Best time to go is before 1130 or after 1230 as it gets very busy. I often get the turkey wrap which is good. Their soups are also good, they have a few to choose from. It's a small area not a lot of sitting room and is pretty busy during peak hours so can get crowded and loud. It is a good place to grab take out. I visit often and will continue to. read more

A solid and speedy place, Soup R Salad is one of my go-to places to get a good lunch downtown. Their salad portions are generous- when I get the small it still fills most of a large clamshell container. The sandwiches are basic but simple but filling, and their soups are always flavorful- when they said a chowder had spicey heat it genuinely delivered. My go-to is the Southwest Chicken Salad, which is a bed of romaine, corn, beans, chicken, shredded cheese, and dressing which has a little kick. Their specials are good too- my co-workers rave about the meatloaf and lasagna! They had fried perch fish for lunch on Fridays during Lent, and I loooove perch, a fish I don't see on menus often. The staff is a well oiled machine, getting a long line in and out with ease. To make it even faster you can call ahead though. There are sit-down options once you've gotten your food, with a handful of tables inside, and in the nice weather they set up two tables under the front awning. A small place on the corner with a bright green awning, this little restaurant packs a lot more into it than it would seem. Parking is typical downtown parking so plan ahead a bit, but there are street spots on the storefront, one-way road. The line starts in the back, and the menu is simple. Salads, soups, and sandwiches with daily specials added in. Bottled/canned beverages available from the cooler by the cashier. Service is amazing and you can tell they know the regulars. Pricing is completely reasonable and perfect for an inexpensive yet comforting and filling lunch out. Seating is first come, first serve and limited so plan to take it to go if you can't snag a table. We were doing a quick stop after some travel so we shared a garden salad and each got a soup. The two large soups and large salad were a perfect option for a moderate appetite to share for a light but filling lunch. The clam chowder was awesome, just the right amount of chunky and broth. I got a bit of grit with it which leads me to believe fresh ingredients were used lol. It was worth it. The tomato soup was also delicious and creamy and perfect for the cold day. The salad was exactly what we needed- fresh, light, crunchy and not fussy. The balsalmic dressing was wonderful and completely balanced. The inside is a bit crowded between the line and the tables but if we lived a bit closer this would be a weekly stop without a doubt. I was expecting more ingredients considering they specialize in salads. The chicken and homemade pita strips were flavorful. I enjoyed the dressing as well. I tried a small cup of potato chowder. I've been there multiple times and the place is clean, the staff recognizes regulars and the food is really good. I had a mulligatawny soup that was delicious and their deli sandwiches are very good. They have daily soup and salad specials as well as an entree special. I seem to end up there on the chicken & biscuits days, which I haven't tried, but judging by how many orders I see go out, are a very popular item.
