What a great place to keep you motivated in our daily quest for a healthy living ... love Align Brooklyn ... Great classes and wonderful teachers keep it up !! read more

Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and it's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think. read more

Align has a roster of superb instructors teaching a range of yoga classes that meet my body's needs. From sweating buckets in vinyasa to revelations in my postures in align ground to chillin' and meditating in restorative (which I fondly refer to as adult nap time), I find myself feeling transformed as I pour a complimentary tea before heading out for the rest of my day. Also, I have to say I really appreciate that many of Align's top instructors are black women. These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga. read more

Recently moved into the area and decided to check out the $20 for a week of unlimited classes deal. First- the staff and everyone that attends are very nice, definitely a safe space for those who may not be as comfortable attending boutique fitness classes by themselves. Second- the space is clean and well-kept, there's tea available, and chapstick as well (a very important thing to point out in my opinion). The classes itself range both in time and type. I wish there were more morning classes (it's either sometime during 6am or 9am, no between), but somehow I was able to push myself to wake up at 6am. There are a lot of variety of classes, my favorite would be the Align Fusion (think mat pilates) and Align Ignite (think squats, weights on mat). My least favorite would be Align Core- it's mostly core workouts but I definitely did not feel like I had a work out at all, just a bit of a stretch and some crunches. Would be a good workout for those who are trying to get back into it! I wish the prices were a little lower for those who choose not to opt in the monthly memberships. Align is on Classpass though for those who have it! read more

Few years back I started to have back spasms, and they gradually became a serious back pain issue. I came to see Dr Brown in early 2016 to get a chiropractic adjustment, and it was the best decision that I made. At that point I saw few orthopedic doctors, had steroid injections, had physical therapy and went to yoga in hopes to get some relief. Orthopedic surgeons were pushing me towards a surgery for my chronic pain. From the first visit with Dr Brown I realized that I came to the right place. I had purchased few packages of chiropractic adjustments and Myofascial treatments that got me on the path toward recovery. Dr Brown strongly advocated against surgery and gave advice on stress management, dietary adjustments and overall support and encouragement. With hard work and patience I am no longer considering surgery as an option! read more

This place is super awesome! It's gotten me closer to my goal of getting a beautiful stomach than I've ever been before.

Visited Align and took Avi & Tara's Align Define (Barre) classes and they both killed me! (That means they're awesome!) Align is an beautiful studio space filled with all the fitness goodies you need to have a great experience in any of the cutting edge classes (yoga, HIIT, core, flexibility, cardio) that they offer - TRX, kettle bells, resistance bands, Bosu balls, colorful weights and much more that I know I'm forgetting. I mean, they really utilize the space well. Great floors, really cute bathrooms, neat and immaculate. I love it! The staff is super friendly, highly certified (so you feel safe) and welcoming. And bonus, Align also houses an in house Chiropractic office as one of the owners is a chiropractor, which is awesome because the spine is life! read more

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. ===== As a classpass-aholic, I first visited Align as a neighbourhood/local option for restorative yoga. The instructor (Ebony) was actually a substitute, but she did a great job despite a few technological fiascos (music issues and whatnot). The studio is beautifully laid out with a lot of natural light, and is spacious and clean. I've also taken a mat pilates class here which was nice but not challenging enough. Now the REAL kicker here are the workshop classes. I took a HEATED tabata/TRX HIIT class here at 6:30 this morning and got my ass royally handed to me. I consider myself to be in decent (not amazing) shape and I was definitely feeling the burn in my core by the end of the class during suspension pikes. If you're a slight masochist / like to push your body to it's limit in physical endurance, definitely consider the HIIT workshop classes. If you need to unwind and restore, definitely hit up one of the yoga classes! Great vibes all around. read more

I railed against taking yoga in a studio format for years - until I found Align. Everyone at the studio is friendly, helpful and upbeat, but also just generally fun to be around. I find myself looking forward to the class (a great variety, btw), and seeing fellow members as well as staff and instructors. Though a small space, it's a great environment where I feel inspired rather than intimidated. read more

I LOVE this place and everyone who works there. I've been seeing Dr. Brown for over a year for various issues (rotator cuff, periformis, general spine maintenance) and always leave feeling as though I'm walking on a cloud. He is very patient and thorough and always takes the time to educate me on what I can do to improve my posture. He is also super zen and I feel happier after seeing him. This week, I signed up for the $20 new student trial week to give their classes a shot. This deal means you have unlimited classes you can attend for 7 days!!! This is seriously a steal. I have gone to classes over the past 6 days and loved all of them, from the foam rolling to the Pilates. I never thought I would love yoga, but I do now. I've been guided by different teachers in these classes and they are all great and very knowledgeable. The other students in the classes have also been very friendly and there is absolutely zero pretension. read more

Pam and Chris are in this business for the right reasons, and it shows. The attention to detail at this place is amazing. The first thing you notice is how incredibly clean it is -- given the amount of sweatin' that's happening, that's saying something! There's also tons of natural light in the studio which adds to the comfort and good feels. The teachers are driven, passionate, and know their stuff. I'll review each class I take regularly below. Align 60/1:10 - Chris Brown: If you really want to get functionally fit and strong -- and I mean improve your balance, mobility, cardio and work all the muscles you need for sports and the daily grind -- this class is one of the best things out there. When I'm in a regular rhythm of going to this class, I find I can run longer in soccer, lift heavier stuff, and have more energy throughout the day. If Chris found he way to replicate this class across the country, he'd be ballin'. Chris can be a drill sergeant in class and may come across curmudgeonly to a newcomer, but he's actually a sweetheart and a very understanding and knowledgeable teacher. He helps you understand the science behind all the new movements he teaches you -- I think I've heard the "water!" and "shoes are sensory deprivation devices" soliloquies scores of times by now :) Align Circuit- Lizzy Boyle: Man, Lizzy is good! She pushes and pushes but never loses her cool. She's also very motivating because she goes through the entire workout herself, which gives her this badass "If I can do it so should you punk!" vibe. Great class, but be prepared to work -- there's no rest in this class at all. Yoga- Beau Dobrikov: Beau really helps you improve your postures and balance as well as your overall understanding of how your body works. I've been twice so far, but hope to make it a regular thing. I also love how she calls everyone "love" or "mama" and refers to everything as "a conversation." Administration: Pam, apart from being a cool lady, is very understanding about work schedules- I travel quite a lot and have an unlimited membership, and she's been great about working with me on membership freezes and such. It makes you much less squeamish about making a commitment. read more

Loved my class here last night! The reception area is very small, but they have really great changing rooms past the check-in desk. The check-in process for a new student was really easy. I rented a mat for $2 (ClassPass user). They also sell a ton of cute yoga accessories, healthy snacks, etc. The class was bigger than I expected/than I'm used to, but this wasn't a negative. The teacher was really great, and I loved using the wall! I've never done that before, and it was a lot of fun. The studio itself is really pretty, and the 7PM class was great for seeing the sunset through the window. read more

Quick update - my opinion of the rewards system has improved since they've switched over to the new system. I got a really cute tank this week for only 300 points. (And yes, they were intentionally size-inclusive - I was able to get a 2x that fit me comfortably!) At this point, I still have over 2,000 points to burn, but the new system has finally given me something to spend some of them on. read more

New yoga studio in Park Slope! It's located above Monk thrift shop. I went to a class last night "vinyasa on fire" with Lea. I've been doing yoga for 12 years (on and off) and enjoyed the unique flow of this class. It felt like part yoga part dance movement and she incorporated great music and her knowledge of getting chi/energy flowing in certain organs, muscles, and joints. The space is lovely. The yoga studio is a long light wooden floor room with large windows at the end overlooking the street. There are 2 small changing stations, 2 small bathrooms, and a chiropractic office. The owner Chris had a laid back, friendly California vibe and was very helpful. He is also a chiropractor, I'll be seeing him this Thursday. Both Lea and Chris were very knowledgeable about the body and energy, and were both positive people. I'll be back for sure! read more

What a great studio! Beautiful open space, lots of props, just such a nice vibe here. I have taken classes and taught a couple and the whole experience has been a delight, from the lovely Callie welcome dog to the thoughtful design of the room and the no-touch toilets. (The details do make a difference!) read more

I never thought I would leave the gym.... but I did. For Brooklyn Align. It's a boutique studio-- which really means, when I enter the studio, the owners know me, ask how I am doing by my name. The classes are small, which is one reason I am little hesistant about writing this review -- I don't want the best kept Brooklyn secret out! With every class, I am feeling stronger. I absolutely love Lizzie - she is really enthusiastic and passionate about her craft, as well as a naturally talented teacher. She is definitely challenging, but I feel like I can attain it. Her easy-going style mixed with lots of challenging exercises is a rare find. The ballet barre instructor, Kristina, makes exercises easy to follow and hard enough to make it worth my time. Before you know it, I am doing some cool ballet stuff that I never thought I could do -- all through the creativity and gentle encouragement of Kristina. It really is the best way to start the day!! The owners did such a great job finding all these instructors. I love the energy of the space. Who know? I thought I was a gym rat for life.... maybe not. read more

I started taking classes at this studio a few months ago. I love the Align classes, as well as the Pilates classes. The instructors are top notch. They give it their all to push you to give it your all. Try Align 110 if you want to start your weekend with an intense morning workout. Totally worth getting out of bed for! I feel very lucky to have this gem right around the corner. read more

Years ago I belonged to Pure, but I've since changed my focus to powerlifting. I want to do more mobility work so looked up yoga studios nearby and found Align. I took the flow (Vinyasa) class today with Jaclyn. The studio is small and fits about 25 people. It's clean, and there are cubbies outside to store your things. Jaclyn made a point to introduce herself to everyone new and asked what the focus should be--a couple people asked for arm strength and hip mobility. So, I lift really heavy barbells 4x a week. My shoulders were on fire during this class! I'm not used to getting burnt out and I had to drop down several times to get a second wind. I didn't dig her music choice, but recommend the class if you're looking for something more challenging than heavy breathing and pretty tree poses. read more

Came here on a classpass and I loved it! Warm and welcoming as well as beautiful studio! The class itself and the instructor (red headed girl, forgot her name) was great! I could feel each vertebrae adjusting and I left just feeling really great! The people who own the studio are really nice people as well. I had a chat with the owner who happens to be a chiropractor (I'm a massage therapist) and he was super cool and nice which is always refreshing in this city. I will def be back :) read more

I am filling a FTC consumer complaint against this studio for scam. My credit card was charged for a 8x membership after the student trial in October 2019 without my consent. In the same month while I was on an international business strip, my bank notified me of potential fraudulent activities on the same credit card, the account was immediately terminated. On 1/07/2020, an email was sent by Jackie from Align to ask for credit card information immediately, or a collection will be filed against me. On the same day, I've emailed the Align front desk about the fraudulent charges and asked for cancellation. Today, 01/16/2020, more than a week later, Jackie emailed me to request for $2012.70 to cancel a membership agreement that I have never signed up for and threating to file collection against me. read more

Overseas. I received an email from Pamela, who was the original co-owner to sign me up for my initial month. She is very articulate and acknowledged the way I was treated and spoken to. Offered to rectify the situation, while I may still be pretty disappointed with the way Chris spoke to me, I would consider returning after the co-owner was professional enough to reach out to me. Good business. Definitely try Barre Blend and Align 1:10 if you do go, just be sure to ask for any and all details regarding special pricing and monthly contracts. read more

I love the variety of the classes and the quality of the instructors. I can workout to my max level in the hitt classes, then recover with a yoga class, and then work on my core in the Pilates classes. What a great way to integrate fitness into your lifestyle. read more

So happy this place opened! The studio is clean and beautiful. The yoga wall/trx wall is great and really opens up exciting new options for supported yoga poses. I haven't been to all the classes yet, but so far I absolutely adore Frank Ricci's classes. He teaches a very pure form of yoga mixed with props that is an amazing approach to alignment. They also offer chiropractic treatments which I hope to use soon! This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. read more

I've loved all the classes I've taken at Align. I've particularly enjoyed classes with Sadia, Jaclyn, and Allison. I also love that Align aims to build community and provides workshops and events related to social justice. In terms of atmosphere, the studio is really welcoming. There is a nice balance in which classes seem accessible to beginners, long-time yogis, and everyone in-between. I appreciate that they offer classes at a variety of times--especially classes after 7:00pm because getting to Brooklyn after work before 6:00pm is never possible for me. I also appreciate the weekend afternoon classes because it's easy to squeeze in classes even when I have morning and evening plans. Their flexible (har har) schedule also helps make yoga more accessible. read more

I've been a month-to-month member for a while and it's a great way to go! I can try a variety of classes and instructors (though I definitely have my faves!) and the schedule is flexible enough to fit into my busy work life. The instructors are top-notch, the staff is great and the entire community is warm and welcoming. It's a comfortable environment, yet I still feel challenged. Working out here is a highlight of my day! Try the free trial week or a class package if you're not sure where to start. read more

On 9/26/18, i took a class called "Align 110" with Dr Christopher Brown. The behavior demonstrated by the instructor that specific morning @ 6:30 am was irrepressible. When it came to the TRX station, the instructor assumed that everyone knew what was expected. Another Caucasian female student asked twice to go over the instructions n the instructor gladly obliged. When it came time for me to use it " the trx, As i was taking my time, the instructor ran over, grabbed the handles, manhandling my trx n spoke to me in an very aggressive manner-shouty way.,I quote: " just get in it already. " He appeared to be out of sorts frustrated that i didn't know how to use it.. SMH. When it came time to rotate to the next station, i gather my belongings n exited the class bc i felt humiliated. I FELT ThAt THERE IS NO PLAce for that sort of behavior in an yoga-boutique studio. It is mind boggling and utterly offensive. In the past i took other classes, n the other instructors were pleasant n helpful. I will be reporting this incident to NY state.. KNOW YOUR rights. Always know ur worth.. read more

Love this studio, it's a small space but very well equipped. Staff and instructors are very helpful and friendly. The class itself was just OK to me. I thought the instructor was kind of boring. It was a yoga class. It is a preference. The space is narrow and long. It was clean. The staff was friendly. I came here via classpass because I live on the same block. read more

The owner is incredible. I tried out this studio after seeing them on ClassPass. I was impressed by the studio but left some honest feedback about not feeling like the class I went to was challenging enough. A few weeks later, I got a thoughtful response from the owner, Pamela, thanking me for my feedback and offering me a free month to come in and try other classes. She told me all of the classes and instructors she thought I would enjoy, and urged me to come back and give them a shot. I went in that same weekend and did two classes that were both great! This studio is clean and cozy, the instructors are lovely, and the owner excels at customer service. Loved Nicks Sunday class at 11am! I wish all studios treated their customers like this. read more

I love this studio! The experience from how I'm greeted when I arrive in the space, the tea offerings, the merch, the classes themselves, (including the props)! I also appreciate the package deals, so I can keep up with my exercise goals on a consistent and affordable basis. read more

Their yoga classes just aren't for me: too much incense (it gives me a headache and you just can't convince me a lung full of smoke is healthy) and spirituality. I prefer a more agnostic, athletic or stretching experience. This is clearly personal preference issue, as what I describe may be considered assets to another person. Otherwise, very nice facility and nice employees. We just aren't a match! read more

Align Brooklyn is my home studio and I couldn't be happier with my time here. I am going on 5 months as an unlimited member and I'm feeling better than I have in years. The teachers are top notch. They are incredible with offering modifications and guiding you through a strong practice. They offer adjustments and show you how to fix an element of your posture that is holding you back from achieving your full expression in your asanas. The staff is kind and friendly, and always willing to help you with anything you need. The studio design is excellent. There is enough room to practice and the props and mats they offer are high quality. Thanks Align! read more

I would like to express my frustration with this studio that I have liked for a long time. They have great classes for pilates barre and yoga, and they have one instructor, Lizzy, whose align fusion class will make you hurt for weeks but give you abs like you never dreamed in a couple of months. That said, they have become increasingly strict about cancellation policies and also their prices per class are steadily creeping up. And often there are subs or there are many different teachers, so you don't always know what you are getting unless you are very regular. Basically this place used to be worth the commute for me but I see them putting out all these promotions for "new clients only" and I'm deeply frustrated because if you miss a class, or cancel less than a few hours before, you will be charged anyway, and the value of a class is $25 at least, depending. If you live in Park Slope and have a very predictable life and enough disposable income, this is a good place for you. But frankly I've lost at least $100 in missed classes because I get stuck at work and I just can't afford to throw money away like that, especially since some of the classes are totally ho-hum and lackluster. I'll be renewing my membership to the much more economical and flexible planet fitness instead :) read more

This place is simply amazing. Very clean. Great staff. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and provide all services related to wellness

I love Align!! I've been a member for about a year and it has completely transformed my fitness routine. They have a great range of classes--yoga, pilates, HIIT, weights, barre, and more! All the teachers are fantastic. When I started I had a lower back injury and the teachers were (are) extremely knowledgeable about modifications for my specific injury. The studio is clean, with great equipment, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I'm so happy to be part of this amazing community! read more

This is a lovely studio full of lovely people! I was running late (thanks to the ever-reliable F-train...) and frantically called Align, letting them know that I'd be about 15 minutes late and before I could even ask if it was okay for me to still join my class, the woman on the phone reassured me that it would not be a problem and that I'm welcome in the class whenever I get there. This is pretty unheard of in NYC, where studios can often act as if they're doing you a favor by letting you even take the class! Moreover, when I arrived (out of breath and red in the face from running), she laughed about how it seems like the subways are always under construction when you're in a rush. She even let me borrow a yoga mat for free (I think there is usually a small fee for borrowing a mat) because I completely blanked and forgot to bring my own. The class itself was completely unlike any Pilates/yoga class I had taken before. The focus of this class was on posture and alignment, which I loved because I've had some back/neck issues that stem from bad posture and general weakness in those areas. Laura, our instructor, was so sweet and encouraging. Her enthusiasm about the moves/exercises we were doing was really infectious - I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the class. The class centered around using straps in the peg wall they have in the studio. For some of the exercises, we put our legs through the straps and went into downward facing down (which helped create opposition that we could use to lengthen our spines and side-bodies), doing a couple of hands-free variations. Then, we used the straps to open up our chests by putting our hands through the loops and sending our body weight forward (see the pictures for a visual of this). Finally, we did some nice hip openers on the floor and inversions using the straps that really helped lengthen the spine and allowed us to relax into the positions. This was definitely a new experience for me, but I enjoyed it, both due to the interesting and challenging content of the class itself, but also due to the lovely people at the studio. You'll definitely catch me back here again soon! read more
