Instead, I immediately noticed that she was watching me closely. As I continued browsing, I felt that I was being followed and monitored throughout the store. At one point, two other employees came near me while I was shopping and appeared to be talking and whispering to each other. I also noticed that other customers were shopping without receiving the same level of attention that I was receiving. This made me increasingly uncomfortable and gave me the impression that I was being singled out. When I went to look at a pair of heels, an employee approached from behind me. After I touched the shoes I was interested in, her demeanor made me feel unwelcome. I ultimately put the shoes back because I no longer felt comfortable making a purchase. As I left the store, I felt that the employees were continuing to watch me. I am American Latina, and while I cannot know what the employees intended, the difference in how I felt I was treated compared with other customers made me feel that I was being treated differently because of my Hispanic/Latina background. I have never experienced this type of treatment at the Riverhead Outlets before, which is why this experience was especially upsetting.

I'm removing all of my business from this place and I really hope this is one of the locations that does go out of business because it's a liability for anyone to rely on them for their medicine.
