Since there are multiple locations, we debated between the South Gate and Whittier spots because they're both about the same distance from us in Montebello. For our first visit, I'm really glad we chose this location. The shopping center is huge, so finding parking was easy, even though the area was busy. When we walked in, the restaurant was pretty crowded. All of the booths were occupied, and only a few tables were available, so we waited about five minutes while a staff member cleaned a booth for us. Once seated, we looked over the menu and ordered the egg rolls and garlic truffle fries to start. For our entrées, we chose the ribeye pho and chicken pho. The server was kind enough to offer me a sample of the salted coffee. I had already had coffee earlier in the day, so I didn't order one, but I'm glad I tried it because I'll definitely be getting one next time. Instead, I ordered the cucumber limonade. Overall, we had a great experience. The staff was friendly, attentive, and checked on us throughout our meal. I have been a loyal customer here for a long time, but unfortunately, my experience tonight makes me not want to come back. I believe there were two new staff members working tonight (a man in a black shirt and a woman in a purple shirt LSU ). They completely ignored customers waiting in line and did not even greet or welcome us. We had to find an available table by ourselves. They seemed to have plenty of time to stand around talking to each other, but not enough time to acknowledge customers, clean used tables, or take orders. We waited for quite a while before anyone helped us, even though neither of them appeared busy. It was frustrating to see them chatting while customers were left waiting. What was even more surprising was that one employee, a lady wearing a blue hoodie, seemed to be handling everything by herself--cleaning tables, welcoming customers, and taking orders. She was efficient, professional, and clearly understood how to provide good customer service. We truly appreciate her hard work. Unfortunately, I don't know her name, but she was the only reason our experience wasn't completely negative. What a waste of my time. As soon as you walk in there is a sign that says please wait to be seating. So I waited. The girl behind the counter seen me and pointed to two tables. I arrived late in the night to grab dinner after attending the annual Yelp Elite Awards Night (I won an award btw). I was elated I found a nearby dinner spot from my location. Also, I was baffled that there were local customers still coming in for a late night dinner. They're that popular in area. Interior layout was spacious, neat and vibrant. Staff were welcoming, affable and assiduous. Their pho menu was compendious that customers will surely appreciate. Atmosphere was vibrant. Service was spot on. I got a Garlic parmesan noodle x chicken and Thai Iced Tea. Food was great as well as the drink. Portions were perfect. They have plenty of parking spot because they are in a massive shopping plaza. The soup, however, is what I mainly focus on for pho, and it was super rich, flavorful, aromatic, and tasted authentic. The Pho Chicken was also good. It had a similar tasting broth as the Pho Rib Eye except it was infused with a more chicken-y flavor. The chicken breast was not bad, but I usually prefer a more Hainan style kind of chicken for this dish. The Fried Pork Bao also exceeded my expectations. The breading was fried and had a sweet and crunchy exterior. The meat inside was super savory and tasted really good. I wish I ordered two of them instead of just one. The Shrimp Garlic Noodle was ok. The noodles were not al dente and overcooked. It was kind of bland and could have had more garlic flavor. The shrimp was tasty but kind of dry. This pho place is very delicious. The broth was incredible! Rich and slightly sweet. Wow. I liked the way the restaurant was designed with an open and calming style. I do remember being uncomfortable on the bench thought. There's a padding that doesn't extend to the from the bench and I kept feeling like I was sliding off. I was constantly readjusting myself. The menu was beautiful! I wished the drinks looked like the photos though. I ordered a jasmine milk yeah looked pink, in the photo, but when I received it was in a different glass and was white (nothing like the photo!) with that said, I let it slide because the jasmine milk teas was DELICIOUS!!! I was impressed at how my order was served in less than 10 minutes! I ordered the shrimp pho with veggie broth, which tasted so fresh. The shrimp portion was generous and were bigger than the average shrimps in pho shops. I was a little nervous to taste the broth since veggie broth can be easily made bland, but there was a good amount of seasoning that it was a tasty broth.
