Thank god for Yelp! I use the maps a lot when we r driving toward a city so we can find a good place to eat. This was just about a mile from 90. So we gotta get back on. Our waitress was great. Funny she asked me what I smelled like. It seemed familiar to her. And it was! Soap n Glory original scented lotion ... too funny. We had a good giggle!! it's a little house made Into a cafe. just the kinda place we like. Very homey and everyone friendly. I saw they had homemade sausage so I wanted something with that! Boy had chicken n biscuits. We got our plates and owner forgot that I wanted homemade sausage and got 3 links. But they were good too. So I'm getting my sausage on the side ... all alone and lonely...lol. I just had to put a little salt on the patty.. it wa delish. Hardly any fat. So we will bookmark this place for future.

Don't let the looks of this place fool you. The food was excellent and Anita and Faye are a hoot. We felt like we were at a family reunion. My husband and I both got the Jackson Hole burger with the onions grilled. It was a HUGE 1/2 lb burger and super juicy and delicious. It comes with macaroni salad. Thanks ladies, everything was great! Ray Charles would have loved it too!

Visiting the area for the weekend and found this charming place on a whim. The owner/cook is wonderful and friendly and so funny. Very talkative but we don't mind as it made it even better. There is no menu, food list is on paper all over the restaurant which makes it different but in a good way. All food is made to order (except the desserts of course) and portions are a good size and the prices are reasonable. Will be going back again when we are in the area and it's nice to go to a place and not feel like another customer but apart of the community. BTW: we are from FL and have yet to find a place here in NY that does biscuits and gravy the correct southern way, until now. The Biscuits and Gravy was on point, just like my parents use to make and the sausage is made there which is even better!!!

So that happened…read more About to sit down for our second meal in two nights at The Nest/Schenectady (not the subject of this review). Why? Why would we drive 20 minutes in the rain and fog on St Patrick's and not eat at the lobby restaurant (this restaurant) where we were guests for two nights? Why walk out on our reservation? The reservation made with the front desk? Incompetence. Disrespect. Complete inability to remedy multiple screw ups. We were taken to our table with a cute little reserved placard on it. Unnecessary, but ok. There were three tables dining. Of dozens. As in the place was completely empty. Tables everywhere. Ours? Right next to the point-of-sale system against the bar. We asked to move. A dozen tables were available away from the bar. As it turns out, the significantly warmer side of the venue. Nope. The gentleman states that we can only sit on the kitchen entrance side close to the main door. In an empty restaurant. We sat there for about two minutes before it was clear we'd be cold from the main door draft and even more frustrated by the loud yelling in the kitchen. The ice crunching from the bartender was the only thing that made it comical. Seriously, within two minutes my neck was stiff from the cold at the second table. My wife's feet, in boots, we're getting chilled. I'd be furious if this wasn't a first world thing. It is a first world thing. But if you're looking for a nice dining experience in an empty restaurant and the staff wants to sit your reservation made, suite (just a bigger room) staying butt in front of the kitchen or POS system rather than accept that the guest isn't satisfied with the hospitality... As I said, we left. We won't be back. At least I got a nice text letting me know they canceled our reservation.

I've been coming to Raindancer for years and I honestly can't remember ever having a bad meal here. It's one of those dependable restaurants where you know you're going to leave happy. Back before COVID they had a legendary salad bar and I REALLY wish they would bring it back. I'm not even a huge salad person and I still looked forward to it every time I came here. It was fresh, loaded with options, and honestly one of the best restaurant salad bars around. Raindancer, if you're reading this, bring back the salad bar!!! The ribs here are excellent. Always tender, flavorful, and they give you a very good sized portion. I've brought several friends here over the years and everyone has always enjoyed their meals. The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to it that fits the atmosphere perfectly. The food is consistently great and the staff has always been friendly and attentive whenever I've visited. Small negative is there are no free refills on soft drinks. I believe it's always been the case here atleast as far back as I can recall. For me it should be a big deal because I live sodas it's an integral part of my dinner. But yet i like it here a lot so I forgive it. That says something. Keeping my soda filled is one was I rate servers. If they do it without me asking they are ontop of their game to me. But Ike I said that's not applicable here. Just keep it in mind. But for me, the crown jewel here is the chocolate mousse pie. It is fantastic. Light, fluffy, rich without being too heavy, topped with whipped cream and little chocolate morsels. It's absolute heaven. They also have a peanut butter mousse pie that I keep telling myself I'm going to try someday, but every time I come here I can't bring myself to pass on the chocolate mousse pie. Maybe one day... although probably not. It's just too good. They have a take out window. Sometimes if I'm in the area I quickly pick some up for desert. It's so worth it.

Pros: very friendly staff Cons: this is an old restaurant…read moreand it feels tired. Matted carpet, sticky floors, old decor. It does look like they may have tried to spruce it up at some point but not well. Prices are up there, and the food inconsistent. I had the French onion soup and it was delicious, I followed that with the copped chicken salad and it was awful. Cold pre frozen chicken and absolutely no taste whatsoever to the salad base. Even slapping on salad dressing didn't help. We also ordered the prime rib, now this dish came out perfectly, hot and just as described. It had great flavor. The drinks, soda and ice tea were a ridiculous price, nearly $4 each with no refills. All in all a disappointing meal for almost $100 and nope, no return visit, I believe they are just resting in their laurels of past days.

The menu was small (usually means they focus on doing less things well, rather than many things mediocre). Beer selection was decent. I ordered the "Hot Honey Chicken Tacos." Was I wrong to expect the chicken to be tossed in hot honey rather than hot honey just drizzled over the fried chicken tacos? I was disappointed when I got what was set in front of me. Also, you're going to give me a mess of hot honey all over these fried chicken tacos and not have wet wipes?? My hands were like little kid sticky afterwards. The other two in our party of 3 had sandwiches. One got fries with their meal. The other got tater tots. The sandwiches came out without the sides. The fries shortly afterwards, but like 10 minutes later the tater tots finally came out after we spoke to the very nice waitress. I guess I don't understand why we can't send out complete meals with any kind of coordination. All in all the atmosphere was good. The waitstaff was nice. The drinks were good. The food was ok but overall it wasn't mind blowing. Oh! And I'm so glad I didn't have to drive or find parking because that was a hot mess in an of itself. You should go try it. You might have a better experience. I guess I expected more.

I still really like this place, but the service was way off on this particular day, even though they were not busy. We ordered three Road House Burgers, two with sweet potatoes fries, and one with regular fries. We were only served one burger w/ sweet potato fries, but we were charged $3 extra for each burger! And one burger was missing bacon. The amount of blue cheese crumbles and caramelized onions was minuscule. The burger patties themselves are unseasoned, so the toppings are key. Overall, it's a decent burger and I like their fries, but it's hard to overlook the mistakes with our ordering, especially when we were overcharged because of it.
