Great bikram class this Saturday afternoon. I signed up for the two week beginner package, and it was very affordable. Hard to come by. The full class packages don't look too bad either. I'll definitely be taking advantage of them after my two weeks are up. Also, the instructor, Monica, was very nice and welcoming. I like that she mixed Spanish with English to get my vocab in practice. Great session! read more

Hi YTB, I wanted to share some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? Up until that class, I was really enjoying YTB.  Thank you for looking into this and responding. Tracy P.S. I tried emailing YTB, but there is no email listed on your site. I tried to DM YTB on Instagram, but it says "they don't allow new message requests from everyone." I sent a LinkedIn DM on Nov. 15, but no one replied. read more

This is my absolute favorite yoga studio in New York City, and I've visited many! As a yoga teacher myself, I became addicted to their hot yoga classes. The sessions are long, with some lasting up to two hours, and the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, kind and responsive. While I've noticed some younger teachers occasionally playing more modern music, which isn't my favorite, the overall experience is top-notch. The studio has the hottest rooms, which is perfect for hot yoga. I also want to mention that some of the two-star reviews are really unfair. If hot yoga isn't your thing, it doesn't reflect on the quality of this beautiful studio. Please keep up the amazing work and keep those rooms hot! read more

Long overdue review! I love yoga tribe! I've never been this consistent with a yoga practice until now. The 26 + 2 has really got me obsessed along with the other classes they offer. Not only that, the community in this space is so special. The team is very encouraging and so helpful, good vibes all around!! read more

Bikram isn't my thing but I wanted to give this studio a try. I took the 26+2 class on a Sunday morning. The instructor was nice and the studio itself is pleasant. My main concern was that the room felt overpacked. I think there were like four inches between mats. It did not feel safe at that very crowded capacity. Separately, I had a bad experience with some men who were likely regulars but acted entitled to a specific space in the studio (they were late to class). It did not feel welcoming. read more

I wish I could give more stars. This studio is my absolute favorite and I've been practicing yoga in NYC for 10 years. The space is nicely decorated and, being in a warehouse, has a very "brooklyn" feel. It's clean and lovely but there's not an ounce of pretentiousness. The focus is on the practice but there's a pretty consistent community which gives it a welcoming family feel. The teachers are awesome and have different styles so there's something for everyone. The classes are a definite workout but flexible and the studio gets HOT which I personally love. They also offer "heated" classes that are less hot if you don't want to be dripping in sweat. The owners (Roody and Jess) are absolutely wonderful. And it's by far the most diverse studio I've ever been to - all ages, races and genders. It's really such a special place, love YTB! read more

I was brand new to Bikram when I came here on a Groupon. I am hooked! The feeling you get after a class is amazing. Somewhat euphoric. I searched a few different Bikram Studios before I chose this one and I'm glad I did. This place is SUPER clean and not stinky which was important. I know a lot of places have carpet and I just would not be able to deal with that... This place is clean, hardwood floor. It really is a beautiful studio- has multiple showers and little cubbies for your belongings. I was a little nervous when I came to my first class but that quickly subsided. The instructors are all great and offered corrections where needed and were very encouraging. It truly is a judgement free zone. People of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and experience levels. They have towels and mats to rent and water/coconut water to purchase. Note: The reason I took away one star is because an instructor once caused a bit of a scene with a guy trying to leave the room. I understand that the MOST important thing in Bikram is to just try to stay in the room but this guy had clearly had enough. He felt sick and looked as though he was going to either throw up or pass out at any moment. He told the instructor kindly, multiple times, while standing there with his mat that he wanted to leave as she was guarding the door and telling him that it's best he stay. I imagine it was embarrassing for him and it definitely caused an interruption in the room at no fault of his own. read more

Full disclosure..... I kind of can't stand Bikram.  HOWEVER, there are so many things to love about this studio, that I enjoy doing it here anyway.  Here's a list: 1) The people here really are just wonderful, from friendly yogis to  instructors with diverse styles all the way up to the owners who are sometimes your classmates.   2) The studio is gorgeous and SPACIOUS.   3) Very Covid safe.  They require vacation cards and temperature checks. The big open airy space also makes me feel a lot safer about breathing and sweating indoors. 4) Their scheduling is awesome.  I work evenings and weekends so Im usually out of luck finding a good class unless its at 6am (not happening).  Yoga tribe has daily 10 am and noon classes.  Freelancers, gig economy workers, restaurant workers, swing shift nurses, this place is for you. 5) Not every single class is Bikram.  Ive really enjoyed core, true strength and balance, and vinyasa. 6) Its very public transit accessible..... although I walk from Crown Heights in about 15 minutes (post yoga park walk is a bonus) 7) They have lots of clean showers and blow dryers in the locker room if you're off to work or cocktails after class. 8)  All the classes are heated whether they're Bikram or not.   9) All the instructors Ive had have offered modifications or challenges specific and appropriate to individuals. 10) did I mention everyone is really nice? read more

I LOVE this studio. I've been doing Bikram for about a year now, and started coming to Yoga Tribe when I moved to New York in October 2017. The instructors are incredible - so far I've primarily had classes with Rasheda, Robbin, Denise, and Channing. Really great energy in the classes with a strong community vibe. Everyone is so welcoming. The facilities have what I need (I bring my own mat and towel so can't speak to that experience), and there are tons of classes. read more

This place is good for so many reasons: teachers who reflect the population of the neighborhood, it's an inclusive space, and they offer mats, towels, and water for a $1 each. It has both a coat and shoe rack at the front, and cubbies in the changing rooms, which also have showers. It's reasonably priced for a yoga class and you can save if you purchase a pack of classes. I've done yoga for about 12 years, mostly Vinyasa, and though I've taken a few Bikram and hot yoga classes, I've never done Bikram religiously. I started coming here earlier this year (before I got injured for a few months) and wanted to add bikram to my schedule, which includes running, bootcamp, pilates, and Vinyasa. But when I got back to full health, the summer came and went as did my running schedule, so I put off coming back until the colder weather started up again. But upon returning, I think this place has turned me off and I may just be sticking to hot yoga or try to find another bikram studio that's reasonably close. As much as I like Yoga Tribe and all that it represents, I'm not a bag fan of most of the instructors. While I understand that Bikram is supposed to be intense, I do find many of the instructors overzealous in their instructions and often lacking in their emotional reading of the room. Constantly drawing attention to students or making the class stop while you correct a person is distracting not only for all students but does the opposite of what you want -- the person getting called out gets in their head. I have been both the subject of that and the observer and each time, it was uncomfortable. I love adjustments and corrections but there are good and bad ways to go about giving them. If I do return, I will only be taking classes with Denise, who was the first instructor I ever took here, and is exceptional. She knew how to adjust her students (without drawing much attention to them) while also being encouraging. Overall, like I said, it's actually a great studio in a lot of ways but it has turned me off from the practice until further notice. read more

I've been practicing Bikram for nearly a decade now and was very fortunate and spoiled by my old school and very talented, even intuitive instructors (both in their 60's) who taught in a small studio in my hometown in Jupiter FL. I realize most instructors don't have 30 plus years under their belt so no instructor since has ever come close. Note to new yogi's: listen to your body first, it's very intelligent. Ease off when you need to, don't always listen to the instructor when barking orders.. sorry but sometimes they bark. Stay calm and move slowly if you are unsure about a posture. Think of it as a moving meditation. Many instructors recite the script mindlessly, and act like its an extreme sport. Not good. My advice to instructors: still have personality, and be as mindful as possible, feel the energy in the room. Be nurturing and inspiring but also know when a person needs to rest. I am grateful for my knowledge because it would be easy to hurt yourself if you were moving too fast which some instructors encourage. My favorite teachers Ive had here are: Sam, Robin, and Rasheda are excellent. Channing is detail oriented and gives you a solid class every time. Of course I haven't taken a class with all the teachers. I've only had one terrible teacher once here..and she is no longer here. Pros: The owners are really kind sweet people. The space is airy and very nice, tastefully decorated, no stinky carpet, good lighting! Nice changing room with showers. Con: the floor in the practicing room isn't level, (common for NYC) I noticed this in my balancing postures, some spots are better than others. Like any studio, you have to find your ideal spot or spots. Anyway could only make your practice stronger! Overall, its a nice place to practice empowering yourself with the Zen moving meditation of the 26 postures. Go forth yogis!! read more

Physically I was in a lot of pain the first time I attended a class. I have two herniated disc and sciatica. The heat in the room helped to alleviate the stiffness of my joints and made it so much easy for me to do the movements. My lungs cleared up from all the deep breathing and I had the best winter ever, after having had annual bouts of upper respiratory infections and bronchitis. I also had success with a weight loss of more than 40 lbs and that's with a body fat percentage that moved from 52% to 43%. Bikram is a challenge that is worth it. read more

This new Bikram studio is absolutely beautiful. So well put together with elegant touches throughout. You will love it from the moment you walk in. Regardless of your yoga experience the friendly and professional staff will make you comfortable with the Bikram practice. On a personal level: I'm not a professional yogi or an instructor. Bikram had incredible results on my lower back issues that I had several years ago. My doctor diagnosed it as "too much exercise" and recommended to ease off the higher impact sports. Bikram literally made these problems disappear. I highly recommend Bikram for anyone who enjoys the euphoric feeling of a good workout and Bikram Yoga Prospect Park is the perfect new studio to bring on that euphoria. -Namaste read more

I've been practicing in this studio since it opened and am very happy with it. The layout is pretty straightforward; studio space is light and airy, with high ceilings and huge changing rooms. The hot room is spacious and always clean (no carpet). The heat boxes and ceiling vents are high enough that they distribute the heat fairly evenly throughout the space. Overall, the room has a very comfortable air circulation going so it's hot but never stifling. Besides, the instructors open the doors from time to time and are very conscious of the temperature and humidity in general. Speaking of the instructors, they are very knowledgeable, helpful and always ready to answer questions. A teacher signs you in before each class and usually stays around afterwards to address any concerns you might have. So you get a nice amount of individual attention. The teaching styles among the staff vary: some stick to the dialogue precisely, some offer more corrections, some like it hot, etc. You can figure out what works for you pretty quickly, since there are several classes taught by different teachers on any given day. In addition, both studios offer 1 hour core class and intermediate class, which is a blast! If you are looking to deepen your practice or learn a few new tricks, Rebecca is your gal. Plus count on posture clinics and other cool community events from time to time. The community feeling definitely comes with the territory- no gym-timidation here. In fact, if you are looking for a supportive environment where to work on your physical and mental well being, ta-da! You've found it. Try the intro special or one of the other promos they run throughout the year: fall back, back to Bikram, anniversary special, you name it... Mats, towels and water are available in the studio so just bring yourself and your smiling, happy face :). See you in class. P. S.: I've taken Erin's class in the past and she was very courteous each time. She in a nurse and was very helpful to me once. I would definitely recommend her class. read more

Definitely a fan of this studio. I started out with the two week newbie deal, and have since been going at least once a week. Most of my classes have been with Channing because of my schedule, but I've had a handful of instructors and liked them all. Helpful and encouraging, but respectful of everyone's limits. I want to reiterate someone else's point about diversity - all skill levels, all fitness levels, all types of people. It makes the classes very welcoming and much less intimidating. Worth noting: the entrance is at 1120 Washington (or right next to the awning that says 1120). You'll see a door with their poster on it. read more

I've taken a couple of classes and I do agree that this studio is not as hot as it normally is in other bikram studios. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I find it easier to focus on my postures when I'm trying not to get a heat stroke. But it is hot enough that your muscles loosen up so you still get the bikram experience. As for the instructors, I've only had one so far that really focuses on the students. It's Not as crowded as most studios in the city, so it nice to get a little personal attention. Locker rooms are spacious but only small, tiny lockers for your wallets/phone etc. Prices are very reasonable as well. Very happy to have joined this studio. read more

I've tried many different studios over the years from Long Island to Manhattan to Brooklyn and Yoga Tribe Brooklyn is by far the best. The studio is always clean and decorated beautifully. They have many different types of classes available at all times of the day and night. But by far what separates this studio from the rest are the people. There is a very real sense of community here. The teachers make every person feel welcome and they address you by name. Whether you are a beginner, new to the studio, or have been practicing there for years their motto rings true: "every body belongs". read more

Inappropriate teachers who don't respect boundaries and they exploit their work study program. Really bad culture.

Did Bikram yoga here. It was hot enough to sweat up a storm and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. I loved the vibe!

I would like to start off this review by stating that this rating is not based on the studio but the instructors. I have been practicing here for over 4 years and love it. It's close to home, offers a lot of diversity, and the instructors mirror the essence of Brooklyn. They are diverse in ethnicity, age, sex, weight, and I adore that. The facility is clean, spacious, and cathartic. Here is what kills me about the instructors; a lot of them either talk too much or make the room extremely humid. Sometimes they do both and that blows my mind. Pick a struggle guys. One instructor, who I have not seen for some time, would literally leave us in postures forever while she trailed off to cater to one person. When I say forever I mean, the posture may be built to be in for 30 seconds but you'll be in it for 45-50 seconds. One time an entire minute went by and we had to reverse out of it before she instructed us to do so. We couldn't hold it anymore. After she realized this she says, "I didn't say to get out". What!? Ma'ame, I'm exhausted and we're still in the warm up series. Let's talk about humidity. A lot of them intentionally make it so humid to the point of suffocation. As I've mentioned earlier, I've been practicing at this location for years. I have been practicing (in general) for over 7 years. I know how to stay calm and breath in a hot room and understand that there are days where it will be humid. When the instructor boasts about the air in her room being thick, she leaves you in postures for longer than necessary, and half of the class cannot hold the postures because we cannot breath, she should reevaluate how she's leading. Don't feel proud that your students cannot handle the humidity and think that it's because you're a tough teacher. It has nothing to do with that but everything to do with you making this experience excruciating for us. On another day, an instructor talked so much that the class ended 10 minutes passed the 90 minutes. This week I developed the worst headache due to one woman talking excessively. Even while in savasana she ran her mouth. It was agitating to not have that peace of mind. Something that we all come here for. With all of this being said, I took a class with Roodolph and it was amazing! He was very detailed but did not have to say a mouthful. I found my body moving and correcting itself with his words without feeling overwhelmed and drained. I was surprised to see that he kept the windows open the entire time, however the class was still working a great amount of sweat. Just comes to show that you don't have to set the heat on level Hades in order to prove a pt. His focus was on the specifics of each posture and not on how long he can make the class struggle. When class was over we had 5 minutes still remaining. That day was one of the few great days I had. I wish he taught the 90 min classes regularly. I love the instructors as ppl but at this pt I now look at the schedule to see who I can avoid. Side note, why is Robin no longer there? She was perfect read more

I signed up for a 2 week trial at this location (I've already taken Bikram classes in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and throughout Manhattan). This location was nowhere near as hot as it should be. I did not sweat nowhere near as much as I do at other locations. Wasn't fond of the instructor's style either. It was too militant. I was disappointed. There are tiny lockers in the locker room. Any bigger item must be left in an open cubby-style shelf. Only one person is working at this location at a time. If you try to call or walk in wanting information for signing up for a package, you will not be helped. They really should have at least two people working here. read more

I'm thrilled that I have this yoga to go to. I've been to several studio in NYC and around other parts of the country, and my home studio is by far my favorite. The facility is clean and convenient to public transit, but the teachers are by far the factor that makes this studio stand out from the others I have to choose from; they are diverse in every way, and each one has something special and unique to offer, so if you have a teaching style you prefer, you can always find what you want here. I have been practicing for several years now regularly, and I have discovered that this form of yoga not only enhances all my other physical activities, it is a great stand-alone form of fitness and health aid. I could go on and on about how I've benefitted from this, but let's just say that I haven't felt this good in years, overall. I still need body work from time to time, but I don't need it as often and it maximizes the effect of it when I do need to see a practitioner. In this type of yoga there is a strong emphasis on the physical practice, but I find myself calmer and more patient in difficult situations, so I guess I really am meditating. read more

Love this place... the instructor, Gabrielle, is really good.. but the end of the class I feel the burn and relaxed at the same time...

I have a membership at another Bikram studio that I love, but have come here to squeeze in a couple of one-off classes when in the area, and I really like this place a lot. The lobby area and women's locker room spaces are especially airy and lovely. Class prices are fair and alkaline water refills are available for $1. I'm not one of those people who is freaked out by the traditional carpeted Bikram studios, but if you are, you'll love the cork floors and total lack of funky smell here. Some reviews mentioned that the studio room is not as hot as other Bikram studios, but my guess is that the room is just not evenly heated, which is common, and you just have to choose the right spot. I was right near the wall vents both time and was literally baking- my metal water bottle was actually almost too hot to pick up. Both classes I took were with Rasheda - it's clear she is a truly awesome Bikram instructor. She gave me some great insights that I haven't gotten before; if you're a regular Bikram practitioner, I highly recommend checking out one of her classes for a fresh perspective. read more

Now when I get up in the room she asked me what parts of my body I tender and And I believe I did a decent job of telling her what parts of my body are in pain and what parts of the body are not Sidenote I was recommended by a friend because I got hit by a car a month ago and my believe I told her that so she proceeds to do about eight needles in total and leaves me laying on the bed for the rest of the time being while she takes care of her other customers in all honesty the way I felt like I was cheated today this serviceIs only worth $25 but I paid 40 because she told me that it's 25 if you can afford the base rate of 40 or 60 you guys really need to work on your business and the way that it runs, very hard for new people it's extremely confusing and I will not be attending ever again or recommend this to anybody else Sad part is I was looking forward to give you guys a good review on my YouTube and Instagram page but thank you very much for the waste of money and time read more

I've practiced Bikram yoga for 5 years and this is by far my favorite studio. There is an immediate calming effect when you walk through the door. The studio floors are bamboo so it stays very clean considering the amount of sweating happening in the room. BYPS is an outstanding place to practice- the Lefferts studio in particular. Sans carpeting, the studio remains on the fresher side, and the facilities are gorgeous. It was my zen spot, and the teachers are really aligned and push you to work hard and rest hard without creating a yoga boot camp vibe like some places where Bikram is taught. It's a great studio with lots of space, including the locker (women's) room. My experience with teachers is mixed, my personal pet peeve in yoga class is too much talking; good clear instructions are critical but it's not necessary to fill every breath with repetition or chatter! Otherwise my experience is good. But what's going on with the new 1 hour class??? The online schedule said the 10 AM class Sat 9/26 was a 1 hour but turned out it was 90 minutes. the teacher had no clue and worse, there was another teacher taking class who flippantly commented "it's a typo... it's been there awhile..." I guess we're supposed to be psychic.... read more

This is a fabulous yoga studio. The whole place is gorgeous -- lots of natural light and hardwood floors -- and the whole place is well-maintained. The schedule provides lots of options every day. I think I've taken a class with each of the instructors (there are about 10 I think), and I have never had a bad class. The changing room is spacious and clean and there are enough showers so that you don't have a big line-up after class. The thing I love most about this studio (I go to the Lefferts location) is that it really feels like a neighborhood place, and that there are lots of different kinds of bodies who practice here. I feel like there isn't any of the body policing going on here that I've experienced in other studios -- and there is a body diversity in the instructors too, which I find reassuring. Also, people practice wearing lots of different kinds of clothes -- again, no policing about having the right kind of gear. There are people of all body shapes, ages, races, and abilities who practice at the Lefferts Studio, which makes it a great place to get to learn Bikram. read more

I really like this studio. I've only had one or two teachers that I was not a fan of- mostly because of aggressive attitudes- but everyone else has been great. I particularly love the 60 minute core classes- so challenging! The studio itself is beautiful and well maintained, a really unique space. I'm not sure why a hot yoga studio would charge for water (seems cruel!), but if you don't want to pay, just be sure to bring enough to last you through the class. read more
