I have yet to try the indoor classes, but the outdoor classes at BYKLYN Yard are great! I'm not someone who loves to work out, but I look forward to these classes and always leave feeling good. It feels very safe for covid too. Bikes are 6 feet apart, masks required when entering and exiting, bikes and headsets thoroughly disinfected before each use, etc. They have heaters for the winter now. No bathroom, and you need to bring your own water bottle. They sell little Poland Spring bottles. I believe, if needed. I also love the diversity of the class participants. All ages, body types, races, etc. The theme rides are fun, and I found that trying out different instructors was the best way to narrow down the teaching style and music I liked best . Membership is a little pricey but unlimited membership includes towel and shoe rental.

Being faithful to RYDE by revolve for some time now, I decided to try out BYKlyn because it's much closer to where I live. It's conveniently located near many trains, so it's easier to travel to. Now that I can compare my experiences, there's some pros and cons that may help you decide if you want to purchase classes here! Pros: -the staff is extremely friendly. -affordable prices (they've even got a 2 for $20 newbie special). -clean bikes, towels, and free water refill station. -bikes are spread apart well as not to clash into other riders next to you. -bathrooms in case you need to change. -a variety of weights in the weight section. -Byk & Boot class has an intense boot camp section. I highly recommend this class! Cons: -There was too much focus on the screen and going by the RPM/#s. It became more about the #s then pushing past your limits. -With the two instructors I've taken so far, there was no choreography involved. It was either sitting, running, or pushing resistance. The lack of choreo made the class go by slowly. Ultimately, Byklyn seems like a community based studio that is modest in what it offers. As many reviews mentioned, it's not pretentious like many studios in the city tend to be. The instructors seem genuine and passionate. I'll be checking out the various instructors to get a better feel of things and I hope some of them have a higher, more energetic pace! :)

Such an awesome place! Feel great after every class!

I took my first class at BYKlyn in January. I was looking for a fun way to get back into exercising after a lot of binge eating during the holidays. So I signed up for the 2 for $20 newbie package. BYKlyn offers a variety of classes throughout the week with morning, evening, and limited midday classes. I found the evening classes to fit nicely with my schedule. After my first class I was hooked! The energy in the studio is fun, laid back, and professional. It is true what some of the other reviews have mentioned there are no locker rooms/ showers here and there are a bunch of hooks to hang jackets and shelves to store any larger bags. There can be a wait for the bathroom if you plan on changing here so you'll want to arrive at least 25 mins before class( I try to change before I get here). Nevertheless, I think you truly get what you pay for at BYKlyn. The studio is always very clean, water in the cooler, and towels on each bike. Another thing I really like about BYKlyn is the sense of community. After my 2 intro classes I bought a few 5 class packages and then joined the March and May challenges in which rides are unlimited. Within a few classes the front staff was greeting me by name which is a great feeling. All of the instructors are very personable, encouraging, and knowledgeable about their craft. For your first ride, someone will assist you setting up your bike which is very helpful and they are always available for any questions you might have. Shoes are included depending on which package you buy or a few dollars per rental. Overall, I've really enjoyed the experience I have had at BYKlyn so far and would recommend to anyone looking for a fun community based workout.

Full disclosure - I'm a hard-core Soul Cycle addict - but I need a change. I've heard Bklyn teachers don't use any choreography & focus too much on RPMs and gadgets. Can anyone speak to this? I just need a great workout with lots of movement. Thx!

Oh hey Melissa. Thanks for writing and thinking about giving us a try. We are different than Soul Cycle. Many find that fabulous and refreshing and others perhaps not. Key is what works for you so you can keep doing it and getting the results… Read more

I typically don't enjoy cycling classes, but out of all the ones that I've taken, this one was my favorite. A big reason was because it was relatively low pressure. The instructor was so friendly and the room seemed to have a calm yet welcoming vibe to it. It definitely had moments of motivation, but it wasn't aggressive. Brandon was fantastic, as were his song choices. I enjoyed how the class was in the dark but had cool studio lighting and candles. My favorite was how the seats actually were able to be adjusted for someone under 5 foot tall. I was excited that there was a small weights section of class, but it didn't really feel like it did much. There are lockers upstairs and downstairs, as well as bathrooms and showers for use. You can rent cycling shoes there and leave them in a bin for cleaning afterwards. Yeah If you really enjoy cycling, I think this class is worth it. I probably will not come back anytime soon as I just started a different gym membership, but if someone invited me to another class, I would definitely attend.

Every single one I have ever had has always been extremely intense and will work out just as hard if not harder than you during the class. Heidi was no different. Not only was she awesome before class - helping us rookies to Rush Cycling ( which btw, is a spin class on a bike that can lean right and left, so you can get a more full bodied workout), but during the class, watching her KILL it on her bike, while motivating us to keep going, that really left me in awe. At the end of one of the runs, she left out a huge "whooooo" which as any spin person knows, is that moment at the very end, after you've wanted to give up for the last 2 minutes, but you didn't, you kept going, and now you are basically letting it all go by giving yourself a verbal high five for slaying it. It's just cool because spin instructors really work out and work out hard with you. That makes you feel like you can do it too. that alone makes me want to come back. A couple of other things: 1) If you've never done this before, you will feel pain the next day. It might even be hard to walk or sit. Factor that into your plans 2) There is parking in the area 3) Rush Cycling is on the Third Floor of the New Brunswick Center. 4) The studio has towels, butt pads you can borrow for the class, and water for purchase.

Rushcycling has a special kind of bike that maneuvers left and right as your riding. It is tricky to understand at first but after a few classes you will get the hang of it. One tip for all newcomers that want to try spin, the next day, your inner thighs and behind will be in pain caused from the seat of the bike. This is normal! For most people, they don't sit on bikes that often, so it's an adjustment. Can't wait to be back again!

The spinning class was taught by Paul and he pushed us HARD. He also made sure everyone was all set in the beginning, had a set of weights for arm exercises, and sometimes check people's forms while spinning. He kept me motivated to keep going and had great music. One thing I didn't like was that the bikes don't have a number for the resistance level; you just turn a knob and judge it based on how difficult it feels riding the bike. My opinion is that a quantifiable factor makes way for measuring improvement in fitness levels and health. The total body conditioning class was taught by Tom and I don't want to give away too much, but the class was amazing. It truly was total body; I came away with everything feeling sore in a good way. There were two sets of each workout (which equates to a round, for me) and then we jump rope 100 times. Each set had a variety of moves, some of them new to me, and I've already done many workout videos and been to other fitness classes. The workout area was also unforgiving yet encouraging. It was dim and mostly black, with the materials needed for the workouts all set up with minimal space taken up. However, we faced each other and Tom when working out, so this egged us on. In response to other review(s): Yes, this place isn't very big overall and doesn't seem to have the locker room that conventional gyms have. I always come in my gym clothes and leave in my gym clothes, and I literally only bring my phone and a water bottle. I also can't speak to how much each class costs and whether it's worth it or not, but judging by experiences themselves, I certainly enjoyed the classes.
