I finally tried Sour Little 7!
Their signature dish is the Golden Soup Sauerkraut Basa Fish. Normally, I don't order sour soups (unless it's Thai food), so this was actually my first time trying a Chinese-style sour soup. I ordered the small size, but it was huge! It also comes with unlimited rice refills, which is a nice bonus. The soup wasn't overly sour--it had just the right amount of tanginess. It was packed with tender fish fillets and vegetables, and it turned out to be surprisingly addictive. I can definitely see myself ordering this again and again.
We also ordered the Pork Stir-Fry with Chili Pepper. Since it was our first visit and I wasn't sure how spicy their food would be, I asked for it to be made less spicy. It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite Thai dishes, Pad Kra Pao, but without the basil. It was incredibly flavorful and delicious.
The Mapo Tofu was another winner. I also requested a milder spice level, and the flavor was excellent--rich, savory, and satisfying.
Lastly, we tried the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, which was equally delicious. The beef was tender, and the broth was flavorful and comforting.
Honestly, every dish we ordered was a hit. The portions are very generous too. Except for the noodle soup, all dishes come with unlimited rice refills, while the noodle soup comes with free noodle refills.
Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming. They even have a clean gender-neutral restroom. The staff were extremely friendly and patient in explaining the menu and answering questions.
Don't be intimidated by the menu. The bold Chinese text might seem overwhelming at first, but each item has a small English translation underneath. And if you're unsure about anything, just ask--the staff are more than happy to help.
I'm really glad I finally gave Sour Little 7 a try. My only regret is not trying it sooner! I'll definitely be back. read more
