Here are just a few photos of the work performed after an 8 1/2-year "restoration." I'm honestly heartbroken at how this all turned out. This car isn't just a car to our family. It has history. It was given to my daughter-in-law for her 16th birthday, and her parents drove it all the way from Kansas to San Diego to return it to her. As avid classic car lovers, it meant a lot to their family, and eventually it became part of ours too. For a few years it sat in our driveway, and I decided it deserved to be restored properly so it could be enjoyed again and continue its story. I was hoping that one day it would be passed down to my daughter-in-law's boys -- my grandsons. So I trusted a professional shop to restore it. Instead, the car sat there for 8 1/2 years, and I paid about $52,000, believing we were bringing this special car back to life. We finally got her back on March 1, 2025. Within weeks it started leaking fluids. On June 16, the driver's door latch failed and the door flew open while I was making a right turn. Then on July 1, the headliner fell down. From there, it's been one disappointment after another. After nearly nine years and $52,000, the car now has about 50 miles on it and is not even driveable. It's incredibly painful to realize that after all that time and money, the car appears to have been returned to us with substandard workmanship. What should have been a really cool classic car ready for the next generation is now something I can't even safely drive. All I wanted was to someday hand the keys to my grandsons and tell them the story of how this car traveled from Kansas to San Diego and stayed in their family. Instead, this is where we ended up. So, with all the different projects they do, SOS was the only place I could think of that could handle carbon fiber work for my RS3. I live all the way in Ventura County, so knowing SOS is super creative, I just wanted to get it done right the first time. The manufacturer didn't put enough clear coat on, so that was one thing I had to fix. Then, the inside of the trunk was a mess -- it was missing all the holes for the wires and tail lights, but luckily, the guys on install day had no trouble fixing that. Also, I asked Robert from Rspec to do a clear PPF on the trunk. It was perfect because SOS Customz and Rspec wrap are kinda in the same family. Plus, Rspec's just starting out, and I wanted to give them some support. Overall, I'm super happy and excited to finally have the carbon trunk installed. Saul was super supportive and helped me throughout the process. The price was pretty reasonable, especially with the clear PPF. The guys at SOS Customz and Rspec totally crushed it! read more

I spent over $30,000 with this shop back in 2020, and the work I received was nowhere near the quality you'd expect for that kind of money. When I recently took my car to another shop for a wrap, they discovered multiple areas that were never even painted. Is it really that hard to remove a license plate or radio antenna before spraying? The "custom" trunk setup I paid for was just as disappointing -- instead of properly building an enclosure for the subwoofer, they simply cut a hole in the wooden flooring and dropped it in. No wonder the sub kept blowing. To make things worse, when I dropped the car off for body kit repairs, they left it sitting outside with the windows open. I drive a 2022 Nissan Frontier for business, and after a major accident, I knew I'd be without it for a while. I first went to a body shop I won't name, as I don't think it's ethical, but from the start they seemed a bit shady--refusing to give me a free estimate for insurance purposes. Somehow, they convinced me to let them inspect the damage, and before I knew it, my truck felt like it was being held hostage due to my lack of knowledge in these situations. A week later, they quoted nearly $11,000 for repairs. I declined the work and told my insurance company to just cut me a check for that amount. Quality work. My job wasn't automotive, but rather reupholstering of an office chair. It's so hard to find a good genuine leather office chair these days, so I just shopped around until I found my ideal bonded leather chair, then had Customz upgrade to genuine leather, and had them build up the padding a bit. Best choice I've made in a while. Rather spend more upfront on a genuine leather chair that's going to last 10 years, than spend a couple hundred every year on crappy bonded leather chairs that starts peeling after a year or two of regular use. I feel like I'm spending about the same amount of money, but never worrying about having a chair that's embarrassing to have behind me on a Zoom meeting or in front of guests. I was concerned that because the chair itself is a cheap Staples office chair, Customz may have a hard time replacing materials that were maybe glued in place rather than being attached in more traditional ways with an expectation of reupholstering at some point. But nope, the chair looks amazing, and I'd never suspect this isn't how it came from the factory. My secondary focus after leather was also building up the padding in the seat, because that was the only part of the original factory setup that I could tell was not done well. Came out great and so far I've been able to spend a full work day in the chair without any discomfort. I know that wouldn't have been the case with the padding that came installed. I was in a minor accident and needed repairs on my WRX. From the beginning, Sarah was very welcoming and communicated that the shop was super busy, and that it would be a couple of weeks before they can start working on my car. Needless to say, the good people at SOS Customz took really good care of me and did a great job of repairing my car. In addition to my accident repairs, I also got some work done on the roof of my car, which was damaged from the sun. They also paint corrected and polished my WRX to get everything to match as close as possible. There were some scratches on my emblem from the accident, and my insurance refused to pay for a new one, but SOS said they would order me a new one and have it mailed it to me. The amount of work done was reasonably priced, and the quality was definitely on point. So one of my head lights went out and I came here because they're close to me and the reviews were pretty good. So first thing is this place is busy which tells you that they're doing a great job otherwise it would be slow or dead. I needed a headlight for my halo and Saul was able to find the exact color and get the light the same day. The price was fair but I also thought it was going to be a few hundred but nope. The next thing I'll do is have my cabin lights changed out and yup guess where I'm going? You guessed right here at SOS! I found SOS after googling Auto Upholstery. The positive reviews gave me a sense of comfort and I reached out. Let me say that all of the reviews were spot on. Saul and Sarah head up this family business. They were outstanding communicators from the beginning. They reupholstered my Porsche Cayenne S, Ceiling liner, front seats and one back seat. Sarah spent as much time with me as needed to pick the correct colors for the headliner on the ceiling and vinyl colors for my seats. The liner colors came back a little lighter than she expected and that we chose. I told her to match up with another color as close as she could because I trusted her. She nailed it. Everything was done A+ quality work and on time. I also ended up coming in to the 21st century with a new Stereo Saul recommended. So far it's been integrated well and It's working as advertised. I did notice my airbag light has appeared on my dash and we'll need to figure that out. It's not often one comes across a business that offers a great value, customer service and integrity.
