Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

From sweating buckets in vinyasa to revelations in my postures in align ground to chillin' and meditating in restorative (which I fondly refer to as adult nap time), I find myself feeling transformed as I pour a complimentary tea before heading out for the rest of my day. Also, I have to say I really appreciate that many of Align's top instructors are black women. These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga.

The studio space itself is large and gorgeous, with check-in and clothing for sale upstairs, and lockers, a chill out area, locker rooms and the studios downstairs. Eucalyptus cold towels are available for free to use before and after class in a mini fridge near the studios. There are 2 studios and the classes I've taken there have been Power (a pretty standard modern yoga class), Sculpt (more weight focused, but with yoga flows), Barre, Hot Power Fusion, Yin and 26&2. I truly do love them all, with Sculpt and Barre being my favorites and 26&2 being one of the most unique physical and mental challenges I've ever done...in extreme heat!! Towels and mats are available for rent or you can bring your own. Instructors are really cool and you can tell there's a community here. These classes are challenging. It's vital you drink water and if you're someone who gets light headed, consider a small snack before class. It gets to be over 105 degrees in the rooms. I always leave here feeling very cleansed from the physical purge of the exercise, as well as mentally refreshed from the challenge and zoning in that's required to be successful in the heat. I love this place!!

An update: The only reason for the 4 stars is due to the over crowdedness…read more I love Hot 8 Yoga it's been such a great experience since I joined. The classes are consistently amazing and "Most" instructors are top-notch. My only gripe is when classes get packed beyond reason. For example, a few Saturdays ago I took a Power class that had well over 40 people. I'm not sure if it was the instructor's popularity, but I've never seen a Saturday class that crowded. Overall, the instructor was good, but not sure why the class would be that packed. It's hard to move or even fully stretch when you're practically mat-to-mat. A simple solution might be to offer two Power classes back-to-back on weekends to help ease the crowding. When you see that one class has that many students, over 40, it would make more sense to split it or add a back-to-back session. It's just not ideal to be so tightly packed when you need space to move and stretch. Early mornings are definitely the best if you want to avoid the overcrowding. Other than that, I absolutely love this studio and recommend it to anyone looking for a solid yoga practice.

This was very beginner friendly, the instructor, Summer, was very personable and offered modifications to the exercise if needed. There are multiple stretches during the class which helped to slow down and catch your breath. I really enjoyed it, was definitely sore the next day but worth it. I also followed up and did a foundational class with Rosy, which was amazing to fully understand the various moves that are used in the classic classes. The instructors are all so friendly and remember your name. I appreciate the correction of my form while doing the workout, really helps motivate me during the classes. Rachel Eve, the manager, has been great as well - I don't think I would have continued to sign up if they didn't follow through but also to ask how my classes went! Love the instructors and environment - a lot better than some of the other studios that I have tried!

The only thing I noticed they didn't provide that other exercise studios usually do are hair ties and pads/tampons. They even have child watch. There is a space in the back with toys where someone can watch your child while you take a class. It is $15 and nice to have. The child area was a bit small and they said 5 children max. They take as young as 2 months. The instructor was fabulous. She really paid attention to form and was quick to correct you (but in a nice way) if you were doing it incorrectly. Every time she corrected me I felt the exercise get harder so I knew I was definitely doing it wrong before. On the weekends the classes get packed so it can feel a bit crowded in the room.

Seemingly catered to femme-presenting people, yet still offering strength training classes beyond traditional pilates, I thought it would be a good place to add variety to my usual routine. I bought the Newbie and Rookie class packs and had three wonderful classes. That said, I was deeply disappointed with the studio owner's response to an error with their notification system. A text message from their system told me my class was at "The Fit In." However, the class was actually at another location. I received no booking confirmation telling me of any other location and had not checked the website before leaving (like I had done before), since I assumed that the text was correct. Because of this, I arrived at the wrong studio and would be late for my upcoming class. I emailed the studio explaining the circumstances and apologizing for my absence. Because I had gotten comfortable at The Fit In and saw it as my new studio, I requested the missed class be rescheduled and hoped that, by drawing attention to this issue, the studio could prevent future confusions like mine. In response, the studio owner questioned why I couldn't walk to the other studio (after having already walked to the incorrect one) or drive there. I do not have a car. Less than half of NYC has a car. I told them that, while those were certainly options, I couldn't justify buying an Uber for a three-minute car ride and paying MORE to make up for their mistake. I also informed them that, in preparation for a fitness class, I was dressed to work my muscles, not walk against cold winter breezes. Their response? No-shows to classes are non-reschedulable, even if the reason for missing the class was because of their system. They also told me their messaging system does not mention which location class is held at (contrary to my screenshot) and questioned "how I got to my classes before." If you are looking for a community welcoming to newcomers, look elsewhere. They would rather gaslight their new customers than accept they made a mistake. Overall, I guess I didn't have the right Fit for this studio.
