Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

From sweating buckets in vinyasa to revelations in my postures in align ground to chillin' and meditating in restorative (which I fondly refer to as adult nap time), I find myself feeling transformed as I pour a complimentary tea before heading out for the rest of my day. Also, I have to say I really appreciate that many of Align's top instructors are black women. These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga.

Fort Pilates is a wonderful studio. I take the Open Reformer Classes regularly and I can honestly…read moresay every instructor I've had is really great. Super clear and knowledgeable. The studio itself is lovely, open, with beautiful light. I knew nothing about Pilates when I started and the instructors quickly got me up to speed where I could get the most out of each class. I have a very physical job, and these classes helped me find a new strength in my day to day. Thank you Fort Pilates!

Their waitlist system feels very predatory and does not foster a culture of attendance. It's one of…read morethe most frustrating experiences I've had with any class booking system in the city. I lost money on classes for which I had to waitlist weeks in advance, and if I don't constantly manage my waitlists, I lose credits for classes I can't attend. While they have a 12-hour cancellation policy for booked classes, it doesn't seem to apply to waitlisted classes, which is unfair. I bought a 3-pack intro offer and could only waitlist for classes 2-3 weeks ahead because everything else was full. If I get pulled into a waitlisted class I can't make, there's no way for me to drop it without losing my credit. Their support team refused to refund my money or credits, despite it being my first time making this mistake. The classes I attended weren't even full. All in all with $80 intro offer, I could only attend a single class. The whole thing feels like a money-grabbing scheme. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone.

I've enjoyed using my ClassPass account to take virtual yoga classes around the world. Earlier this…read moreweek I attended a Restorative Stretch class with Maya online through Zoom. I was looking for something different than my usual yoga class, so keep in mind, her Restorative Stretch class is NOT yoga. Because this isn't yoga, you'll also want basic equipment with you if you have it, such as a stretching strap, bolster, block and tennis ball. Maya said they tend to adjust the props needed for class based on what people have available at home, which is so thoughtful! The class focused on isolated stretches and working different parts of the body in unique ways with the props. I can tell Maya is a passionate, very intelligent instructor - she was excellent about verbally announcing modifications and checking in on the group. Studio Maya offers dance classes and core classes but no yoga. However, if you have physical limitations, you will be able to keep up in the Restorative Stretch class. It is slow-moving and thoughtful. I love Brooklyn, NY, and the next time I find myself there after the pandemic,, I would absolutely stop in for a class with Maya again!

Firstly, I'd like to mention that I have no experience with Pilates or yoga. On a daily basis, I'm…read moreengaged in boot camp or spin classes. So, it was a unique experience to have a slower pace class. The studio is massive and there's also a cute changing room that's got Moroccan themed lighting and pillows. The studio has water, water bottles, towels, and all the material you'll use in class (Bosu ball, mat, etc). As for the class itself, I took essential core and had absolutely zero idea of what I was doing. There were a lot of micro movements involved to work out your abs, but as a first timer, I felt lost and disoriented. The instructor, Maya, was of great help. She made sure I had proper posture and movement and gave me individual attention. I don't quite feel the core burn I had hoped for, but she explained the more you do it, the more you learn to isolate your muscles. She was a pleasure to meet and be taught by. Although this form of exercise isn't for me, I understand why others do it. I personally feel like you'd have to engage in it for several months to really understand the movements and see results. This studio seems to offer quality classes for those of you who are into Pilates and calisthenics. (:

And trust me, this phase of my life was not the "young, motivated, can't-wait-to-work-out" era. When I first walked into Len's studio, I was tired, unmotivated, and feeling a little too comfortable in my fluff. Somehow, he met me exactly where I was and still got results. Before we even talk training, let's talk about the studio. It is sleek, spotless, and beautifully equipped with everything you actually need. No chaos, no crowds, no side-eyes. Just a clean, private space that instantly puts you at ease. It smells amazing, it's immaculately maintained, and most importantly, it feels safe. Len is a true professional. No weird vibes, no pressure, no ego. Just focused, respectful, all-business energy that lets you relax and do the work. What started as "let me try this for a month or two" turned into consistent training twice a week for nearly nine months. That alone says everything. Len helped me rebuild strength, energy, and confidence without running me into the ground or forcing workouts I dreaded. My clothes fit better, my stamina is up, and I feel like myself again. I still have goals ahead, but thanks to Len, I'm back in the game and moving forward the right way. If you're looking for a trainer who prioritizes safety, delivers real results, and works out of a clean, private studio where you can truly focus on yourself, Len is it. Period.

I told and warned him I was in a very unwell physical condition and that's why I was seeking professional guidance, but he pushed me to the point where I was too fatigued to continue my workout and threw up. Still, I wanted to give it a shot because I was desperate to become healthier. But very shortly after I had to go to LA for work, and ended up staying here indefinitely. I am not sure when I will be coming back to New York. I asked Len if he would be willing to provide a refund given the circumstances, but he didn't even respond. I followed up asking for any response, even if it was going to be a no. I also called and emailed him, but he has completely ignored all my attempts to contact him. By the way, he never said that refunds are not allowed and that private training lessons expire after X months. I also never signed anything. I simply sent him money through Venmo because I trusted him and assumed business would be conducted in good faith. Even in the texts he agreed to a pause. You can call me naive or whatever, but I've never had issues with verbal agreements (which are legally binding) with past trainers. Lesson learned. I am posting this so no one else has to go through this and lose well over a thousand dollars. There is another review like this. After seeing this type of behavior from a business, I wouldn't even want to engage anymore. Screenshots posted for transparency.
