The location is not far from the town of Ithaca, yet it feels country like, which is nice to relax and have a good time with friends & family. I only tried one glass of cider and this is why...It was my first time there and I was doing some tastings at other spots prior and I wasn't looking to buy a whole glass of every cider they had just to tame my curiosity. So sadly I had to settle with choosing only one which was tasty and I'm not a cider aficionado. But I wish they offered more options like build your own flight which would appeal to people looking for better prices and more options. Or maybe just a flight without food pairing for the people who are just interested in the main attraction. I would return with the expectation of having a more flexible menu to try the other ciders. Who knows, this might make a difference read more

My friends and I visited South Hill Cider for the first time in July. This place has great views and nice outdoor seating. We ordered the Sausage Board and 3 Cider Flights. My favorite cider was Baldwin. A sausage board was a bit small to share for 3 people so I would recommend ordering both the sausage and cheese board if you have 3-4 people. It's a perk if the weather is super nice too! read more

Was super excited for this place and yet so disappointed. My girlfriend and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich to split and it ended up being ONE HALF of a sandwich that we finished in 2 bites. The worker didnt even have the decency to tell us the sandwich was only 1 half, when we clearly were splitting it. Why in the world would anywhere ever sell Half of a sandwiche... major rip off. The cider doesnt even make up for the over priced food. read more

The space is wonderful. There's plenty of outdoor seating with a very nice view. We sat outside and the temperature was perfect. There were some pizza ovens set up that had pretty good thin crust pizza. I had the pulled pork sandwich from the cidery and that was only okay. My boyfriend liked the flight that he got. we did the standard 5 cider tasting. this included a tray of snacks for each of us that had popcorn, olives, mixed nuts and some delicious seasoned cheese curds. we also ordered the melted cheese and crostini which was delicious. the service was very good. the woman bringing us each cider to taste was very nice and knowledgeable. it was a beautiful day and even though I had picked indoor seating, we were able to sit outdoors. we had a reservation which was for 1.5 hours but no one rushed us to leave. Had a great cider tasting at South Hill Cider after hiking at Buttermilk Falls State Park. You get to try 5 ciders with food pairings, and the beautiful glass is yours to bring home. We loved the different varieties of ciders and snacks! There is a ton of great outside space with choices for sun and shade and some of the area is even covered, which helped when it started raining. Hands down the best cidery in the Fingerlakes region! I loved their cider before opening the tasting room. However the tasting room brings it to the next level. Very well thought out design and one of our favorite places to stop on the weekend. Excellent variety of cider, and small bites (cheese, charcuterie board, pretzels). Good cider, nice outdoor seating. Fantastic pizza, which was a separately owned business outside. However, a very rude staff. As someone who has been in the customer service industry for over 10 years, not the best way to keep a customer. And a very quick way to destroy a potential repeat customer relationship. For the customer service alone within the Cider Mill, would not recommend. Ruined the experience. read more

They have expanded a lot since I came this past January. This is the closest cidery to Ithaca. It's a great place to come and get food and drinks with friends. They usually have outside food like pizza, but they also have light snacks and dessert to satisfy the new law made by Cuomo. The annoying thing is that you have to purchase a snack with your cider per person and not just per order. I like their Farmhouse the best. read more

Honestly feel like this cider place is trying too hard to be napa-like. Classic tasting was $39 and it comes with 5 tastings and 4 food pairings. Cider was good but I wasn't mind blown. The owner Steve was very nice and friendly though. And their cheese curds were phenomenal (especially the dressing which is made in house). If it was a little cheaper (say max $25) I'd be more inclined to go again or take friends. read more

RUDE EMPLOYEE!! It started pouring outside and it was 50 degrees so my friend and I went inside and stood at a countertop to wait out the rain. An older woman with brown hair and glasses came up to us and was so nasty to us telling us this is not a drinking counter and since they were full inside we have to stand outside in the rain with a heavy attitude. the counter top was not being used and if she told us in a nice normal manner this would not be an issue. not sure if this woman had her panties in a twist at this moment but this is extremely unacceptable. don't serve people u can't accommodate and then tell them to stand in the rain. will never come back here and will tell everyone i know about this witch of a woman at south hill cider. read more

On the way to a family wedding, I needed some liquid 'support' and drove into the country to go to South Hill, plus I love cider. If you're not local, make sure you have gps as it's an 'interesting' ride through country roads. They were having a weekend event later (with cover charge and food trucks) so I hurried my experience. And yes the outdoors is beautiful, it's sorta on a gently sloping hill with an amazing view, and surrounded by apple orchards. Servers at the cider ordering outdoors location were helpful in choosing which variety to get, and let me run a tab outside that I could finish up with inside (for a bottle to go). I had a dry and a fruity and both were different and delicious. Yeah it's kinda pricey - $7 for a 7 oz cup - the bottles too, but you're paying for a local, amazing business, fresh and excellent. You want cheap, get a sugary angry O at the supermarket. Great place to relax and imbibe. Oh and on busy days, parking might be challenging. read more

We enjoyed our visit to South Hill Cider for the Thursday night music series the past two weeks. You're doing a great job making sure that everyone is mask compliant, socially distanced and cleaning tables and chairs. The music, setting and view are great. We have one significant complaint, however. We understand that NYS is requiring a food purchase with a drink order, but charging $3 for a small handful of nuts or a one third full paper sandwich bag of popcorn is outrageous! Also, I was just at a venue that sold your cider for half the price that you are selling it at your venue, $8 for 16 ouches verses $7 for 7 ounces at the cidery. If this pricing continues, we will not continue to support your otherwise great venue. read more

We had an amazing visit. The young man who gave us the tasting did an amazing job. We all learned so much and appreciated his detailed explanation. Including pictures and drawings. Everything was fresh. The ciders were delicious. They definitely had some of the best ciders I have ever had. We look forward to coming back when we visit to try it again. And stock up. read more

Beautiful rural setting not far from Buttermilk Falls. Great spot to enjoy some cider or other beverages after a hike. Lovely views and setting- especially if you can snag a seating area with fire pit! Dogs welcome, tasty snacks with wonderful flavor combinations make for a charming afternoon or evening. read more

Wow!! These ciders are amazing! We had the premium tasting because we love dry ciders. Our two favorites were the champagne cider and pack basket. Champagne is delightfully champagne-like. And, the pack basket is wild harvested and brewed with wild yeast. Definitely make a reservation in advance, but they have lots of outdoor seating with beautiful views! read more

Really nice ciders that we passed on our way to Buttermilk Falls. We got 5 tastings with 4 different food snacks for around $30. The snacks were popcorn, nuts, cheese, and olives and all delicious. The ciders were really good and large portions. We were able to split one between 2 people and thoroughly enjoyed them. The owner and staff were all very nice and knowledgeable about the drinks.
