Soup Dumpling Plus did NOT disappoint. Super homey, authentic vibe, quick service, and everything came out piping hot. The crab & pork soup dumplings stole the show -- 9.5/10. Juicy, rich, flavorful... I'd come back for those alone. Pork soup dumplings 8.2/10, roast pork fried rice 8.7/10, beef & broccoli 8.5/10, and pan-fried dumplings 7.5/10. Overall: 9/10. Came hungry, left happy, already thinking about those crab & pork dumplings.
Came here on a Friday night and only waited about 5-10 minutes before being seated! We were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was and left feeling very satisfied. The soup dumplings were delicious, juicy, and definitely worth ordering. The jellyfish appetizer was another pleasant surprise! It was served nice and cold with that satisfying crunchy snap with every bite. So refreshing! But the absolute highlights of the meal were the Kung Pao Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup! The Kung Pao Chicken was packed with flavor, with a delicious savory, spicy sauce, tender chicken, and crunchy peanuts. The Hot and Sour Soup was equally satisfying, with the perfect balance of tanginess and spice. We also ordered the fried rice, udon, and sautéed bok choy, which rounded out the meal nicely. Everything made for a great family-style feast!
Always enjoy going here, the food is always really good, the staff is attentive but it tends to get busy. Probably the best soup dumplings in the area!
I had been to Soup Dumpling Plus previously but hadn't reviewed it. In the interim, my family had started dining at a competitor when the mood struck for Chinese food. (Every few months) My wife saw Soup Dumpling Plus and wanted to give it a try. We brought our daughter at around 6 pm on a Saturday and were seated after about a 20 minute wait. The restaurant is very popular, we got a comfortable booth, and the professional staff got right to work. During our wait, we had selected our choices on a paper, and upon seating gave the paper to the waitress. Soon thereafter, the food started landing. Obviously we spent dinner comparing every dish to the competitor. I would be splitting hairs to say there's much of a difference on many of the dishes. Pork buns and soup dumplings were both excellent. The vegetable fried rice was subtle and nicely prepared. I enjoyed the pork with celery and five spiced tofu entree, our daughter enjoyed the sesame chicken, and my wife liked the chicken with udon noodles. The only somewhat "miss" for us was the cucumber salad. Certainly not bad but the pieces were a bit large and that limited the flavor. Glad we gave it a try and we understand why it's very popular!
Considering the price, quality, and quanity, this resturant is one of the best soup dumpling restaurants in the area. It was pretty busy, and ordering off of a sheet made everything go faster. The soup dumplings had so much hot soup inside which is the best part of a dumpling. Even the pan fried ones were juicy and comforting. The udon with the chicken, mushroom, and bok choi with a touch of garlic was really tasty. The scallion pancake was made of crispy, light, addicting layers, and the green beans had a nice flavor and went well with the beef. Overall a nice place to take your family, for a good price as well.
- Parking is available in the downstairs lot for Fort Lee Plaza customers - We were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait when we arrived around 5:40p on a Saturday; there was plenty of seating available and the dining room felt clean, spacious, and comfortable, with tables spaced far enough apart for a relaxed meal - Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit - The food was average overall, with a mix of hits and misses: the crab meat soup dumplings were filled with rich, flavorful broth, but the filling itself had a mushy texture; the crispy noodles with chicken came with an overwhelming amount of sauce and very few noodles, which quickly became soggy; the biggest disappointment was the cold jellyfish--it was bland and didn't taste particularly fresh; the standout dish was the beef with string beans, which had excellent flavor, tender beef, and perfectly cooked string beans
Soup dumplings always solid 5/5 Spring rolls basic 3/5 Shrimp lo mein good 4/5 Beef pan fried noodles soupy & bland 1/5 Pork w scallions ok 3/5 I don't know, overall it was OK nothing memorable. still the place is always packed so they must be doing something right
Is it possible/likely I have anything to say that hasn't been said? Nope. But still here to pile on. Soup Dumpling Plus is a gem. Great food served at mind-numbing speed in cozy surroundings. Food highlights? Everything- but a brief rundown: Chicken with Peanuts - life changing Scallion Pancake - don't sleep on this one Pan Fried Pork Dumpling - this is why you come here! Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling - this is why you come back!! Hot and Sour Soup - best version of this I've ever had Veggie Fried Rice - fantastic Sesame Chicken - need something to-go I've come here at lunch time a few times. Sometimes you have to wait. Sometimes you'll be seating right away. (I've heard dinner and on weekends your best bet is to come early or late). The service is fast and attentive. This is an easy 5/5 for me.
Finding the restaurant is a bit like a treasure hunt. Outdoor signage is limited, and there's no access door directly from the outside. Instead, you have to come inside a larger complex and turn right into two dark hallways before the space opens up to this nearly hidden restaurant space. Inside, the tables are fairly packed in, so when my husband and I came at peak lunch time on a Saturday, nearly every table was occupied with customers. When the space is full, the energy is lively without feeling frenetic. That's largely thanks to the efficiency of the servers here. Unlike most other restaurants, there isn't any one server assigned to a table, so there was always someone around to help if ever we needed something. It also seemed like someone came by with jugs of hot tea and ice water every five minutes, topping off our glasses as soon as we had a few sips. Plates are brought as soon as they're ready, which helps keep the food fresh and - depending on what you've ordered - the meal into more of a course-like affair. Our soup dumplings with pork were the first and fastest to arrive at our table, clocking in at a mere seven minute wait. Since the name strongly hints at their expertise, it's impossible not to order at least a basket. In fact, when you first sit down, they'll place small plates of ginger shreds as matter-of-factly as they put down water glasses because the presumption is that any one dining here is likely to have soup dumplings. I've had xiao long bao at quite a few spots across the city and Queens, and I found these to be excellent. The dumpling skin was on the thinner side without being so thin that the wrappers burst to soup spillage. There wasn't as much soup inside, but the taste was amazing. We loved the soup dumplings, but we might've liked the beef with string beans even better. The string beans were perfectly cooked with a generous amount of tender beef pieces. This was a conversation-halting entree for us as we both silently fought for last pieces. Our pan fried noodles came last, and I've typically found that this dish takes a little longer in most soup dumpling spots. A layer of crispy, deep-fried noodles are placed under a scalding meat sauce, so that it gently 'cooks' and softens at your table. This was a lighter sauce - both in flavor and in the amount of meat. We ordered one with chicken sauce and felt hard pressed to find the meat. That said, the overall dish was delicious and I loved the contrast of crunchy noodles with the hot, silky sauce. This was our first visit after several friends claimed it as one of their top spots for soup dumplings. Having visited, I can definitely see why. Street parking in the area is limited, but there are a few spots right outside. There are also two adjoining underground complexes with a few free spots in each.
I've moved away, but I love coming here in groups. Because everything is shareable, we tend to over order, but we quickly realize that we always have room for more. Soup Dumpling Plus truly reminds me of home and I'm happy to be able to come back to it.
Celebrating our family! Our children are engaged! Got to meet our new family! From out of state!! Delicious food! Great company! Don't accept reservations. Street parking or parking lot available! Feed the meters!
Yes, I will definitely travel to Fort Lee again to eat here. There is a small parking garage that does not fit an SUV with a roof rack. We only waited 5 min on a Sunday at 1pm. By the time we finished there were 15 people outside waiting for a table. My kids might rank this as their favorite restaurant given the fast service. Before they could complain where the food was (usually starts 5 min after ordering), it was being brought out. I don't usually get udon but it was a great choice. Everyone was pleased with the food.

This place is a true gem! Nothing beats their xiao long baos (5/5) and the service is quick and efficient. I first thought that the table we were sitting at was too big but by the time we ordered many dishes it was full. Here are my other ratings per dish. The sweet and sour soup (4/5), garlic string beans (4.5/5), beef stir fry noodles (4.5/5). I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town. read more

Still our go to spot for soup dumplings and side items. Please note: portion sizes are smaller than entree size. This encourages you to order multiple items to get a sampling pack! The restaurant has expanded since opening and offers more seating. Servers are attentive, quick and the restaurant is well staffed. Make sure to order the "soup dumplings", the dish of fame in addition to anything else on the menu! Tip: in house sit down prices are more attractive than delivery. With their quick service, really no reason not to eat in and have it fresh. read more

Came here for lunch with the family and this place was recommended by my sister who comes here frequently. We came relatively early before the lunch rush on a Sunday and still had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We were seated towards the other half of the restaurant and it was relatively quiet and spacious compared to the main dining area. We were really happy to be seated here but if you need something from a waiter, you would have to wait until they came around or go get them yourself. They give you a piece of paper and you mark down what you want to order which is another plus side of this restaurant. We got a bunch of appetizers and entrees and shared everything. The soup dumpling tasted mediocre to me. The soup tasted very light and I felt like the meat lacked a lot of flavor and tasted bland. I definitely had better XLB elsewhere. The cucumber salad was delicious and refreshing. Pan fried dumpling & sticky rice shumai was really good. The scallion pancake was overcooked and it came out to be too crispy/burnt. Some people on the table preferred it that way but it was too much for me. For the entrees we ordered the beef rice cake, beef lo mein and vegetable lo mein. The portions were pretty big but the taste was very standard. The rice cake didn't have the texture I was expecting and it was very hard and chewy. Again, the entrees tasted very bland and lacked flavor. Considering there isn't much XLB restaurants in the area, this place isn't bad. I definitely had better elsewhere and wouldn't trek all the way to Fort Lee just for this. Would only come again if I'm in the area. They must be doing something right cause when we were leaving, there were tons of people waiting and we overheard it was almost a hour wait for a table. read more
I stopped by for dinner last night due to a friend that highly recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. This was my first time trying soup dumplings and it won't be my last. I tried the crab & pork dumplings, the shumai, and the pork fried rice, and it was all fresh, flavorful, and delicious. When I arrived it was pretty empty but it was also raining heavily outside. The rain cleared out during our meal, and the customers started rolling in. By the time I left, there was a line of customers out the door waiting to be seated. Service is quick here so I imagine that the line moves fast but regardless, it's definitely worth the wait. read more

A soup dumpling in my old hood! WOW Fort Lee is stepping up... Probably one of the better Chinese spots for sure! When we arrived it was empty but its usually jam packed. I would recommend to get there early! As usual we ordered a lot of food to try everything family style... By the time I left, there was a line out the door waiting to be seated. "told you" Service was quick parking was easy as well. Its my spot for sure... read more
I saw this place on yelp while in the area for work and made a separate trip back here to try this place because of such good reviews. The soup dumplings are among the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot of soup dumplings all over the world) but the other dishes are rather disappointing. Easy location and easy parking are positives but it just isn't as nice of a "full meal" as other soup dumpling places. Not bad, but not good. read more

So delicious! We took a trip to Jersey and I'm so glad we found this spot. I don't need to say much as the other reviewers have said enough about how delicious it is! They are very busy with inside dining and take out so maybe you'd wait a little while - at least you'll be waiting inside so you won't be outside in the heat or cold. Parking is available underneath the building!!!! From the parking garage Take the elevator up a floor. Don't think about it... just eat here!! read more

My friend who lives local introduced me to this place and soup dumplings in general about 2 years ago. Let's just say I've made the hour drive to eat here 30-40 times since then. My go to order includes the pork soup dumplings, pork buns, bok choy, and sesame chicken. It always hits the spot, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is inexpensive. I want to gate-keep this place, but it's too good not to share with everyone! read more

We have not been there in a bit due to COVID-19, but this place is just so yummy. I went because I saw a TV special about soup dumplings and I just had to try them. The soup dumplings are all the said and more. A bit of a challenge to eat them the first time, but definitely worth the struggle. The pumpkin cakes were delish. Please wait until the cool a bit. The rice cake a simple delicious dish. Needles to say we keep going back. I'm now a pescatarian. There is plenty for me to eat in the menu. read more

"Lots of people waiting outside. Hurry up and pay," the words from the waitress as she dropped off the tab. We were mid-bite in our soup dumplings and couldn't believe our ears. I was embarrassed that my friend drove two hours to see me and I chose to take her here. I understand that they want to accommodate the customers waiting outside, but they also need to allow their seated customers to finish their meal. Especially when we were there for less than an hour and eating at a reasonable pace. For the rushed experience & terrible service, I don't recommend this place to others and personally won't be coming back any longer. Dumpling den will be my spot instead when I'm craving soup dumplings! read more

We gave these folks a try a couple of days ago. The restaurant was busy at lunch time, surely a good sign. Service was transactional, food prep time was excellent, and the flavor was good overall. The sesame chicken with broccoli wasn't drowning in sauce, that was a bonus. The broccoli was steamed perfectly. We bother preferred the Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling over the Crab Meat and Pork Soup Dumplings, but both were solid. The broth seems a bit thin, not as robust a flavor as we had hoped. Our meal came with Sweet and Sour soup, which I passed off to my dining partner because he likes the flavor. I saw too much oil floating on top to want to try it. Parking tip: FREE parking is located on the ground floor of the building. There's no need to pay the meter on the street. read more
