My coworkers and I decided to get lunch and we decided on Sorrento's. We have ordered here plenty of times and the food is always is delicious. I ordered theTuscan Chicken Cutlet with Sun-dried tomatoes and Provolone cheese. The sandwich was delicious. The chicken was crispy and it went perfectly with the Sun-dried tomatoes and Provolone cheese. The ends of the sandwich tasted like a grilled cheese and it had just the right amount bread factor. Also, Sorrento's is a small store but it sells a variety of items such as cut meats, Italian pastries and different types of Italian foods. The service is always great but you should make your order by phone because of long lines and they tend to get busy at lunch time. read more

Heard a lot about this place, and having tried the great delis in NYC/Bronx gave it a try. Folks raves about the Porketta so i tried that. Unfortunately it was just OK. I've had equal or better Porkettas at the local KoC Hall, and at other local clubs. Had decent flavor, not as much garlic bite that i'd want, and not enough sauce. A bit pricey at $6.00 for a roll. I called to inquire why it had been more than a hour since when they accepted the order and I still haven't received it. Best Italian deli in the area! Their meats and sandwiches are so fresh and delicious. Their salads are to die for. And their frozen pastas (manicotti, ravioli, etc) are so delicious. There are things you find here that you cannot find in any Stop & Shop or ShopRite. And the people who work there are so helpful and pleasant. Today, I went in to pick up two cream filled zeppoles we ordered yesterday (one custard and one cannoli cream) and walked out with five other items! I was hoping for so much more, based on other reviews. I came here this past weekend with my daughter to get some of the highly talked about sandwiches, and also pick up some cold cuts. They seem to be struggling with a system for taking orders from customers, between the deli counter & the sandwich counter. It's not a big space, so things were a little hectic. Anyway, the sandwiches were really just average, and when I opened up the cold cuts the next day, they were dried out and fairly tasteless. I've gotten fresher cold cuts just from the deli counter at ShopRite. I don't think I will be back to Sorrento, especially given the other excellent options in town (A&S, Italian Kitchen). I would have given this just one star, except for the very kind sales clerk that rang me up at the end. read more

I am a third generation Sorrento loyalist. I've been living in FL for the past 8 years. This hasn't stopped my support. When we go back to CT to visit we always make a stop at Sorrento. We pack a bag and take it as a check in. The cargo is way too precious to leave it up to check in. When we have visitors, we request our usual stock pile. I walked right out of the store because no gloves while cutting cold cuts I just can't see that and then order. Especially when touching their face hair etc then continue cutting. It's no A & S that's for sure. I want to support local merchants in Bridgeport and I'd heard this place was the real deal as far as a true Italian deli. But it's really run down on the inside and the deli counter is packed with people 3 and 4 deep. I may give it another try because it consistently gets good reviews from others. But I was not impressed. I did buy some ravioli and they were very good. But the same price as A & S and stored in an ancient cooler that looked ready to give up the ghost.
