I didn't know what to expect when I finally took a SoulCycle class but I ended up really liking my experience! I typically don't enjoy cycling classes, but out of all the ones that I've taken, this one was my favorite. A big reason was because it was relatively low pressure. The instructor was so friendly and the room seemed to have a calm yet welcoming vibe to it. It definitely had moments of motivation, but it wasn't aggressive. Brandon was fantastic, as were his song choices. I enjoyed how the class was in the dark but had cool studio lighting and candles. My favorite was how the seats actually were able to be adjusted for someone under 5 foot tall. I was excited that there was a small weights section of class, but it didn't really feel like it did much. There are lockers upstairs and downstairs, as well as bathrooms and showers for use. You can rent cycling shoes there and leave them in a bin for cleaning afterwards. Yeah If you really enjoy cycling, I think this class is worth it. I probably will not come back anytime soon as I just started a different gym membership, but if someone invited me to another class, I would definitely attend. read more

It was my first time doing SoulCycle and I booked it via Classpass. Your first time can always be intimidating, but I found this class to be so welcoming and friendly. Since it was my first time, the shoe rental ($4) was free. Then the front desk gave me a little run down of the space and even came to help me adjust my bike. The room is dark and music is blasting. The playlists really do hype you up here, which is fun. I went to a Britney v Beyoncé class, which challenged me just the right amount. While it is a cycling class, you do get a little arm workout in the end too. Love that the bathroom is fully stock with tampons, bobby bins, hair ties, and such. Everything is so clean and easy to understand. read more

My new go to studio! I used to live in the city and go to the Nomad and 19th street locations, but glad there are great instructors at this location as well! Lamar, Eve, Junior, Ayana and Clair are great instructors at this location if you like hip hop music! Staff is friendly and they have deals for new riders. I went for my birthday ride my first time here and they gave me a gift (varies but that year it was socks) read more

I took my FIRST EVER SoulCycle class today, thanks to a free community class they were partnering with Strava on! It was my first time at a SoulCycle studio and I appreciated how tidy this location was. They have one room of ~50 bikes and enough lockers for everyone in the class. The locker area is co-ed, however the bathroom + showers (4) are separate Men/Women/Non-Binary. This location had all the necessary toiletries for ladies - towels, shower needs, hair dryer, tampons, deodorant, etc. They have shoes for rental ($4), but your first pair is on them! The SoulCycle crew is very sweet and willing to help all newbies adjust their bike seats and pedal resistance (shoutout to Kylie and Abby). The shoes take some time to get a handle on clicking them in + out of the pedals, but you're able to unbuckle them + leave on the bike if it's too difficult. My instructor was Meghan and she had a great playlist + ample energy! While she guides us to ride to the beat of the (at times, fast) music, we are free to go at our own, comfortable pace. Please don't push yourself too hard to the point where you might overwork your joints! I really loved how safe + comfortable I felt in the class, and I felt that it was a judgment-free zone, which was very important for a beginner, casual athlete, like myself. The seat definitely hurt and I heard that it never gets easier - you only get used to it lol Overall, I had such a fun time and I'd absolutely come back to take a class! read more

I love soul cycle! There is a gentleman who works the Friday shift at the desk When I came in right on the dot he took my things and put them away so I could just jump into the class. That was six 5 star treatment. I was able to jump into and enjoy instead of feeling rushed or skip my warm up. I didn't catch his name but he was there on a Friday afternoon read more

I took 3 cycling classes at this SoulCycle. A couple of days before my birthday, I received an email informing me that I can take a complimentary class the day of it. There is a caveat to taking this offer. The employees made a huge deal about it. When I walked into class, I saw they left a greeting card on my bike. First, the instructor made an announcement about it before we started. Second, two employees came into the room with a camera and a candle. They made the other cyclists sing Happy Birthday to me. Finally, they took my picture when I blew out the candle. Besides the embarrassment, I love the class. Andrew is my favorite instructor. He has the best playlist and he's very enthusiastic. Hence, I was extremely lucky he taught that day. read more

I recently took one of my favorite SoulCycle classes to date and that was all because of Lamar (instructor) and the Brooklyn Heights location. I came in for an 8:30 am class. The train stop is about a block away from the studio, making it super easy to get to. The front desk staff was friendly and helped guide me through the studio since it's two floors. The class was about 75-80% full so it wasn't too stuffy yet there was still a good energy in the room. Playlist was fire and the inspiration talk was on point. I would definitely say that SoulCycle is a more advanced spin studio where sometimes the speed and choreography can be a lot. Would highly suggest Lamar's class because it wasn't too much and also he reminded you to take it at your own pace. This location has clean showers and towels for you to use so you can get ready for work right after class Check it out and if you've been to this location what other instructors class should I attend? read more

Great location in Brooklyn! The studio is clean and the instructors bring great energy! Very poor customer service. Our group was scheduled for this past Saturday. We arrived before the time and was turned away, all 19 of us!!! I was excited to be starting this new journey to a healthy lifestyle and SoulCycle would have been a new experience for me. It is very sad that this business is in our community yet we felt like we were second class citizens. Is this normal business etiquette? I will never return and will advise my friends not to either. First impression is a lasting one. There is nothing you can do to erase how you made me feel. Its a NO for me. read more

I've been an avid spinner for 2 years now and checked out Soul Cycle at this location for the first time. It's A-okay! After check in, there isn't ample help with the bikes themselves and the instructor Noa doesn't explain any of the moves on the bike. Though this didn't cause any issues for me, I imagine this might make it tough for beginners. 2 of the beginners around me didn't know where the weights were because it's not explained to beginners as it's all a rush when class starts. The class intensity was around a 2/5. I will say, the instructor Noa was motivational in regards to life lessons and tried his best, which I appreciated. On the other hand, I loved instructor Andrew's class and hope he's on the schedule more often! He's high energy and hilarious. Negatives are that the gym is unpleasantly crowded and dare I say, had a planet fitness feel instead of a boutique and upscale bike studio (considering the class prices). read more

Soulcycle that is conveniently located right near the Borough Hall subway station! I'd like to give a shout out to the front desk staff at this location- I had the app act up on me a few times (I was assigned two bikes instead of one and couldn't fix it on my end) and they were so helpful and friendly every time. The locker room is on the lower level (take care to not walk down the stairs in your bike shoes) but there are also some lockers available right by the studio. Make sure to check out the themed rides on the app- so far, I've been to a Brittany Spears class and a Lady Gaga x Beyonce class at this location, and its been super fun! read more

After suffering from a back injury that put me out of workouts for almost a year, I was finally feeling better and looking for a gentle workout that was still challenging. I remembered trying Soul Cycle years ago and it wasn't necessarily my favorite, but figured for a low impact exercise, it wouldn't hurt to try again... And I'm so glad I did! The instructors at this location are phenomenal. The employees are so kind, and every time I walk in, I immediately feel inspired and motivated. It may be expensive, but I'll spend the money if it improves my life both physically and mentally any day! I do wish they had classes later than 7PM some days because I get off of work so late, but I love my morning classes too! All of the instructors are great so you can't go wrong but of the few I've tried here I highly recommend: Andrew, Lamar, and Eve! read more

First time doing soul cycle and I was very nervous going into it. Setting up the class was easy downloading the app or just calling in. They have times ranging from 730 am to 730 pm at this Brooklyn heights location. Also different instructors with different playlist to choose from. My instructor today was Erin and I must say she did an amazing job. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed by some very friendly ladies at the front desk they definitely eased my nerves and thoroughly explained everything to the t step by step. The facility is very clean neat and organized studio is upstairs to the right, locker rooms downstairs to the left. Downstairs is so big and has everything you need from lockers to showers, bathroom, changing area. Filled with complementary feminine products such as deodorant, shampoo, body wash etc. I loved that. Once the class started someone comes around if you need help setting up your bike. Towels are provided you can bring your own water or purchase. Lights get dim then its go time. Judgment free zone so if you need to stop or slow down you can without worry. Prices are inexpensive very affordable. By the time I finished I was well at ease. I really loved my experience here I'll definitely be back thank you read more

Honestly, I hated any form of spin class a couple of years ago. I would hate that the seats would hurt my tush and then everyone's like "oh don't worry you'll get used to it" and I'm like why would you want to get used to something hard hurting your rush?! Insert a dirty joke somewhere... But really, I hated it. And then I told myself that unless I wanted to run another marathon (DUCK NOOOOO), this was one of my better options to get cardio in in a group setting. So here I am, a year later, enjoying my SoulCycle classes without having drank the infamous Koolaid... and what I mean by that is I do not own any clothing or equipment by SoulCycle and I don't plan to ever... I am not one of them... yet. *insert nervous laughter* SoulCycle is certainly a safe space though and I tell everyone who cares to listen to not be intimidated by it. Let the fanatics who obviously go 2x a day (I've seen these people, y'all are bat crazyyyyy) sit in the front two rows. You can get a seat in a corner of darkness and peddle lightly while marveling at tu crays in front if you prefer. No one cares. I prefer to sit in the the third row where I can be slightly motivated but not embarrass myself when I screw up the choreography (which was obviously made for people who are much more coordinated than I with less fatty bits in the way). So yeah, go, have fun, burn a ton of calories. If you're lucky you'll do a class with the disco ball. Honestly my favorite classes so far have been with Kayla for SoulActivate. It's less choreography more intervals meaning more sweat and HIIT to torch le gras. (Side note, please make fun of me in the future if I do end up running another marathon.) read more

SoulCycle Brooklyn Heights - Cycling Classes Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I am currently on a pursuit to ride at all of the Soul studios within NYC and I have done majority of the Manhattan ones, so I had been waiting for a weekend where I had some free time where I could venture to BK to ride at those, and I was able to this past Saturday. I took the 4 train from the UES and it was very convenient, once I got off the subway, the Brooklyn Heights studio was literally right there. I liked this studio a lot in regards to all of the other soul studios. It is a large one, with check in and the actual studios upstairs and the locker rooms downstairs. There is ample space in the locker room that even when classes are getting out, you're not on top of each other. I rode with Ross D. on Saturday afternoon at 1 and it was a great class. He was so much fun, made the class really enjoyable and had great music choice. I showered after and got ready, there are 4 large showers here and I didn't need to sprint down right away nor did I need to wait for a shower. All the soulcycle studios use Le Labo products in the showers (shampoo, conditioner, soap and face wash) which is nice, although not my ultimate favorite, but I do like them. I also really enjoy that they provide a separate face wash. If you are looking to shower and get ready here after a class they provide all the essentials from towels, to shampoo, conditioner, soap, face wash, razors, bags for dirty clothes, hairdryers, hair ties, spray on deodorant, etc. They have large mirrors to dry your hair and get ready, you really feel like you are pampering yourself. SO happy to check this studio off my list, and seeing how easy it was to actually get to, I'd consider coming back! read more

This is a really nice Soul Cycle location. Friendly staff and great instructors. Both Molli and Noa led awesome, high energy classes. The music and lighting effects....so good. Also great is how user-friendly their website is. You can read biographies of all instructors, get a sense of their music choices and vibe, pick your bike, etc. Easy easy easy! Obviously the exorbitant price is what will keep me from becoming a regular but if I bathed in cash money I'd be here all the time. read more

So I've heard soo much about SoulCycle from coworkers but didn't want to travel all the way to the city to take a class. So imagine my extreme excitement when I saw they opened a location near me. I quickly signed up for my trial class (don't let the word trial fool you, it's not free just slightly discounted) and prepared myself for a killer workout. After completing my first class I automatically knew this was the place for me. Justin was an amazing teacher and the entire staff was extremely friendly answering any question you may have. Only Con I have about this business is the pricing. It's a bit on the expensive side (one class cost more than a monthly gym membership) but if you're serious about getting a good work out and being in great shape you have to invest in yourself right?! Also they provide shoes for you but it will cost ($3). Overall: I'm excited and can't wait to return for my next class. read more

SoulCycle Brooklyn Heights - Cycling Classes Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Though I own a pair of soul cycle sweats...I've never actually been to soul cycle. So I journeyed all the way to Brooklyn to give it a shot. I was really excited about it as I'm a boutique fitness fanatic. The class: for the most part I liked it. It was high energy and what I expect from a class like this. My instructor was Ellena and she did a good job. Music was very hip hop and clubby music which is generally the genre I like to spin too. I felt like there could've been clearer directives on when to adjust the resistance. As a lazy spinner, I tend to under rotate. Even following her directives I didn't feel like I had much resistance on my bike. The bad: my front desk receptionist was not very friendly and kind of pretentious which I did not appreciate. But my friend who had the receptionist next to her, had a really nice receptionist, so hit or miss. I also feel like everyone here just talks really fast (the receptionist, the staff that helped me adjust my bike, the instructor) and a first timer trying to digest the situation it can feel kind of hard. I probably wouldn't return because of the steep price tag. I've been to other spin studios in NYC and I think they are a better fit for me and I don't have to find my soul ;). read more

The most down to earth Soul Cycle location I have been to. It doesn't seem as "cult like" as most of the other locations. The counter staff is extremely friendly. The studio is clean. Instructors are great. Always numerous people to help set up your bikes, and bathrooms are always clean. read more

Recently starting going to SC after years of avoiding anything that resembled or sounded like "spinning". Why ride a bike to nowhere?, says the girl who runs the treadmill for interval workouts. What's up with the cult-ish affirmations? I go yoga for mind-body BS. A friend recently asked if I would go with her, as a favor, while she was visiting me from SF. Eh, it was OK. I definitely got a good workout, felt sore the next day, but didn't really get it. After the holiday break, I decided I need to mix up my workout routine so I browsed the instructors and found this one guy, Noa, who had a playlist borne of my classic rock/alt rock dreams. Oh my, what a dream! His playlist is vastly different from most of the other instructors and I just can't get over how perfect it is for me. So perfect that I've dragged other like-minded friends to his class, and they love his jam too. I have tried classes with a variety of other instructors, and most will have some sort of playlist that I can get into...but I'm not really into the dance music vibe. Also I have found other instructors are better at "instructing" the various moves, but no one gets me to ride out the 45 minutes in bliss like Noa! read more

So I finally took the time to register for a class and experience SoulCycle for the first time in all it's glory. I decided to go to the Brooklyn Heights location. A friend that works there (Seth) recommended Selena Watkins as an instructor. When I walked in I was greeted with professionalism and everyone was so helpful...especially when they realized it was my first time. Someone helped me setup my bike and everything. I am hooked! Here is why. With the look at me personality I have, I selected the bike directly in front of the instructor. Selena didn't waste time in finding the first time riders, and she definitely gave me a chance to switch bikes knowing how challenging/intimidating SoulCycling can be in general...Especially if you are brand new! I might be new to SoulCycling, but I am not new to cycling. Let me just say, we are a match made in heaven. Finally, I found a workout/instructor that embraces rhythm fully and a quality Playlist. Someone who feels the lyrics and encourages her riders to stay with the beat. With a MLK day theme, I knew every song. It was like a rock/mega Rap star entered the studio the minute Selena walked in. Words can't even describe the way she exuded this badass chick vibe, "like follow me on this journey! I will lead you!" Coming straight out of the Army for 5 years, I am use to having a workout instructor with swag/attitude...but this was on another level! Just top notch. Ignoring the fact damn near every woman in there looked like they could take pictures for a living, including the instructor; I literally lost myself in the music. I am in love. If Equinox wasn't taking most of my workout budget, I would literally take 4 of her classes a week. I am telling all my friends about this experience. About to add some more testosterone in there and convince my homies that this is the way to lose the love handles. The lighting, the candles, and the pulsating energy that is SoulCycle. They have something special brewing at the Brooklyn Heights location. I am gonna ride this style of working out to the greatest body I have ever had. read more

I was hesitant to be another white girl joining the famous stereotype of white girls in spin class, but SoulCycle stole my heart. Idk if it's just this location but it's not bougie or fake. The clients and instructors are authentic, diverse, and I always break a mean sweat. I'm excited to keep in riding! read more

Incredible experience! Some reviews said there was no air conditioning so I called the studio (it was 90+) and they assured me they had air. The place is so sleek and well run I had to laugh at the idea of no air. Very clean, immaculate even. The front desk people were amazing very accommodating to me who had never done a Soul class before. The class itself was excellent t the acoustics perfect - music enveloping but not deafening, instructor very easy to hear. I really enjoyed the choreography. Some other people in the class seemed like professional dancers but rather than find that intimidating I found it thrilling- it made me focus and try harder. I could take my cues from riders around me as well as watching the instructor. Everyone who loves spinning should experience a soul cycle class. read more

SoulCycle is meant for a certain type of person. I am not that person. I went to this location twice -- Ross and Eve were the instructors. First the good: This location is beautiful with high ceilings, and well-sized. There are lots of staff to check you in, and they do it quickly. The locker/shower areas are very clean. However, the classes leave a lot to be desired. The instructors seem much more concerned with entertaining than actual instruction -- no corrections are given. The audio is poor -- at least with Eve, I couldn't hear anything she was saying and missed a lot of her cues. The choreography for SoulCycle as a whole feels unsafe, and could easily torque knees, shoulders and other joints -- might be easier if you're in your 20s but form and safety matter more once you get to a certain stage of life. The 3-pound dumbbell upper body section is useless --yes, it burns after 5 minutes, but that'll happen anytime you hold your hands above your head for that long. Finally, for being located in a wonderfully diverse community, the complete lack of diversity (race but also age and gender) at this location is truly stunning to the point of being uncomfortable. If you need to be entertained to force yourself to workout, have money to burn and live in the Downtown/South Brooklyn area, you will probably enjoy this place. While I might go again occasionally to mix things up, I plan to get a more effective, safer and pocket-book friendly workout elsewhere. read more

Such a great workout. The staff are super friendly and it's very clean. They always make newbies feel super welcome. My favourite instructor is Mikki! The music is awesome :D read more

Finally got a chance to try out Soul Cycle because they were offering a 2 for price of 1 deal for newbies. I am a huge fan of Peloton spin classes so went into the class with certain expectations and knowledge about how the two spin styles differ. My class was taught by Mikki and right away I started breaking out into a sweat because the first few tracks involved a lot of upper body choreography which I wasn't used to. Once I got the hang of it then it was fine but this was definitely a total body workout. Peloton rides are more interval and metrics based since their bikes monitor your workout which is one of the reasons I love Peloton. I left the Soul Cycle class feeling like I got a great workout, but the room was too hot for me since there was no air conditioning. It felt a bit like bikram spin to be honest towards the end and that's just not fun for me. I'll definitely come back to do my second class, but not sure if the huge price difference between Peloton and Soul Cycle is worth it. read more

Friendly staff; compared to 4 other locations I've been to. Very clean. Wish the women's change/bath room was bigger. Rachel W. Is hands down the best soul cycle instructor. I only take classes here because of her. Other than that, I'm not a soul cycle fan at all. read more

This is by far the best studio in NYC - it's clean and the people are welcoming. Enough space for a normal size class and doesn't feel too claustrophobic. Just took my first $20 trial class! 6am Monday morning... The environment is very clean and snazzy. (I don't normally shower in public gyms but made the exception here!) I left sweating and ready to take on my work and school day! The "cult" aspect to its reputation is certainly understandable and at this point I think I'm hooked! I definitely recommend for someone who may need something new. 4 stars because I'm waiting to come back for more and really see. 8/13 update I now go once or twice a week! Joey- very fun, engaging and motivating-does double weights and whenever I take other classes I feel like hulk :) Liz- strong and fun, she doesn't do 6 am anymore but I'm hoping to find time to take her class again Lizzy w- honestly I enjoyed her class immensely, she is on the more quite side compared to other instructors but still gets you going Ellena-engaging, no screaming which I liked. Madeleine-more on the intense side which is also fun for getting the most out of the ride and for you $! read more

i came into SoulCycle as a walk in to the 10;30am class with Rachel. class was full but one student cancelled and i was able to attend as a walk in. front desk staff was helpful and so were the other staffs within the studio. i came from peloton studio and was simply in the area and have free time to kill for a work out. Comparing SoulCycle to Pelonton, SoulCycle definitely lost. its not much of a work out but a large music festival with your stationary bike. i didn't really feel much of a work out. the stationary bike doesn't have electronic meter to tell you of your heart rates, your resistance, and your speed. if you are really into indoor cycling or enjoy the music with your work out check out Pelonton instead. but if you enjoy party festival type of atmosphere, then soul cycle is just what your need. read more

Okay, so, Rachel W is life changing, she's got the best vibe ever. Great tunes, good choreography, etc. The front desk is great. Whomever was comparing this to Peloton has it backwards. They don't even turn the volume up in their studios - it's a TOTALLY different experience, and nowhere close to coming to SoulCycle. I've tried both extensively. SoulCycle is like church. Peloton is like some competitive droning workout where literally everyone in the room is doing their own shit and there is zero vibe. SC for life! read more

Soulcycle #2 Review - this studio is MUCH bigger than the Manhattan location. Locker room and bathroom space is really nice and clean. So far I've taken one class with Liz and she's a tough cookie. 45 minutes felt like boot camp on the bike and my whole body was so sore - it was incredible. Her music choice was everything from old school hip hop, to current songs, to that good, Brooklyn house music! Absolutely amazing and motivating. Looking forward to meeting more instructors at this location very soon. But Liz is my favorite so far! read more

If you already know you like Soulcycle, you will probably like this. But what I learned from my 2 classes at Soulcycle Bk Hts is that my teachers at new york sports club were damn good spin instructors and its time to rejoin the gym, which is exactly what i did. pros: very clean environment, nice locker rooms, friendly desk personnel, convenient location right next to subway at borough hall. free filtered water (bring your own bottle). they offered free passes for people who walked in which was very cool bc i know soulcycle is notoriously opposed to any kinds of deals & discounts. the studio seems small, but they manage to fit a lot of bikes comfortably in the space. the only negative about the space is that i didn't quite feel the fans. they have so many fans but they just dont distribute air as well as i'd like. in total you spin extensively for about 30 minutes and then do like 15 minutes of liting while spinning at a slower rate. you may do pushups on the bike. its a pretty intense full body workout, which is great. personally speaking i just dont get the hype. when i walked in to class and saw a bunch of people in soulcycle gear (its so cultish! they're wearing the band t shirt to the concert) and the instructor started saying motivational things like "be your best self! you're on your way to the perfect you! the way you are is A-okay!" i started to feel...well...weirded out....add in the fact that the other students in class started cheering on the instructor's command and i started wondering whether they'd be passing out kool aid afterwards for us to drink together... on the website, they will describe the instructors' music tastes, which can give you some idea of what to expect. i think the other challenge for me is i simply dont like electronic dance music. its not my thing. i like spin classes when they manage to create awesome workout mixes from hip hop and rock songs that i know. so the 2 classes i went to at soulcycle i just heard electronic stuff i didn't like (they LOVE Diplo at soulcycle bk hts). when you combine music that im not in to with a cultish vibe that i just dont connect with, overall it showed me that the soulcycle approach is not for me. And of course, there's the biggest con of all: $35 bucks a class? No thank you. When i left soulcycle i thought, "well, i didn't love that, but i do miss going to spinning". i had great spin instructors at NYSC who played music i liked, kept the energy up and didn't attempt to turn it into a motivational retreat. so...i promptly walked over to the NYSC and rejoined with their new promo rate of $20/month. a whole month of the gym is cheaper than 1 soulcycle class. You should walk in and ask for a free pass and try it out. But my personal experience was that it just isn't for me. read more
