This was my first time and all I'd heard from people was that it was expensive. I wanted to try the New England Clam Chowder BUT I had clam chowder on Cape Cod. That is a tough act to follow. The Caprese Sandwich sounded really good. I spent a long time trying to decide what went with Sourdough Bread. We lived in San Jose and went to the other coast, so I've never had San Francisco sourdough bread. I ordered the clam chowder and the Caprese Sandwich sounded. I wanted a 4 inch sandwich but they only had 6 and 8 inch sizes of that certain sandwich. Those two and iced tea gave me a total just under $30. Gaaaahhhhh! It's 2025 and after the pandemic but I'm still adjusting. I went to sit and noticed a dirty table and a mess on the floor. I sat at the next table and hoped that they cleaned it. After a while, they brought the food to me. The clam chowder was good and there was plenty of meat. Usually, restaurants cheapen the mix with loads of potatoes and a hint of clam. The Caprese Sandwich was also very good. I don't realize that it was supposed to come with mozzarella, and I should not have asked for provolone. (If you know all the places in Philly or Jersey where I got sandwiches, you'll know I have some experience.) Since I didn't want that much sandwich, I couldn't eat it all, and walking, I didn't take the remainder with me. The staff was friendly but I could not hear them half the time. I used to go to Togos all the time, but got tired of their produce and sandwiches; even though I enjoy it for a quick stop sourdough and Co. has become my new favorite. This location was fantastic, their service is very quick and the staff is very attentive and kind. Clam chowder in a bread bowl was delicious. Ordered to go and I got there late. By the time I got home, I thought I would need to reheat the soup but it was still hot. The bread bowl wasn't too hard on the outside and the inside was hollowed well. The entire soup didn't fill up the bowl. I got to tear the bowl and dip in the cup of soup. The flat bread is disappointing. I got their mushroom flat bread which was good but the serving portion was small. The box it came in was very deceiving. They should make the box smaller to reflect the portion size. Service was quick and didn't have to wait long to have my order handed to me. read more

Visited here on a Thursday at 1030 and the place was empty. There are about seven tables on the inside. The decor is much nicer than your average sandwich shop. I ordered the cracked pepper turkey combo, which was $15.54. This price point was for a 6" sandwich, fountain drink and a bag of chips. I thought this was reasonable compared to their competitors in today's expensive economy. I've paid the same price and more just for a similar sandwich. The employee behind the counter was nice and professional. After ordering and choosing my table, my sandwich was ready in about five minutes and brought to my table. The sandwich tasted very good. Gift Card Scam!! Tried using a gift card i purchased two years ago and was denied. Somehow, the card "expired" and was no longer of any value. I thought gift cards were not allowed to expire by law, but apparently they can charge a fee if the card is inactive for more than a year. The staff working on Saturday afternoons need some serious training on how to use an oven. I placed my order and while I waited an alarm was going off for oven and nobody thought it was important until someone came from back shut it off and pulled all the burnt bread out and tossed in the trash. My kids Mac & cheese was burnt and looked few days old they didn't eat it. My sandwich was ok but they even burnt the chocolate chip cookies we got. Please manager step up and train your employees. Had lunch here for the first time and I was not disappointed. As the name implies, they specialize in sandwiches with sourdough bread. They a good variety of sandwiches and a few soups that you can choose from as well. I'd say these guys are following the trend of providing higher quality sandwiches in a nicer setting than say your average Subway or Quiznos; it's a good half step above them in my book. I still appreciate Subway from time to time BTW. I ordered the 6" French dip. It had roast beef with Swiss cheese, a seasoned mayo and came with a cup of au jus for dipping. Didn't blow my mind or anything but it was well built sandwich with pretty decent flavor. As for the service, the staff were pleasant and worked very fast. Although I was there for the lunch rush I did not have to wait more than 7-10 minutes for my food. I will definitely go back to try their other sandwiches and soups. First visit and we were pretty happy. We ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was good, but the sandwiches is where it's at! The bread had a good flavor and was chewy but what you would expect from a sourdough (your ingredients will squish out a little as you try to bite through) meat and veggies were good quality and then you get to the "mayo" which isn't really like regular white mayo, but is flavorful and AMAZING! This is another one of our go to spots while visiting GWL!! The sandwiches here are FAR BETTER than any other sandwich place we've been too. This trip my daughter and I got the French dip special as we had it on our last visit a year ago and remembered it was SOOOO DELICIOUS!! My son got a ham sandwich and added bacon, while my husband got the brisket. The brisket had a spicy coleslaw which my husband asked to put on the side just incase it was tooo spicy for him and he said it had the perfect amount of kick.
