "just stick it up" (one of them being very arrogant) and myself being so frustrated with the light hanging and "sticking it up" almost daily. I contacted South Shore Subaru once again. I spoke to Lisa, who was extremely polite and helpful and put me in contact with a wonderful polite Service Advisor, JOSHUA SOLIVAN ( I capitalized his name for the reason he was wonderful to work with). Had an appt to see Rob in sales. When we got to the dealership, Rob was helping another customer which we understood. He tried helping us with a test drive and assessing our trade while still helping his original customer. We waited about an hour and sat about 20 feet away from the sales manager. During the whole time there the Sales Manager never greeted us or even made eye contact. Never even offered to help while Rob was busy. The sales manager sat on his phone the whole time we were there. Poor customer focus by the sales manager. In addition, we decided to walk the lot by ourselves. 1st review: I made an appointment last week to bring my car in for an oil change today. I arrive 10 min early and am greeted by no one. Avoided by all. I get out of the car and go inside and state that I'm here for an oil change, they tell me to go away and come back another day because they are backed up. I can understand getting off schedule but if people have appointments they can at least do them the curtesy of calling to let them know not to bother coming in. Very rude staff and a waste of time. Don't bother with them. Update: the service manager Eric reached out to me and apologized for the confusion and offered for me to bring in the car ASAP. He was very kind and even gave my son a toy to play with while we waited. Very nice about the whole thing and sincere. We will be coming back here for our future needs. read more

They gave us a cash quote for our trade in, but then they lowered by $3000 when we arrived. They told us that our car was "junk" and could not expect to get paid as if it was in perfect condition. They were rude and disrespectful. Carmax gave us the same cash quote for the same car and when we arrived we got the actual quote ( $3000) above suburu dealership. They should take a lesson from carmax in honesty and professionalism. read more

HONESTY IS THE ONLY POLICY AT SOUTH SHORE SUBARU Although, we ultimately did not end up doing business with @SouthshoreSubaru, we were impressed with their honesty. During the process we met three individuals that deserve mention. Randall: New to the car business, I wish him the best. Very low key, no pressure type of guy. Probably what Subaru customers are looking for in a sales associate. Very honest. One thing I would recommend for Randall is, "under promise, over deliver". In the end, this will improve everyone's experience. Ted: Floor Manager: Super personable fellow, the type of guy you would want to have a beer with. Very patient with new sales staff as well. Had a short conversation about service to country and community. Always a good idea to find common ground in any situation, business or personal. Josh: GM: A subtle leader with an honest face. Although the transaction ultimately failed, the experience left me not unhappy. By in large this was due to the efforts of Josh. Josh made many apologies for a predecessors oversight, which was the cause of the failed transaction. During the process of attempting to save the deal, Josh stayed in constant contact, updating me on situation. Summary: One failed deal does not have to equate to a bad experience. Though this transaction did complete, the experience overall was worthy of 4 stars on Yelp. We were originally interested in a Mazda CX-5 fully loaded and discussed with Salesman Bob D., and his associate Lou which was a new hire shadowing him, the range in cars my fiance and I were looking for, none of which were Subaru. He did everything he could to steer us away from the car by bragging off a 2018 BASE Forrester Manual which had nothing of what we were looking for other than appealing to my boyfriend of its manual transmission. The only reason why we were entertaining it is cause Bob strongly suggested in driving the Forester first before the Mazda which is typical salesman tactics but whatever. Not only that, I told my fiance to be careful before test driving and was going to explain that I had been in a car accident recently and am still shell-shocked but then BOB interrupted me and admonished me from speaking any further to my fiance that would hinder him from having the "ultimate experience" Bob was trying to give him. That made me extremely uncomfortable, belittled and alienated which then RUINED ANY CHANCE of us purchasing the car at that dealership no matter what. The car was a poor suggestion of what my fiance and I had in mind and not only that, Bob gave us the impression that I didn't know how to drive stick and my fiance listed the cars I have had that were in manual transmissions. After the test drive, Bob gave my fiance a review of the service station and in that time I got to know Lou (the new hire/associate) and felt better from my exchange with him and it reminded me that there are the good salesmen and then the bad ones. When we got back to the dealership from the test drive I quickly told my fiance how I felt and that we were originally here with a list in mind and when we told Bob about still wanting to drive the Mazda, he told us that he parked it back in the lot while my fiance and I were talking almost as if the Mazda was cleared from being an option anymore since we test drove the Subaru. He then made an off-putting joke about the car commission to Lou in front of us and let Lou handle our Mazda test drive instead while Bob stayed in the dealership. Lou was kinder, non-aggressive and allowed us to really consider our priorities. Overall, my fiance liked the power behind the Mazda more so than the Subaru's smooth stickshift but because of Bob's aggressive over-sell pitching, he didn't want to be convinced of otherwise again. And Bob had put a clearly unfavored view of the Mazda for us earlier that we saw it as a sign to not even buy the used car there at the dealership. I think because Bob assumed the car was going to be under my fiance's name that he would only have to concentrate on what could appeal to him but if he really heard my fiance, he told Bob that he's looking for a car that would suit the needs of him and I so alienating me early on was a clear no-go. I was supposed to be taken seriously but it went elsewhere I guess. Oh and by the way, we were still given a price on the Subaru with the typical unnecessary dealership charges listed on the summary (who charges for shipping fees on a car that's ON THE LOT?! Scummy dealerships preying on the unknown clearly) and he didn't even give us the final pricing on the Mazda. It's a great, new facility but the rules still stand anywhere: 1. Stay firm on what your priorities are. 2. Don't let anyone steer you otherwise unless it can absolutely serve what your priorities are. 3. Be prepared to walk away from any deal if it doesn't work for you. 4. ABOVE ALL, DO ALL THE RESEARCH YOURSELF before going to a dealership. Clearly, our experience is because we wanted a non-Subaru/used car in a NEW SUBARU lot and others looking for a Subaru most likely won't have that experience but this all could've had a different outcome. We eventually went to a Volkswagen dealership 3 days later and got a fully loaded certified pre-owned 6-speed GTI from a salesman also named Bob. Loved the service from everyone and even got a few thousand shaved off of our budget without even starting to bargain. Most importantly, I was included in the conversation as an equal in every step and that helped me feel confident in the car being purchased as well. Win-Win. read more

We all know how difficult and frustrating it can be to purchase or lease a new car - mostly because of the back and forth negotiating process and sales pitches that can take the better part of an entire day and land you in therapy for 4-6 months. I have a 2016 Forester Touring with 40K, and bought it in for service to include a Transmission flush which involves using 2 gallons of transmission oil.. NOTE: The transmission is a sealed case with no dip-stick. Upon looking at the invoice it indicated drain transmission fluid only 1 gallon use used. The counter service apologized for not typing my "SPECIFIC" instructions. TAKE AWAY-READ CAREFULLY PROPOSAL before leaving shop. read more
