Unfortunately, I would not recommend Thunder Masonry for the reasons listed below. The first issue was communication. We asked Victor (the owner) several questions via text message regarding the job and he never answered all the questions. It took several texts to get the all the answer we needed and in some cases he never responded at all. His crew showed up the first day went straight into our backyard without introducing themselves. His crew also could not communicate at all. It is obviously totally fine to have Spanish speaking workers but someone at the job sight needs to be able to communicate. We were trying to get clarity on a few things and they just shook their heads. The second issue was the lack of being punctual. The first day the crew was over an hour late to start working. The second day, Saturday the crew never showed up even though we were told they would be there. We weren't contacted by Victor until 230PM to let us know why or try to explain. We wasted the whole day waiting for them to show. Victor stated he was out of town and had no service. However, he also said he told his crew to let it dry another day. So Victor was able to contact his crew but not us, the customer. Then on the third day the crew was supposed to show up at 830AM to complete the job and again they showed up at 11AM. When we are informed of a start time we expect the crew to be there. The final product was good but because of the lack of consistent communications and being late or not showing up we could not and would not recommend Thunder Masonry. Jim & Julie W. read more

We were referred to Victor from another contractor we had working on our property. Victor and his crew were the best. Our project was a little more involved as we had a large sitting wall, multiple planters, stucco plaster etc. Victor and his crew did the best job and I am a hands-on type person so I supervised all the work myself. They were very accommodating on all work and did the best job. I would definitely hire them again for any project I would have. I've never had a contractor who actually finished the job before the expected time - Impressive!! His crew showed up everyday, worked long days and produced beautiful work. Yesterday they completed the job to pour a new concrete patio, install limestone, build mow strips, remove palms, plant a tree and lay marathon sod. Victor was referred to us by our real estate agent whose neighbors have used Thunder Masonry for a number of different projects. I can't say enough about what a great company this is. We needed to replace the old stamped and painted concrete patio and walkways in our backyard as well as a DG fire pit area. Victor explained different options and the pros and cons of each. We ended up going with pavers as well as a DG pad for our trailer and couldn't be more happy with how it all turned out. He and his crew showed up promptly at 7am each day, worked hard and completed the job in the amount of time he committed to (2 weeks to do demo and install, 1500 sq ft of pavers plus a 14x14 ft DG pad). His crew was so polite and always cleaned up each day. And Victor is such a nice man and ensured all the little details of the project were just right, always checking in to explain what they planned to do and make sure it was want I was expecting. Our son is disabled and uses a wheelchair and Victor even designed a ramp from the sliding door to the patio and now our son can access the backyard easily and without help. We had a small paver project (about 170 sq ft) to extend the width of our driveway and were having a hard time finding a contractor that would work on such a small project and/or anything under $5000 (or more). After searching Yelp and a couple contractor sites and talking to a number of contractors we decided to go with Victor at Thunder Masonry as he was willing to take on our little project. The project actually included 2 parts, the driveway pavers and moving/redoing a retaining wall. My wife and I decided to do the retaining wall part because we actually enjoy the exercise and getting our hands dirty... But we could not do the retaining wall until the paver project was completed. Once we decided to go with Victor, he then let us know he had an opening in his schedule and could start the next day (thanks to a delay in another project he was working on). We took him up on this challenge even though we weren't quite ready (we were still removing the old retaining wall), and while we had to work through a few design details, Victor was pleasant and offered good recommendations along the way. His team had to deal with drain pipes, irrigation lines, landscape lighting wires and a boulder move as part of the pavers project area. In addition he also had to deal with a particular paver we chose that was only available at Lowes (requiring him to make a special trip). A couple good decisions along the way was his offer to set our first row of retaining wall blocks in concrete to act as the reinforcement for the pavers. Another was to demo some old flagstone in the walkway that would have butted up to the pavers, and replaced with concrete for a nicer look. And what seemed to be more than 2 days work (especially when we were in the middle of everything being torn up, was actually finish by end of the second day. So while there was some uncertainty along the way due to the fast pace and changing ideas, we managed through this and are extremely pleased with the results! Victor and his crew came and removed the old wall and properly constructed a new and wall with all of the details that I wanted. In addition, they also replaced the concrete and brick patio in our backyard with pavers and new foundations for our patio cover. Oscar and his crew are simply amazing. He has done to date thousands of square feet of pavers for us. We did our project in phases and every single time, they were professional, cleaned up at the end of everyday, did a fantastic job and were so nice. Oscar is such a nice guy and really knows his stuff. We were so impressed with the job he did on our paver project that we had him do turf for us. We already had turf and a previous contractor had done such an awful job. Oscar came in and adjusted where needed and put down new turf. It looks great now. This is a company that will leave unfinished work if they've already been paid for it ahead of time. I will say that they worked quickly (the 95% they did finish) and at a competitive price. But better to pay a little more to someone with integrity who takes pride in their work. Hire them at your own risk and pray that you won't need any after-sales service. read more

I hired Victor and his crew to lay about 600 sq feet of pavers in curves and circles, build 2 big stone planters one 12' wide and the other 8', raise a 50' wall by about 15" (2 courses), and pour 40 feet of curved concrete edging. He and his crew got to my place on time every day, worked straight through with no down days, the quality of their work was outstanding, they got the pavers I wanted (Orco Tuscany Mediterranean), laid down the right thickness of aggregate and sand, used a compactor, locked it all together with a border of Holland bricks set in concrete with rebar, and finished with polymeric sand. Victor never tried to upsell me, he was easy to contact, and I never wondered where his guys were or what was going on. They were usually in my yard working by the time I got up every day. I got 5 bids, Victor's was one up from the lowest, $4000 less than one of the big names. I wound up getting exactly what I wanted with great quality of workmanship and attention to detail. Plus they left the place nice and clean when they were all done. I'd strongly recommend them to anybody who needs pavers or masonry work done, wants top quality, but is on a budget. You pretty much get the best of everything. read more
