Soul Made Cafe located along Spadina Ave near Cecil St. serves up a variety of unique drinks as well as cakes, madelines, and toasts. This is actually their third location within the GTA, their first being in North York and their second location in Richmond Hill. Their downtown location is located in the heart of Chinatown where there is seating to enjoy your drinks and food items as well as work in a chill, minimalistic space.
I've actually been to the Soul Made in North York previously but I was still curious to visit their downtown location. The location is completely accessible. They are still amidst of decorating the space as there are empty shelves throughout the store.
The menu consists of a large variety of unique caffeinated and non-caffeinated drink options. Think cheesy Americanos, pineapple Americano, bayberry Americano, Kyoto grape Americano to black tea lattes, osmanthus ;lattes, longan jasmine lattes, tiramisu lattes. They also have coco watermelon, cheesy coco water, coconut mango with rice pudding drink and Thai milk tea. A truly unique menu where it would take your days to drink your way through the beverage selections!
Food wise they have creme brulees, savoury pocket sandwiches, madeleines, butter mochi cake, as well as basque cakes with cute smiley faces on their slices.
I stopped by Soul Made Cafe on a Monday early afternoon. The place was half full where mainly students were enjoying their time there mostly on their laptops. After looking at the menu, I opted for a cheesy Americano and also got 3 madelines (classical lemon, gold leaf matcha, and earl grey tea).
Service was friendly and staff were understanding that I needed time to decide as I was getting overwhelmed with all the choices on the menu! After paying, my order was made at a reasonable time. The cheesy Americano was really great. The cheesy foam on top was salty and slightly savoury which added another dimension to the Americano. I can't wait to return to get another cheesy Americano - that's how much I enjoyed it!
Overall, a great new addition to Chinatown for unique caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverage options as well as savoury pocket sandwiches and desserts. Can't wait to return for more! read more
