I called and spoke with Pablo about doing a job in our backyard that involved a raised planter area, putting in a dripline, and some hardscaping improvements. Even though Pablo seemed nice when I spoke with him, the guy who showed up to give us a quote seemed uninterested, asked no questions, and was very quick. He left telling us we would have a quote in a few days. After a week or so, I texted Pablo to get a status on how the quote was going and he never responded. Pablo, if you don't want the job or you need more time, just let us know. We can work with that. But to totally ignore us is just plain rude. We just had our backyard remodeled by P and G Builders and are very satisfied, and highly recommend them. The landscaping was the larger part of a full backyard rehab, which was meant to make the yard easier for us to manage in the future. Our yard is fairly small but this project was labor intensive, and comprehensive. It included removal of lots of clay soil and dead plants/lawn, a new sprinkler system, construction of a low gravity wall and building a long set of concrete stairs along with a short flight on our slope, creating planters and a short concrete retaining curb around our pond, bringing in new soil and mulch, installing sod and gravel walkways. We started with a basic drawing from a yard designer we had contract with (for drawing service only). Pablo and his crew used that as a guide, and added functional and creative details, and chose a nice palette of plants in our color scheme. All the crew worked diligently and it was quite apparent they all knew what they were doing. We don't usually release design to others :) but this time we let "them have their head", and we are glad we did, as and he and his crew made suggestions that enhanced the project. (The curb around the pond is stunning and adds a great design feature to the yard.) Once they started, they continued work and completed our project in 10 working days over a 2 1/2 half week period (which took in a couple days off over Thanksgiving holiday) and pricing was reasonable. Long story short: a year ago this week I hired someone with good ratings from Yelp to install new sod. He did a horrendous job, I hated the grass he recommended (st. Augustine). We paid good money for it, not only did the installation was incorrect and lazy, he didn't put enough sprinklers so some parts of the grass died. Horrible horrible experience and a total waste of money. I hated the grass so much I was willing to pay all over again to get new sod a year later. I did some research and read an article that had recommended a few local landscaping company and PG Builders was one of them. Looked up reviews, looks good so I called Pablo and he came out the next day to check out my grass. I got a quote on the same day. I contracted with him right away because I just had a good feeling about it and he was always so quick to reply to me. That's exactly how great customer service should be. Pablo recommended a few new sprinklers to cover the entire yard. He told me they can start in two weeks and that's exactly what happened. Pablo and his guys showed up on a Saturday at 7:30am and worked the entire day to get rid of the old grass and prepare the dirt for new sod Installation. The following Tuesday they came back to install the sod. Obviously I know better now the correct process for sod installation which they did 100%. They took the time to do it correctly. The grass looks amazing...it honestly looks like fake grass because it's so beautiful. I couldn't be happier. I found PG Builders by accident and it was the best decision to hire them. I had a huge problem with erosion due to a steep bank behind my pool. Every time it rained or the sprinklers were on I got water and mud into my pool. PGB put in a gorgeous wall that was stucco and brick topped with a cement culvert on the backside with drains. They also replaced all of the plants. This was a three week project and they finished on time without cost additions. Friends have come over and said it looks like an estate property only seen in magazines. Unless you want to pay double to triple what was originally quoted, DON'T use this company. I had a signed contract with this company, the owner, Pablo, was initially very responsive. First he didn't start at the time originally agreed upon. Then, 2 weeks later, out of the blue, he sent a new contract with a note that he had had to increase some items. Note, the job had not changed and the contract had been signed a month ago. I know prices have gone up but that should have been built into the original contract as it was signed recently. On reviewing the new contract, some items had TRIPLED AND DOUBLED! When I asked for an explanation he said he had walked the site with his foreman and felt the price needed to be adjusted. WTH? How can a supposed expert in the field not quote a job appropriately? Pablo refused to honor the original quote, leaving me in the lurch and behind on schedule.
