I recently took advantage of the $40 Welcome Week special which allows you to take Unlimited classes for an entire week. I took a handful of classes that ranged from the Candlelit evening class from a couple of Sculpt classes. I've taken Hot Yoga courses in the past before therefore the 110 degrees studio did not bother me at all. I thoroughly enjoyed each class that I took, especially the Candlelit class. The staff and instructors are welcoming, friendly, and professional. Both the studio and restroom are spacious and clean. I'm looking forward to taking more classes here in the future. Aside from the Wi-Fi service being pretty bad, everything went well.

Sunday is self-care day for me. It was nice to end the week with a yoga class at Hot 8 yoga. I took sculpt; it was taught by Jane. It was intense. She made us do burpees, jumping jacks and mountain climbers. I was relieved that she opened the door a couple of time. Otherwise, I would have been one of those people who stepped out for a few minutes. There was a small group who left in the middle. I get it; it was really hot in there. Moreover, there was no air circulating. I highly recommend bringing a long towel or rent one. During the plank position, my forearms were sweaty, and I was sliding a couple of times on the yoga mat. Also, a large bottle of water is a must.

Hot 8 has been my go-to hot yoga studio for the last few months. Their sculpt class (the other classes offered didn't get hot enough in my opinion) is my favorite. It's challenging, upbeat and fun. I love how each teacher has their own playlist that syncs perfectly with the class. Most instructors come around and hand you a cold eucalyptus towel at the end of class while you're in savasana, and it's the highlight of the class for me! It's the best reward and transition after you've put in all the hard work. Some of my favorite instructors are Amelia, Jane, Jacob and Jake. The studio is spacious with multiple changing rooms equipped with lockers and showers. I feel stronger and fitter after committing to 3 classes per week for the last few months. I highly recommend the Hot 8 Yoga studio!

The studio is beautiful, super clean, and has two good-sized rooms with nice flooring--kind of a nylon-type covering. It's hot (which I love!), but if you're not into heat, this might not be for you. You'll sign a quick electronic waiver when you arrive. They've got a solid one-week intro deal for $40. Instructors are friendly, the class is well-balanced, and the music + sequence are on point. Men's showers were out, so that was not a plus. I will be going throughout the week. Limited street parking. Close to trains.

I did want to try Sculpt for strengthening but am glad I didn't considering my gym session earlier in the day.

Without expecting it, this class was exactly what I needed!…read more I work at a non-profit where I currently practice immigration law under Trump, representing LGBTQ survivors of violence on asylum cases and domestic violence issues. My job has never been easy, but these past two years have been particularly grueling and frustrating. I often find myself having to hold my feelings of rage inside me when I am at court or at my office. For example, sometimes I want to just scream at an immigration judge or officer because of all the unfairness but I can't and I am forced to bury my feelings. I'm left walking around feeling overwhelmed, angry, and depleted. Sometimes I feel like I have zero energy to even make myself a healthy meal, let alone take care of my body physically and spiritually through exercise and meditation (which I used to do a lot of). Besides my stressful job, I'm also dealing with other everyday struggles ranging from overcoming childhood trauma to dealing with the messed up dating scene in New York City (hello f*ck boys). I've been trying to work on myself by being in therapy, journaling, and traveling. In fact, I just came back from a 10 day solo trip to Bali, Indonesia where I tried different forms of meditation, yoga, breathwork, and healing rituals. These were all lovely experiences for me and touched me in different ways. But, while the trip was amazing in its own way, I came back to New York in search of something more permanent and sustainable--and I think I found it with The Class. I took my first class yesterday with Zöe LePage, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. I came based on the Yelp reviews and a little research (I can't believe how little reviews this place has on Yelp!) Anyway, the class combined a little bit of everything I needed--an intense cardio workout, meditation and healing affirmations--all in a beautiful and serene setting that was not stuffy and overcrowded like the usual studio in New York City. The Class is an intense cardio workout with intermittent breaks between exercises for pause, rest, and contemplation. I never had this before in a Yoga or exercise class. The intensity builds up during the course of the hour, having you push yourself and question your limits. Of course, the teacher reminds you to check in with yourself and notice the difference between pain and discomfort. She is careful to tell those who feel any pain to adjust or hold off on a move, while those feeling discomfort should question their own discomfort and work through it. I don't remember the last time I sweated so much. I don't want to make it seem like this class was a miraculous end all to all of my problems--it wasn't. This class won't impeach Trump, it won't undo what I went through as a child, and it certainly won't find me a boyfriend in New York City. But what it did to was leave me feeling like I was on the road to a more sustainable and intentional way of living. I was left feeling more confident and powerful with new tools to tackle my hurdles--tools which I learned I have within me. I'll be back for sure! Thank you, Zöe and the rest of the team at The Class.

You get to decide how much you push yourself and he's supportive of it. Certain coaches are unenthusiastic in general and don't quite work with you individually to improve form. Otherwise, a clean and pleasant space with a friendly front desk team also. My only other reservation about this location is that I was removed from a 10AM waitlisted class at 3AM. Since I'm a new member and was unaware waitlist changes could happen overnight, it was frustrating. I called in immediately in the morning to explain I didn't realize it would remove me from the waitlist overnight, as I couldn't make it in time for 10AM without an advanced warning. The representative said no worries, she'll waive the late fee as a courtesy by checking me in to the class. Surprise surprise, I have a no-show fee on my card.

It's genuinely the only workout that kept me fit before pregnancy and helped get back my pre-baby body post pregnancy. The Williamsburg location is in the south side, so if you live around here you need to absolutely check them out. If you live further north, it's a hike but the b62 will get you here. Chris Kerr is the best! He is technical, in that, he makes sure you get it right and not just row like a maniac. He walks you through the machine and it's nuances and set it up to help you achieve your individual goals. The classes are usually a blend of floor exercises and rowing sprints. The rowers are generally well spaced so you can workout without a mask but depending on the class, it could get cramped. They clean them down after every class and generally maintain clean premises. I would also recommend Will Hutchinson's Signature classes. I'm so glad they are here in Williamsburg and I'll be here every week for as long as they are here.
