A brick wall features a neon sign that says "Insult the Standard" in a well-lit indoor space with exercise bikes in the foreground.

Let me set the mood real quick... The lights go down, sounds from Jay-Z, Ice Spice and a Jersey Club Mix (high school nostalgia big time) fill the room and the words 'Insult the Standard' is glowing on the wall. The instructor is guiding you through a challenging workout yet giving you all the inspiration that you need to keep going. This is what an experience at Spiked is like and to be honest I think I am hooked. This Black/women owned business deserves all the flowers! The experience will have you feeling like you're at a day party AND getting a great workout in all at the same time. The staff is friendly and the music will have you sanging the entire time. I've been to 2 classes thus far and really appreciated the focus on supporting all-levels and making everyBODY feel comfortable in the space. You can definitely tell that the heart and soul of the business is alive and well here. They offer a 'New Client Special' of 2 classes for $25 and they're also on Classpass making this workout very accessible. If you're in the NY area, run... don't walk and go take class here. Maybe I'll see you there :)

What an awesome black/women- owned spin studio this is!! I'm terrified of spin classes based on previous experiences but I had such a great workout here. Everyone is so friendly, check-in is super easy, and they have lockers where you can store your belongings. The space is pretty small so don't expect locker rooms or showers or anything like that but they do what they need to do! Armande's class was super fun and challenging with a great playlist! (I'm slightly biased because I know her but still!!). Parking early on Saturday morning was super easy with lots of metered spots available in front but by 10ish the streets get busy so might be harder to park. Will definitely be back for more classes!

Let me start by saying i used to HATE spin classes. I've tried Soul Cycle, Flywheel (RIP) etc. You name it, i tried it and hated it. Same moves, it's like every instructor has the same copy & paste routine. and Why does the music always sound like your shopping at Macys? Who gets motivated by that? not me lol Let me not drag it lololol.... Anyways... Spiked Spin literally made me fall in love with Spin classes. The energy and passion of Spiked Spin's team is unmatched - from the front desk staff to each instructor, It's impossible to leave this place in a bad mood. Aesthetics are on point! From the hip hop collage at the front of the class to the Lil Kim bathroom, you're not leaving without snapping a pic for insta lol i've been to (almost) all the different instructors classes and have not been disappointed once. You are going to get a bomb ass workout in and have fun doing it! Each instructor has their own style and combinations and it never feels like the same class. Did i also mentioned it's Black owned? ANDDD WOMAN OWNED?! i mean helllooooooo *insert heart eyes* My one and only critique is that there aren't enough locations. There needs to be a SS everywhere lol Hurry up and book a class, wtf are you waiting forrrrrr?!

Today I experienced my first (ever) spin class. I was nervous, scared, slight intimidated, and well just not sure I could do it. I almost turned back. I booked a 7:30 am class thinking if it's early enough the class size would be small, with a bike in the back to minimize my exposure, and get out of the way of more seasoned riders. Well, guess what?!!!! I had nothing to worry about!!!! My instructor was Cecilia and she's amazing. While I may not have hit every move perfectly I completed the class. Cecilia was encouraging, gifted with motivation, and the music she played will keep you on your feet. Atmosphere in studio was relaxing and calm (with a side of turn-up), staff was Uber friendly, and the towels were glorious - soft, warm, and slightly scented. I highly recommend Spiked Spin!!!!!

Tried this place out today and fell in LOVE! I had an evening class with Cecelia, where I was greeted pleasantly by the front desk. I made a reservation ahead of time ($15 for first time riders). Cecelia set me up with shoes (bring your socks!) and helped me adjust my bike to ensure comfort while riding. Such a fun ride! Great music! Great energy! Very welcoming for first time riders as well. I broke a SWEAT! Bonus: It's black owned. Very professional! This will be my regular cycle studio.

Inside the bathroom. - Six black-and-white portraits of a woman with long hair are displayed on a wall, arranged in two rows of three, with a pinkish lighting.

It's so refreshing to have a cool cycling studio that's so close to home. What's even better is that it's black owned with a mostly black clientele. I took the express 35 minute class, which really hit the the spot for me. I'd rather a shorter intense class over longer ones. I will definitely be back next week.

You get to decide how much you push yourself and he's supportive of it. Certain coaches are unenthusiastic in general and don't quite work with you individually to improve form. Otherwise, a clean and pleasant space with a friendly front desk team also. My only other reservation about this location is that I was removed from a 10AM waitlisted class at 3AM. Since I'm a new member and was unaware waitlist changes could happen overnight, it was frustrating. I called in immediately in the morning to explain I didn't realize it would remove me from the waitlist overnight, as I couldn't make it in time for 10AM without an advanced warning. The representative said no worries, she'll waive the late fee as a courtesy by checking me in to the class. Surprise surprise, I have a no-show fee on my card.

The Williamsburg location is in the south side, so if you live around here you need to absolutely check them out. If you live further north, it's a hike but the b62 will get you here. Chris Kerr is the best! He is technical, in that, he makes sure you get it right and not just row like a maniac. He walks you through the machine and it's nuances and set it up to help you achieve your individual goals. The classes are usually a blend of floor exercises and rowing sprints. The rowers are generally well spaced so you can workout without a mask but depending on the class, it could get cramped. They clean them down after every class and generally maintain clean premises. I would also recommend Will Hutchinson's Signature classes. I'm so glad they are here in Williamsburg and I'll be here every week for as long as they are here.

So thankfully, there are unique classes like trampoLEAN out there that keep my workouts exciting so I don't have to drag myself to the gym every time I want to work off the 3 desserts I likely had the night before (#facts). I signed up for the trampoLEAN rave class, thinking that it would just be a fun, little workout on the trampoline where I might sweat a little. HAH. Boy, was I wrong. This is a LEGIT workout, and I guarantee that you will be sweating. A lot. It's basically 50 minutes of non-stop cardio on your mini trampoline, complete with resistance bands (free ones and ones you pull from the ceiling), weights, glow sticks, and of course, rave-y music. Not only did I have a blast jumping every which way on my trampoline (after I got over my initial fear of falling and busting my ass ofc), but it was a great workout! I DEF felt like I burned off most, if not all of my 3 desserts from the night before (thank god so I'll be able to have another 3 desserts the next day), which is all I really want in a workout class. Will 100% be back for another trampoLEAN rave class in the future!

BEST CLASS EVER, PERIOD…read more This review is for the the Sculpt classes. Let me start off to say that I have taken almost 500 classes via classpass and through other studios all over the country, and I have to say that the sculpt class taught by Katia was amazing. Plus: instructor's enthusiasm, overall energy, music, moves, and structure of the class was all cohesive and layed out very well. I was looking for a sculpting class that would build lean muscles instead of bulk me up and this class definitely did it's job. There was constant movement, so you also got a decent cardio burn as well during the class. Cons: Space. At times, it felt so hot in the room, so not sure if they had their aircon on. But hey that allowed me to sweat all my impurities out. As with all classes via classpass, I measure my overall satisfaction based on 2 things--did I walk out of the class or would i purchase a class (gasp now, outside of the classpass membership). For this studio and especially this sculpt class I would definitely purchase classes outside of class pass. Good job Katia, keep up the good work!
