I stopped at one place, and the owner didn't even bother to look at it; he just said it would cost me @ $300. either to have it repaired or to replace it... I wasn't impressed. I took it to Sargent's Stereo, and was absolutely delighted with the level of service and expertise. The owner came right out and took a thorough look at it, asking me questions and troubleshooting the problem. Once he found the cause he explained in detail what was going on, and gave me estimates on sending it off for repair to the manufacturer (which I found would be cost prohibitive), or to replace it with a similar quality new stereo. We looked at and discussed pros and cons of the systems he had in the store, and I found him to be very honest and customer oriented, focusing on my needs. Very helpful and informative. We settled on one he recommended, (after he explained his reasons as to why he thought it the best system for my car compared to others he carried), at a very reasonable cost, which included installation while I waited. I found Sargent's altogether a great experience, very good at what they do and trustworthy. Very reasonable prices and really excellent customer service. Along with so many other Bend residents, I'm sad the Sargents are retiring soon after 35 years of great service, but he tells me he is leaving the business in good hands, to a long time employee who thinks just like he does, and who will provide the same level of top products and service for many years to come. I dropped off my truck on 3/2/2026 for a new stereo installation after explaining the week prior…read morethat my old stereo was cutting out and draining the battery. I was told to just drop it off on 3/2--no specific time was given. When I arrived at 9:30 AM, George didn't know who I was and said he had marked me as a no-show. That should have been my first red flag. I left my truck anyway and was told I'd get a text when it was ready. By 3 PM, I hadn't heard anything, so I called--only to find out it had already been done and no one bothered to notify me. When I picked it up, I was told the dashboard piece we had discussed the week before wasn't ordered and would take about a week. Two weeks later, I had to call again, and once again George had no idea what I was talking about--though somehow the part was there. I scheduled another appointment, and the same thing happened: no call or text when it was ready. We had to stop by, and my truck was just sitting in the lot. To make things worse, the stereo is still having the same issue--music cuts out randomly. I stopped in again on 4/3 and scheduled a follow-up for 4/9, but needed to reschedule. When I called, George again didn't know why I was coming in, put me on hold saying he was "under a car," and never returned to the phone call. I waited nearly 10 minutes before having to hang up and go back to work. I followed up with a text and never got a response. At this point, I'm done. The communication is terrible, the issue was never fixed, and I've had to make multiple trips for something that should have been handled correctly the first time. I just wanted a working stereo--not this level of hassle. I'll be taking my truck somewhere else.

I went to get it the next day after they said I needed to leave it with them rather than just wait for them to mount it. ?? Went to pick up.. after paying an additional 20 to balance it I noticed that the weights they used were incorrect for my wheel. They swore up and down that I was wrong and the weights were "the right ones". Well, I paid and left only later realize they had marred my rim with the incorrect weights by pounding them on!! I don't know about anybody else but this is exactly what I was looking to avoid! By the way... a tire changer is only $50 at eBay... I recommend! Disappointed... hope they see this and refund me...
