My son and I came by to get some rocks for a fountain we are making. So much great selection. We thought they closed at 4:30PM because that is what it said on Yelp but I guess for winter hours they close at 4PM. We went into the office at 3:59 after making our selections. They were nice enough to let us grab the rocks and purchase them even though they were closing soon. And we were very surprised how affordable their prices are. This was my third time there so I knew how it worked. But for newbies, you can go make your selections, then you find one of the forklift drivers to get pallets for you to stack your selections, then they bring them to the scales and they write down the totals. Then you bring the sheet inside to pay. We're sure to be back for future projects. read more

South Coast Supply recently merged with SiteOne Landscape Supply. I've used them for my mulch for the past 11 years. I've learned over the years that you get what you pay for. I have always opted for the Premium Regrind Wood Chips bulk. In past years, my deliveries came on the back of a semi or 18 wheeler with a forklift. That was great. This year, SiteOne has a new dump truck for bulk deliveries. This is the way to go. In and out in 5 minutes, all dropped on the driveway. I'm a bit confused about the business name because the sign outside say SiteOne Landscape Supply. Nonetheless, highly recommend this place for your landscaping project and needs. Came here for ideas and ended up getting maybe 75% of what we needed. Our project started in August 2021 through October , then a follow up with a new project in February 2022 thru March. We got pavers, different sized and colored pebbles, multiple lights including the transformer for them, and my landscaping guy got most of the other supplies here including mulch and sod. We had an issue with the lights however and needed their technician Luis to come help out our guys. They give the lights a 5 year warranty! Luis had to come by several times to rewire some areas. I'm very happy with the quality of the lights and the customer service is stellar. I found out only recently that they have a nursery in Huntington Beach but we did not get our plants from there. Very helpful bilingual staff. Advice for your project: get started soon because prices sure went up from October 2021 to February 2022. And there were also some items unavailable which caused delays in completion. read more

Terrible service. Wife and I went to shop for stepping stones for a walkway. What we got was a 30 second pointy finger towards the vast yard and "the stepping stones are between those two rows over there". Not much help. I went back into the store to see if I could get better help but there were 2 people in line (they came into the store at least 10 minutes earlier) and still had not been helped. Two employees behind the counter; one was multi tasking - answering the phone, talking to the yard workers, and in between telling those in the store she be right with them. The other employee was on the computer and the phone with his back to the counter so as not to be bothered by anyone who walked in looking for help. All in all, no thanks. Plenty of stone shops in Anaheim who have more respect for their customers. read more

Recently we bought a cord of firewood there. It was $361! We split it with our son and when he took a piece out to use it that night it was termite larvae and droppings invested!! Upon looking at our wood and the rest of my son's we realized several pieces were in the same shape!! It is unacceptable that you pay that much for firewood and then bring this into your backyard/home!! Giving this place a 3 star since they had what I wanted at a better price than the other 4 places I checked. Only real "gripe" I had was one of the fork lift drivers went off on me about parking in the fork lift lane. Fair enough and I'm not one to cry about a little argument, but there wasn't any sign to tell you where to park to get loaded and I couldn't flag anyone down that wanted to give me info, so I parked and approached a forklift driver who then proceeded to flip out on me about leaving enough space for him to do his job and for me not to park there. I told him him to eff off and he said something similar. Next guy was helpful and told me where to park and loaded me up and I was on my merry way. Overall not the worst experience I've had and I will be a repeat customer. read more

I've been here a couple of times.. once about 10 years ago and then again about 3 months ago. It seems like this place has changed since my first visit. They have a pretty good selection but I had a less personable experience recently. I had a difficult time finding somebody to assist me and when I finally did, the worker who was fulfilling my order went to lunch and didn't let me know, and hung on to my work order.. so I had to find somebody else to round up my order and help me finish gathering stones. She said they can't do that - customers have to wander around and pick something, then they'll look up the price. I asked her how much they would put in a SUV. She said "60 pounds." (Actual weight limit is closer to 900 pounds, but this person thought my SUV couldn't handle the weight of a large dog.) As you wander, the fork trucks are flying by at high speed. I have never had a good experience here. Last week I went in to find a brick sample. They did not have one displayed in the color I wanted. I went to the desk where 2 employees, who were not helping customers, ignored me for about 3 minutes. A 3rd employee came in and she also ignored me. I was the ONLY customer present. I stood for 12 minutes, trying to be polite hoping one of them would at LEAST greet me and say "I'll be with you in a moment." (Yes, they all saw me) When I was finally acknowledged I asked my question but had to restate it 3 times. It seemed the employee was simply not paying attention to my words. He took me in the back, did not find the color in the back either. He then pulls out a paper catalogue and tells me that because this color is not in the paper catalogue they don't sell it in California. I tell him the the color has been on the website for at least a year. He tells me again that if it's not in the paper catalogue they don't sell it here. I suggest that maybe the catalogue is out of date and ask if he could check online. He literally ignores the question. I ask again and say that the manufacturer's plant is local (about 1.5 hrs drive) and can't imagine why they would make a color HERE that they don't offer here. If they sell it in another part of the country it is still made HERE. He replies with a statement that had nothing to do with what I asked. I repeated my statement and finally gave up when he failed to comprehend..again. Called the manufacturer. Yes, of course, they offer this color here. I end up having to pay them for a sample and definitely won't be ordering from SCS. I have noticed on prior trips that women are often ignored by the staff, even by the female staff. I have witnessed men being promptly greeted and helped while a woman who was already waiting is ignored. Perhaps that is the issue. I may not look like anyone important at 5'3 and 130 lbs...but I do have a degree in architectural design.... All the stupid ratings (good or bad) over a Trump sign are ridiculous. Their political beliefs have nothing to do with servicing customers. That they are rude on the phone and in person...and it would seem either not very bright or just uninterested in helping a customer...IS important. I have been in many times over many years. I have never had a good experience. This was the last straw for me. I will not do business with them again. I almost forgot. They previously ordered a sample of stone in a color that they did not have and were supposed to call me when it came in. It came in and no one called me. I guess I'm too patient, I gave them about 4 weeks before I called to check and was told it was at the desk. Came to the store, told the same employee that there was a sample that had been ordered for me, it was supposed to be at the desk and gave him the details. He clearly did not understand, went to the back room and looked through their stock samples and told me that they did not have a sample of that rock in that color. I repeated that it was ORDERED for me and supposed to be at the DESK, and sure enough it was literally 2 feet from him. read more

My family runs a small construction business and we have had an account with South Coast for years. Even before Dennis came in. All I can say is they are fantastic. Always have most materials in stock same day or can get them the next day if they don't. Keri and Bonnie are also great. Always so helpful to give us a price quote. Those of you who complained have to understand you are the problem. They are swamped with contractors getting orders and deliveries. Then you weekend warriors come in asking a thousand questions, holding up lines. If Bonnie or Keri get short with you it's probably because you've asked what a call a homeowner question or have asked 20 questions. If you are gonna go up to the counter and talk for 30 minutes come back when it's not peak time. Or on the weekend with all the other homeowners. Dennis has been a great for us. Always gives us shirts and other apparel. He can be a little harsh sometimes, but he always gets the job done. He's even comp'd us some deliveries before. Overall, I highly recommend them. Just use common courtesy when asking questions and dealing with anyone working at the front counter. They are very busy and I'm sure as much as they would love to help you find a stone that matches your eyes they are too busy. read more

Their yard Is quite big with a good size parking area leading to the front door. They also have their own delivery trucks where I am sure they are very capable of delivering your order to the jobsite. The yard employees along with the front desk worker is very professional. They will answer any questions you have in regards to their products, and is eager to help at your request. I highly recommend South Coast Supply to your masonry needs. We ordered a large supply of rocks, stones, decomposed granite, stepping stones & had everything delivered to the house. It was all a pretty painless process and the people that spoke & dealt with The Huz couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The lawn is an ongoing process & we will not hesitate to come to this location if the need arises. Remember, kindness is a two-way street. Friendly service but beware - SHADY pricing practices! Their items do not have price tags so that should be a yellow flag. Do your research and get a quote in writing. I'm making a DIY patio with stepping stones/pea pebbles and priced all the supplies I needed in person with a guy at the counter. I wrote everything down on my comparison chart while researching other supply places. At the time (Feb '20), their prices were in-line with competitors and we decided to purchase from them as they are local. When I came back a few weeks later to purchase a few things for that project, I noticed the stepping stones were more than I was quoted. I told the guy the figures I was quoted and all the prices went up! He asked if I had a written quote & I did not, as I didn't think I'd need to question their pricing within a month. He mumbled, "manufacturers can change pricing at the end of the month". What?? If their inventory is in stock and already paid for, how can pricing fluctuate for no reason? And ALL the different manufacturers whose products I was purchasing do this?? Didn't sound right. Nail in the coffin was went I went to a big chain store the next day and the landscape border I was sheisted for at $40 was only $17. I returned it and will NOT be doing business with these crooks. If it matters, I am a woman and went solo both times with my toddler. Wound up giving my business to a competitor in Torrance. When I called them to ask if their prices changed, he laughed and said no, he never heard of manufacturers doing that. The other guys were friendly AND only charged $60 delivery. read more

I went here with cash in pocket to buy a Big Green Egg komodo grill because they were the closest dealer. I had my two children with me (age 10 and 6). We walked in and started looking at the different models and accessories. After about 10 minutes of being ignored, my little one started getting restless. I approached the counter where three people were working and told them I had some questions about the grill. The man snapped at me and said, "I'll be right with you!" in a very dickish tone. We waited for a few more minutes without being acknowledged before leaving very disappointed. Took 15 minutes to get someone to help me.The boulders I wanted were difficult for the guy to get too. He hemmed and hawed about it saying it would take too long. Finally we went to see cashier Luis. Agreed that because they were going to close we would mark the boulders and they would weigh when they openEd the next week. They didn't call. Took a few phone calls but they finally weighed them. Told to wait by pallets someone would come and help me. Waited 10 minutes. Go inside where there are four workers standing around shooting the breeze. Ask if I had misunderstood that someone would help me. Told worker is with a customer and just wait. Asked how long. They didn't know. I got there early on a Saturday morning to beat the crowds. Dennis (I think he was the owner or manager) helped me with the order. Really cool guy. He showed me a couple new grills that just came in, and gave me a t-shirt before I left. They loaded the truck for me & I was out of there. This company may have great prices but they have horrible customer service and the owners do not care when they make mistakes. My client ordered nearly $3000 in material from them and set up a delivery between 9 and 10am for which they were over 30min late. They started to dump the material when I realized it was the wrong material and told the driver to stop. I had to shovel the material back into the truck. The driver left and came back over 3 hours later with the correct stuff. We asked him when he was done to bring more dirt to which he said he would be back asap. He never showed after taking payment for the addition material and their office called 5min before they closed to say see you tomorrow. The next day they were 15 min late so I called to see where the driver was. I was cussed out but the owner and his wife for calling to lodge a complaint about their service. All the while I was being cussed out the owner kept telling my how great his service was. Funny thing to say when your cussing your customers out for a mistake you made that cost my client over $600 to fix. After I told him I was calling the credit card company to file a charge back he called my client and told him I was the one cussing and that they wouldn't deliver unless I left the job site because he was afraid of me. So being the bigger person I am I left so my client could get the material he paid for. I had shopping to do anyway so it wasn't a big deal to me. Bottom line is the company has good prices but horrible customer service. They care nothing about their customers. I would recommend you get tour material elsewhere. I have been in and around construction for over 20 years and never been disrespected this badly. read more

I went in here because my wife wanted to price ledger stone for a big remodel. My wife waited in line for roughly 25 minutes ( only one woman working here) when her turn finally came up and asked the question regarding the stone pricing the employee had no clue and said they couldn't get any more anyway but said she would summon a sales person..a big lie and another long wait. After 15 more minutes we gave up and left very dissatisfied with the service and the rudeness of the woman working the counter. I brought in a piece of Flagstone to see if they could match it or come close. She seemed put out that I was even there. No help whatsoever. Very rude. I went to this location twice in one week. I thought maybe she was just having a bad day the first time I went in but, she was ever ruder the second time I came in. I make it a point to be very polite when I enter any kind of retail store. I was the only customer in the facility both time I went in. All I wanted to do was spend $2,000.00 on stone. Maybe I was just to small of a fish for them. I will shop elsewhere.
