South Shore hole #2

Course maintained well. Not too crowded Tuesday morning. Good value and parking is reasonable. Just $1 and let the pro shop know that you parked for golf.

Solid CPD course in overall good condition. There was some recent flooding on the first fairway that killed some of the grass, and the bunkers were so-so, but it was definitely in better shape than some other CPD courses like Columbus Park. We tees off early as a fast playing twosome and didn't bump into anyone until the 7th Hole. Took our time but still played 9 in under 2 hours which is good for a city course. Watch out for the 9th Hole, as it's only 110 yards with the parking lot right on the other side. Park your car close to the building to stay away from the green. Both of the staff members, Garrett and Isaiah, were awesome guys who were very helpful and professional. You could tell they genuinely love their jobs and they were super friendly.

Great golf on the shores of Lake Michigan in a historic setting! It's only9 holes, but you can play it twice!

Greens are bad sometimes but overall a good 9 hole. Tight fairways. 2nd hole is a long par 4 but should be a short par 5.

As someone who is just getting started golfing, he has really stressed the fundamentals while still pushing me to get to a point where I have the necessary skills to be able to practice and grow independently. The difference I see after each lesson is measurable and I've always left with things to practice (with videos demonstrating the exercise) so I can continue to see growth. Additionally, his location is a fantastic setup with some of the newest golf simulator technology to really enhance the lesson experience. I did a fair amount of research on different golf instructors and facilities in Chicago and am thrilled I landed on My Chicago Golf. I can't recommend Marcus and My Chicago Golf enough.

So yes, I have taken a full and complete look at this business and my experiences with it and simply had a different experience than others. I took lessons here awhile back and have recently been taking lessons at a different business recently. The lessons at My Chicago Golf started out well. Marcus was attentive and was able to make a difference in my game. Things were going well. That is, until, he slept through one of our scheduled appointments. His system sends out numerous reminders about upcoming appointments to customers. Unfortunately, it seems that it only sends them out to his customers, and not to him. We had an appointment scheduled, and I showed up fifteen minutes early. His storefront was locked, and knocking and ringing the doorbell did not yield any type of response. Unfortunately, emailing, texting, and leaving voicemails also did not make a difference either as they all went unanswered. After waiting about forty-five minutes for a sixty minute lesson, he finally opened the door. At that time, however, the customer for the next hour was already waiting at the door! That customer was courteous enough to let me use his scheduled hour, and he rescheduled with Marcus. As the lesson went on, Marcus did apologize for sleeping through it. He said that he overscheduled himself that morning, which caused him to oversleep during a nap. He was definitely drowsy throughout the appointment, and wasn't entirely alert or focused on my swing. What disappointed me the most, however, was that he didn't take responsibility for his mishap. Mistakes happen to everyone. Apologizing is only the first step in taking responsibility for those mistakes. He didn't offer an extra free lesson or a refund, or anything for that matter, to make up for his major mistake. This last part that is why he is losing two stars. If he would have taken responsibility for his failures, I wouldn't be as disappointed with him. I even would have used the final lessons I had in the package I purchased. Instead, I let them go unused because I was so let down by him. Missing an appointment completely without notice and/or an acceptable reason is a huge negative and a large problem. These lessons are not cheap. What's even worse is not taking responsibility for it. Mistakes can be overlooked, if the person making those mistakes owns up to them and takes responsibility. Unfortunately that didn't happen here.

One is a library kinda like Harry Potter. The other is snow/ski lodge themed. The reservation option for unlimited play and food tickets was a pretty good deal at around $40. With a group of 3 people each course ended up taking about 30 minutes. Some of the courses were kinda hard and we ended up just skipping after 6 tries since that's the max score. There were times when the screen glitched out or when the previous people at the course left their scorecard and it needed to be cleared. It wasn't that big of deal but one of us did have to get an employee from the dining area when this happened (at the ski lodge course). The software is pretty cool, you use the tablet at each station and once you finish inputting your score, your group's scorecard will automatically pop up at the next location. Perfect fun especially when you go at a time that's not too busy. We went on Mother's Day evening so maybe that's not a popular activity for mother's. Overall I'd recommend puttery to anybody that enjoys mini golf or wants a fun date idea.

As Halloween lovers, we were excited to check out the experience, especially with its creative drinks and themed atmosphere. We started with the Electric Jolt cocktail and the It's Alive mocktail. The Electric Jolt reminded me of a margarita, while the mocktail was surprisingly tasty and had a fun interactive element! For food, I ordered the Fire Bolt Frankenwings extra crispy, and they were easily one of my favorite parts of the evening. The wings had a great crunch, and the green buffalo sauce delivered just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. My husband ordered the Monster Smash Burger and really enjoyed it, especially the glowing green aioli. I also tried The Monstrosity cocktail, which was probably the coolest presentation of the night. Watching the dry ice create a smoky effect from the beaker was such a fun touch! Unfortunately, the whiskey flavor was a little too strong for my preference. The biggest disappointment for me was the fries. Although the slime-green topping fit the theme perfectly, the sauce had a gritty texture that I really didn't enjoy. We took some time to explore the venue, and I appreciated the creativity that went into the overall concept. It's definitely a fun idea for Halloween enthusiasts or anyone looking for something different from a traditional date night. Overall, we had a decent time, but the experience didn't completely live up to the hype for us. The presentation and creativity were memorable, but some of the food and drinks were hit-or-miss. I'm glad we gave it a try, but it's probably not an experience I'd rush back to repeat.

It was all of our first time so we weren't really sure how it worked. Eventually the hostess came by and gave us a brief rundown which was enough to get started with the tech. We still didn't really know what we were doing in terms of what clubs to use etc but gave it a shot. About an hour in, one of the staff instructors came around to help with that but it was brief and I feel like we still didn't quite know the very basics, like which club to use, how to hold it, how to swing properly. Eventually another girl joined our session and she had a ton of pointers and got us back to basics, which made it enjoyable! I didn't end up ordering food but it looked good. The servers checked on us a bunch at first which makes sense. There was a little pressure to join their subscription for $5 the first month, but to be expected for a free experience. The staff was very kind! I just wish we had a little more guidance as first-timers, especially with the nature of this promo.
