I purchased a complete car play system for my Hummer H2, including radio, back up camera and wiring a few months ago. Recently the message said "device not recognized". I have an Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, so I had the service guy look at it and determined it was only the iPhone plug. Believe it or not, they charged me $16 for a new one despite the several hundred dollars I spend on the system to purchase and have it installed. Does it make sense to anyone that they would charge ME for their defective cord rather than doing the right thing and replacing the iPhone cord? They not only lost a customer but what will this do for their reputation? Was it worth $16? Stay clear. read more

If you need electronic work such as Alarms or remote start. Please stay away from Sound FX. They lost parts to a component I was looking to have installed and when I found them in the employee only area they flipped. I asked the young man to be careful opening the package because it had small parts. Good thing I did what I did but they got belligerent, threatened to call police and I could tell he wanted to hit me I made no aggressive moves or comments just got my stuff and left. Just sent an email to Mark (President at Sound FX) - let's see if he responds appropriately - I will update my review - but my experience was extremely disappointing. I was at first pleased with the response to my inquiry about a remote starter for my husband for Christmas. Especially after learning the prices included installation. So - Made up my mind on a basic one. When I got to the store - I was upsold to one that was $100 more... (it's a christmas gift - so okay). Made my appointment for 3 weeks away - yes - the reviews are correct - they keep your car the WHOLE day. No reason for that - we dropped it off at 8:30 am - no call - when I called at 3 - was told it should be ready around 5. Fine. My husband got a ride to pick it up - he's too nice - I wish I went with him. When he got there - they proceeded to charge him $50. Why? Because apparently there was already a factory remote in the vehicle (which we didn't know - had never used it - never worked - so assumed it was either disabled or not an actual feature). So - they took this out - and charged him $50 to do so. Why? No call to get this approved!?? The kicker - they didn't even give him the remote starter they took out. Where is it?! Now this morning - less than 36 hours later - his vehicle battery is DEAD. In my opinion - this is less than satisfactory service - I'm looking for a full refund - and I want the original remote starter back. Roughly, two weeks ago I went to SoundFX in Warwick shopping for a shock sensor alarm installation. I was greeted by two gentlemen who went over cost and necessities to having a shock sensor installed. I told them I have a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T and asked if there's an installation where I can still use my factory fob versus having to carry multiple fobs. I was informed that this is possible but asked if my factory fob is capable of remotely starting my vehicle. This is indeed the case - my vehicle comes with factory alarm (no shock sensor) and remote starter. They cringed at the news and proclaimed that a remote start would interfere with a shock sensor - whereas remotely starting my vehicle will trigger the alarm. I guess it sounds rational, but I was highly skeptical. I then asked (assuming they are the professionals and they know what they're doing) what would be the best course of action. They insisted that I have a shock sensor installed and a brand new remote starter install with all the bells and whistles. Things like mobile remote start using your smart phone, vehicle tracking using a subscription-based GPS where the first year is free. I would have to resort to having two fobs, however. This was all well and dandy but I felt it to be such a waste to scrap a factory remote starter just to install a new one IN ORDER to install a shock sensor. They asked if I wanted to make an appointment to get these installed. Pumping the brakes, I asked how much this was all going to cost me. They respond - within the ballpark of $500. Seriously?! GTFO! I came here looking for advice and a way to install a shock sensor that you can buy on Amazon for $10. I just wanted to pay for the parts and labor because I know absolutely nothing about wiring alarm systems. Still with heavy skepticism I declined to make the appointment and was then determined to get to the bottom of this. I've watched enough YouTube to know that people have successfully installed shock sensors on their vehicles. Some even the same model as mine. I came across a service that sold these shock sensor kits online and it comes with an instruction video catered specifically to your make and model. It's a DIY kit and costs $130. I proceeded to make the order. When I was done ordering I realized I should ask about the remote starter interfering with the shock sensor. The guy at the other end of the email said I have nothing to worry about, the sensor will not trigger from the remote starter, he's tested it on several accords, and that the installation is easy (true). He also mentioned that the people giving me those previous advices were either lying or deceiving me in effort to up-sell. He said if I'm not satisfied with the product, he'll gladly give me a refund. So what have I to lose? Today I finished my installation of the shock sensor. It was simple. The video they provided, made it a breeze. My car alarm now triggers if there's tampering or vibration and I only need my original factory fob. Also, my remote starter DOES NOT interfere with my shock sensor. And it all costs $370 less than my previous option. I, honestly, never give out 1-star reviews. Normally I just won't review if it's less than perfect. But this is different. I felt deceived, lied to, and I really felt I was almost taken advantage of by the people at SoundFX. People whom I trust are experts in their field. I bet they are absolutely great at the things they claim to do. But trying to rip me off with lies, where I had to go out of my way to prove is false is just absolutely despicable. You are the people who are in your line of work to help people like me protect my investments from thieves and crooks and here you are plastered on the cover of Irony. $500 for something I didn't even need... How are you any different from these wheel thieves? Moral of the story - do your research and get your facts straight before making any appointment. Know what you need, know what can and cannot be accomplished, and don't let them scare you into investing more than you should. Ps. I had also inquired them about window tint installation. I doubt I'll be coming back even for that, given the nature of how business is done here. read more

Had a radar detector (escort 360c) with custom mirror mount installed in my car by this store. They did an excellent job, looks like original equipment. The job was completed exactly in the time they said it would be and they spent plenty of time on instructions. I highly recommend this store. Had a problem with the radar detector not turning on, stopped at SoundFX (without appointment), they took the car right in and took care of what turned out to be a minor problem in less the twenty minutes and did it at no charge. Couldn't even get a callback after 3 calls and an email. I had previously popped in the shop since they gave me great service the time before. I went in to get info on a front and rear dash cam. I talked to John (sales manager) and he was very helpful in person. Gave me great info and gave me options. I asked if I should call him or email him back once I decided on what model I wanted installed. He said I could do either. I emailed him the next day no answer. I called him the day after, and was told he was busy and that he would call me back. No call back. Called him AGAIN the next morning. Same thing.."he'll call you back". NO CALL BACK. Called him a third time in the afternoon (the had my number) SAME THING. "He's busy, he'll call. you back." I said forget it. I called their other location in EP and booked the install. All I can say is NEVER EVER go to Sound FX in Warwick on bald hill road! They destroyed my center console holder when they installed my radio, and they made it so my hazard,defogger, and fog light buttons had no mount (cause they broke the plastic where they screw in) so I litterally had to zip tie my hazard buttons into the console until I could get a new console bracket!!! They also broke my clock. And the center console is supposed to have a shelf that holds stuff like CDs, and the radio goes above the shelf...yeah they ripped that clean out of my center console and screwed it into the car in such a shit job kinda way! It litterally screws into the console then the car...they ripped it out and screwed it into the car and left the console resting over it!!! Didn't notice all the damage they did till years later when I had to use my hazards and the whole row of buttons fell into the bracket and they were STUCK ON (blinking hazards) till I drove home and took the center console out! Yay for junk yards! Got a new console and did the work myself with the help of YouTube and my father! Now I'm out all that money I spent on them installing the radio AND the 45$ part I needed that they destroyed! Plus all the aggravation! If I could I would give no stars! These guys need to practice disassembling in junk yards or something cause this was horrible! Someone at the shop helped to figure out my it was the charger to my phone causing the glitch. He gave me his iPhone charger and I have not had any issues with it. Very happy with there service! Here is the backstory. Had issues with the door ajar light staying on, Ford said it was an issue with the compustar remote start. So I called compustar (Phenomenal Customer Service) let them know what was going on and they found the closest dealer to me said it was under lifetime warranty and because the place I bought it a few years ago closed they were gonna send me to another authorized dealer. Thats when they sent me to Sound FX, They had awesome customer service and they got to the bottom of the issue and they replaced the remote start under warranty in literally 3 hours. Just received my 1997 c230 white Benz back from sound fx today. They installed the new pioneer avh-x7500bt along with a jl 10 inch w6v3, and a jl 600/1 monoblock amp. The installation was super professional and I couldn't be more happy with the service. From start to finish eddy was very professional, worked with me on the price, and handled all my nervous questions about the installation with care and professionalism. I will be going back for any car audio installations I have in the future. A+ -update- I noticed a little bit of feedback in two of my door speakers after the install. I called up eddy and he immediately told me to bring it down so he could look at it. He had the technician troubleshoot the problem right away and the problem ended up being something that had been existent before the install (I always had a little feedback). He fixed it and made it sound quieter than it ever had even, before the problem! My car has literally zero feedback noise of any kind, dead silent. Again very happy with the whole experience and my car sounds better than I was even expecting. read more

I took my car to Sound FX to have a blind spot monitor installed. They were professional, responsive, and helpful. I am quite pleased with the system, which was significantly less than the dealer wanted for a system that was not as good. I read the negative reviews and must say that I do not agree. I, too, looked on Amazon. Aside from not being able to install the system on my own, it wasn't as complete as the one I purchased. Amazon is an algorithm. It cannot suggest what is best for your needs. The best it can do is have customers make suggestions; that is hardly the same as having a professional help you choose the right product, much less install it. The old adage holds true: you get what you pay for. If you are more interested in saving money than in a quality, and are willing to settle for good enough rather than great, then by all means don't use Sound FX. If, like me, you prefer quality work and products that do what they are supposed to, as they are supposed to, then patronize Sound FX. It is money well spent. read more

Time for a policy change. The current policy of Sound Fx for installation appointments needs to be more respectful of people's time. My recent experience with having a automatic car starter installed left me less than pleased. The appointment was made weeks in advance for 8:30 am. On the morning of my appointment I without delay delivered my truck for the service. The person at the service counter took my keys and phone number and advised I will be phoned when the truck was ready. Thinking it would be a few hours I left my vehicle and went on with my day. At noontime there was no call so I then reached out to Sound Fx to see when the job would be done. With out hesitation the young man on the phone say between 6 and 7 pm. With this I lost it. How can a shop make appointments for 8:30 am and then proceed to take 10 to 11 hours to do the work. After a few heated words I was told my truck would be ready for 2:00 pm pick up. At 2:00 pm I show up but still the work is not finished. It was 2:45 before they completed a 45 minute task. I feel that the management of this shop has no respect for other people's time. If he did then service like this would not be. In fairness they told me that this is their policy and that I was told this. However the truth is no one told me my truck would be ready at 6 Pm. Bottom line is if you need your car or truck on the day you plan service at this shop your just out of luck because your time and your vehicle is theirs until they get good and ready to finish the job. In today's busy world who has the time for this nonsense? I hope the management reads this Post and takes away that their policy is not good. The customer should be treated with respect for his time just as they would want their time appreciated. read more

First off, never install a remote starter in you car., just not worth it. Had a Kenwood KDC-898 installed in my truck, a Viper keyless entry system installed, and everything is perfect. Even have Bluetooth for my flip phone, there's a reason why I have one of them, but that's for another time. Nice to talk through the radio, and not have to deal with the phone. The staff was very helpful, and knowledgeable, and to my amazement, my truck is not ruined. And yes the sound is spectacular. read more

Short Story: Sound Fx has horrible costumer service and will ruin your car. My Experience: As a Christmas gift I got a remote car starter and had it installed at sound fx. (That was my first mistake.) I was totally excited until the second I drove off the lot and my car started having issues. My RPMS would randomly jump from 2000-3000 jolting my car. Seeing as it was the holidays and I was already out of town I wasn't able to return to get it fixed. So the day I get home I take my car out to do a quick errand and the car stops working completely. So like any normal person I called and got my car towed to my car shop and I ended finding out that during the installation of my car starter Sound Fx had messed up my car. It was $120 to get it fixed. Whatever, I thought, keep calm they will just reimburse me... what person wouldn't?? I even have the paperwork to prove it. (That was my second mistake) This is where things get good **sarcasm** So I go to Sound Fx present them with the situation and the paper work and in return they refused to do anything. They were so condescending and rude. To top it off they then had the audacity to bad mouth the place I had gotten my car fixed (a place I always bring my car to and FYI they are amazing). The guy started talking in circles and was making bullshi claims and pretty much telling me I wouldn't understand. He then told me "not to get involved." Excuse me? What the hell does that mean? I just dropped $120 from a problem you caused. And your acting like it's not my problem or yours. Then he tried to explain that the problem was actually not their fault because "if it was I would still be having the problem." No sweetie, you messed up my car during the installation and I had the problem fixed so it wouldn't be a problem. I think they are so use to their shitty ways of "fixing" things that they assume fixing means the problem will happen again. I ended up leaving because I could tell as a young female the manager wasn't giving me the time or day he was so overly condescending and just talking BS. Never in my life have I been around such unprofessional, incompetent, pricks. I'm curious as to how this problem will get resolved but this will not be the end of it. This will however be the last time I ever go to Sound Fx Additionally a few of my friends had purchased subs at Sound Fx and had them installed and have had nothing but problems. Terrible service! Do not go to SoundFX! I had them install subs in my Mercedes and they did a terrible job. They cut the carpet to access the battery which was unnecessary. The whole system stopped working the next day and after having them look at it they told me the amp had blown. I asked for an explanation and they did not give me a straight answer, only saying in a few different ways that they were not responsible. My options were to have them repair my amp or buy a new amp from them, and since they charged me more than they originally quoted me I just asked them to take everything out...They wanted to charge me even more to remove the equipment! Terrible customer service, they tore up my car and broke my equipment and to top it all off my head unit skips on CD's, AUX and the radio ever since they touched my car. I came in to look at car stereos, there was a guy named Eddy, who let me play around with all the car stereos and kept answering the many questions I had. The reason I was there was to get a car alarm and a new car stereo. After finding the stereo I wanted they gave me a total, which was for both items plus installation. Eddy worked on the price and gave me a deal though, which saved me quite a bit. I let them know my schedule was busy and I could not wait later in the week to get everything installed because. There was a cancellation though and the guy who does the installations (I cant remember his name) was nice enough to install everything on the same day! During the installation Eddy let me sit in the entertainment room and watch a movie for free. The installer was so quick though that the job for installing both items was completed before the movie was over. After installation was completed Eddy voluntarily showed me how to use the radio, with bluetooth for calling, and how to use it with my iPod. The radio itself is fairly complicated, but thanks to the help I am now able to use it. I will recommend this place to others! read more

They didn't explain the options available before performing the work. Years later, I found out that there was a configuration option, at no extra charge, that would have avoided much frustration with my purchase. Confronting the sales staff in the store today, they said that they didn't offer the option "because I didn't ask for it". In other words, they made it my fault for not knowing about this option that I could have asked for in 2015. My advice: Get your nice equipment somewhere else ... ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

Update to my previous review. I was able to fix the remote start system myself, after ordering the bitwriter 998t and valet switch (which any viper dealer like soundfx already has) I was able to fix this problem in less than one minute. I factory defaulted or "zapped" the remote start module, re-paired the remote to the truck and it works perfect again! SoundFX could have completed this fix in less time than me I would imagine, they could just care less if my system worked that day. I will definitely never return to this shop. read more

The install is clean and professional looking. Their showroom is impressive, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I couldn't have been more dissatisfied. I wanted to get a Viper smartstart installed for my 2010 Acura TL along with an alarm. I told them I didn't want a viper remote, and wanted to work everything with my smartphone or factory keyfob. Promises were made and not kept. After the initial installation, I had a list of issues ranging from the alarm going off when I opened my car door, to not being able to open my trunk. What topped it off for me was the error message I was getting on my Nav screen and dashboard, warning me that my car may not start the next time I attempt to start it. After messing with this issue for a day, the manager (Mark) from the Warwick RI location responded by saying that was informational, there was nothing to worry about and that it was normal behavior. He told me that no-one else has ever complained about it before. I explained that after paying over $800, I didn't want to anything even close to an alert or error. I wanted everything perfect, which is why I went to them in the first place. I read some good reviews online (probably written by employees themselves) and decided to give it a try. I asked for a full refund since they didn't deliver what they promised, Mark advised me that he would only offer refund for product and not labor. So I guess it was my fault that they couldn't install viper components without error/alerts blaring on multiple screens in my car. I've obviously taken legal action; I just wanted to get this out there in case anyone else decided to check their review stats before actually going to them. The guys inside the shop were very polite, and it was obvious that they were just relaying the information from Mark. If you do decide to go with them, make sure you document everything, and ask them to document anything they do. read more

The reason why i gave this 5 stars is because of your employee CHRIS. He is the most excellent customer service worker i have ever seen. Especially at Sound FX. he went above and beyond to make sure to explain and give us the best idea of certain sounds different speakers could produce. He even went as far as bringing us out to his car to listen to his stereo. He put together a great list of items we would need to hook up our car. When he gave us the estimate we asked him when we should come back so he could get the commission on it. its over 1000.00 sale. And he said he doesn't receive commission yet, so we it wouldn't matter when we came in. honestly, my husband and I are not going to come back until he does. He went above and beyond and deserves it. For someone who works so hard and really CARES about the customer, we wouldn't want to come in and give someone else commission on something they didn't even have to do anything to earn. read more
