I tried to look up what to expect and showed up super early to an afternoon class (which was smart because I took the elevator which doesn't go to the second floor, just take the stairs AND you have to fill out a couple of waivers as a first-timer) Remove your shoes upon entering the nicely clean studio, away from all of the noise below on Broadway. I got an excellent tour of as a new participant and they had showers and toiletries in the changing station. They had lockers which I didn't lock but used to store my bag and phone (which can't be brought in the studio, which I surprisingly liked as it forced me to be present as I waited for the instructor to arrive) The class was awesome! Great mix of ages and adaptable for the two pregnant women in the class. Everyone seemed to be having a rewarding time and finding a workout that pushed them. I am not a dancer. I have zero dancer experience. The instructor would come up to me once or twice and help fix my form quickly and nicely, without placing all of the attention on me, which I liked. I was motivated to keep up and maintain the correction, and I learned a lot by watching the women around me. Everyone was very friendly before or after class, but during I liked how I was able to focus by myself without everyone's eyes on me. I like how the pace slows down at times, and it isn't dark with deafening music like a cycling class I have done, where the atmosphere is intense and stressful. This is done through repetitive, testing movements which slowly strained and tired my muscles. By the end, we were doing an easy exercise for me, scissors, but my legs were TREMBLIng from some of the prior workout. This is proof to me how much my muscles were being worked and how they were properly active by the class and the instructor's detailed descriptions. For the one month of unlimited classes special (each class is ~45 min), I am currently waiting until after a spring trip to purchase the $119 deal. Without it is just too expensive for me right now (at $38 a class), as someone who can't always allot time to workout and is unsure of her schedule

Classes move fast with high reps that really make you feel the burn, targeting all major muscle groups in the upper body, lower body, glutes, and core. One thing I really like about Physique 57 is that the instructors do a good job of integrating rhythm/musicality into the exercises and maintaining an upbeat atmosphere throughout class. They're also great about providing individual attention and correcting form when necessary. In terms of the studio, I've visited all 3 studios in SoHo, UES, and NoMad. The NoMad location, which just opened a few months ago, is extremely new and by far the most gorgeous and spacious of the three!

I think they've been doing well with this and continuing to clean between classes. Masks no longer required in class. They've recently had a lot of new "deals" which is nice for regulars like myself. I really miss the annual unlimited, because I am paying so much more lately to take fewer classes. Thankfully, they're doing a summer three month unlimited -- I hope they continue something beyond that. More recently, I've been interacting with Brigid, their customer experience manager. I can really tell a difference in the quality of customer service since she's come on board -- she is very responsive and so pleasant, and she is extremely client oriented. For example, they transitioned from one fitness app to another to book classes, and it's been a problematic transition in so many ways. Not only did Brigid fix the issues, she also gave me some extra classes for the trouble. I finally feel valued for being a loyal client (there was a point in time when I wasn't feeling such a way). When there were some further issues, I reached out to her and she's been working through all of those issues with me. Can't say enough positive things about her. My only reason for dropping a star is that showers are still not back. I understood this immediately post pandemic (and they had to consolidate four studios' worth of belongings into one), but it's really difficult to schedule your day and get around the city without a shower option. I understand that times are tough, but class prices are higher than before, yet we also lack the amenities that we had before (showers, towels). Showers seem to be back at most other fitness studios. If the showers came back, I would definitely be more encouraged to take additional classes. The scheduling game is more of a challenge with this.

The studio space itself is large and gorgeous, with check-in and clothing for sale upstairs, and lockers, a chill out area, locker rooms and the studios downstairs. Eucalyptus cold towels are available for free to use before and after class in a mini fridge near the studios. There are 2 studios and the classes I've taken there have been Power (a pretty standard modern yoga class), Sculpt (more weight focused, but with yoga flows), Barre, Hot Power Fusion, Yin and 26&2. I truly do love them all, with Sculpt and Barre being my favorites and 26&2 being one of the most unique physical and mental challenges I've ever done...in extreme heat!! Towels and mats are available for rent or you can bring your own. Instructors are really cool and you can tell there's a community here. These classes are challenging. It's vital you drink water and if you're someone who gets light headed, consider a small snack before class. It gets to be over 105 degrees in the rooms. I always leave here feeling very cleansed from the physical purge of the exercise, as well as mentally refreshed from the challenge and zoning in that's required to be successful in the heat. I love this place!!

The classes are consistently amazing and "Most" instructors are top-notch. My only gripe is when classes get packed beyond reason. For example, a few Saturdays ago I took a Power class that had well over 40 people. I'm not sure if it was the instructor's popularity, but I've never seen a Saturday class that crowded. Overall, the instructor was good, but not sure why the class would be that packed. It's hard to move or even fully stretch when you're practically mat-to-mat. A simple solution might be to offer two Power classes back-to-back on weekends to help ease the crowding. When you see that one class has that many students, over 40, it would make more sense to split it or add a back-to-back session. It's just not ideal to be so tightly packed when you need space to move and stretch. Early mornings are definitely the best if you want to avoid the overcrowding. Other than that, I absolutely love this studio and recommend it to anyone looking for a solid yoga practice.

Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga.

I've gone to the trifecta of locations (Greenwich, Flatiron, and Williamsburg), and I think this location is one of my favorites with proximity to Union Sq trains and the open space of the studio. Awesome instructors who are very supportive. Class goes quickly since it's mixed with regulars who have often gone to Pure Barre in the past, but usually if you're newer the instructor pays more attention to your form and helps.
