Incredible salon. Blew me away. I had a freak accident with my curly hair that was waist length. I was riding with the windows down, when my hair got very knotted. I put it up, and later got in the hot tub. The hot tub dried out my hair and knotted it further. When my hair dried, it was literally matted tightly to my scalp. We tried different home remedies, but everything seemed to make it worse. We called Soren, and they discussed among the staff what possible interventions could be done. I told them I wanted to try them, and even though it was Sunday, they said I could come in at 5:30 (30mins before close and within hours of calling them with my problem). We used GPS to locate the salon in a beautiful part of Buckhead, parked, and entered off the street to the 2nd floor (over a jewelry store). Upon entering, it was easy to note that the staff had concern over the condition of my hair. I know it looked hopeless, and I was devastated over what may lie ahead...being very attached to my long hair. 2 staff members (an assistant named Aaron and a colorist expert name Rochelle) quickly went to work with few words among them. They spent hours pulling out the mats on my hair. They did as much as they could with the least amount of damage done. During the times that nothing good could be said, there was silence as the stylists worked. They eventually unmatted my hair, but I then needed a serious haircut. It was very well past closing by the time the unmatting occurred so I needed to schedule a later appt. However, Rochelle put a deep conditioner on my hair and Aaron pinned it up safely until I could come back in for my appt. The staff was amazing - kind, generous, supportive...but also, the positive environment among the staff members was easy to note. I needed to come back in at a certain time because I was going out of town. When I went to schedule the appt, the receptionist worked diligently after hours to try to accommodate my desperate situation with a certain stylist. She called us that evening to say that he (Barak) would indeed come in and salvage what was left of my hair. We went back at the scheduled time with Barak. When he saw my hair, he was incredibly encouraging. He ran his fingers through my hair and told me what he thought was best, and he had the exact same ideas that I like for my hair. I am not only grateful for the beautiful job he was able to do on my hair, but the time visiting with him was such a pleasure. He is an amazing person both professionally and personally. He was so interesting, and I am grateful having met him. He did such a beautiful job on my hair that I could barely mourn its loss of length. And when we went to pay, the services were so reasonably priced, in light of the time and effort of multiple staff members that were required, as well as the emergency at hand, that we were incredulous especially for the upscale area of Buckhead. Soren Salon is full of the most upstanding professionals in the business. I am so grateful for them, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Deon saved my life. I went to another Atlanta salon on a Saturday before the 4th of July where I received a botched blonding. I had asked for an ashy light blonde to match my fair skin tone and get me closer to my natural light ashy brown. Instead I got white-yellow, orange and straw-like hair. It was nothing like the image I'd showed. I left panicked. I didn't want to leave the house let alone go to work that Monday. The next day (Sunday), I called a few salons after frantically googling best salons in town. With the holiday, I was certain I would have to wait till the following weekend with this awful color on my head. I called several and received "no's" until I called Soeren. Not only were they open, but they would be able to help me. I walked in tired, scared, and yellow. I left excited, happy, and the ashy light blonde I wanted to be (and more). Deon listened to my story, my wants, my needs, and completely put me at ease. I basically had a Powerpoint on my phone with images for him, I was so scared of another botched job. He was patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgable. He walked me through his diagnosis, what he was going to do, and when/if plans changed, he made sure I was aware and understood exactly what he was doing. He even stayed till after close, as the whole process was 5 hours. I joked with him that he had saved my life, but it almost feels that way. I also half-joked I was never letting him go (not really a joke). I truly appreciated the knowledge he shared, the time he put into his work, and the whole Soeren Salon experience. I will not be letting anyone else touch my hair. If I do, it would only be another Soeren Salon stylist. 100/10 would recommend. read more

I have always hated HATED getting haircuts and color. hated it. always have. i never like the results enough to justify the cost, i don't know how to exactly explain what i want to a stylist, and i NEVER enjoy spending that much time with/talking to a stylist (anyone who's not a friend) for as long as it takes to get cut/color/style... EXCEPT FOR CARLA "KOKO" KOOTSILLAS! She gets me. she gets what i'm *trying* to describe. she'll pull up pictures on her phone of styles/color that she thinks i'm talking about, or would look good on me. She's nice to talk to. talk WITH. she's young but so so so experienced, and her color knowledge/ability is un-matched in my experience. it's hip without being unaccessible. It has just a little something extra that's hard to even explain. Impact. i am an actor and need to have a flexible cut/color that isn't really too much of anything too extreme, yet needs to have a touch more impact than the average mom-on-the-street. and she got that totally. she left her previous salon and traveled with Wella to sell and educate/train on color, and i was lost..... tried a number of well-recommended people, and didn't get a cut/color i was happy with the entire time. Carla came back to a salon, this salon, and i was in her chair before she was even officially started back!! and BAM! i was stunned before even leaving the chair. the color is a-maz-ing. the cut just flat-out works. she knows what she's doing, and she's a delight to spend the time with. it flies by. If there was a way to rate this "salon" a zero, i would. I have never been treated so disrespectfully. I had a 12:30 pm appointment that I was approximately 10 minutes tardy for. The Receptionist was understanding and started that my appointment would still be honored. Upon checking into the salon, I began receiving awkward looks from both the Receptionist and her co-worker. In summary, i was told by the Receptionist that Mandy Mathis "does not do highly textured hair." I asked her to please explain what "highly textured hair hair" is since i had on a baseball cap, that completely covered my haircut and have permed hair. The owner of the salon then relayed to me again that many does not do "highly textured hair." I needed my haircut and hesitantly decided to proceed with the appointment. After being subjected further to Mandy's inappropriate, racial and demeaning comments I opted to leave. I did not feel like being pawned off (as Mandy suggested) on the only black stylist in the salon after being told that i would have to wait an additional two hours to be seen by her. Note: If you have "highly textured hair" aka are black and are blessed not the have limp, lifeless hair...this is not the "salon" for you. I will take my well earned $160,000 salary to an actual salon that has talented stylist. Not limited-skilled persons who claim to be stylist. I will also be seeking the advice of a Civil Rights attorney to avoid this "salon" from continuing to practice discriminatory behavior. read more

I almost feel guilty that this is the first review I have written for Soren. Soren Salon offers amazing customer service and a great group of excellent stylists and colorists. I myself am quite partial to Rachelle Weber for my color, and Kate Brumm for my cut. And when I say partial, I mean blown away! I've followed both of them from DASS of Dunwoody to DASS at Phipps and then to Soren Salon! I have NEVER in 10 years had a bad cut....never a disappointing color experience....I've never once gone back to have anything tweaked. And I have curly blonde hair....it takes a special cut to make my curls look full and not frizzy! And I cannot tell you how often I get stopped and asked if I get my hair colored. Once I confirm that unfortunately this is not natural....they immediately ask where I have my hair colored. She makes it look so perfectly natural.....never too brassy or "too blonde"....just a lovely blonde similar to that if my children. I walk in and I say, "do whatever you want." Because inevitably I want exactly what they choose to do! I've referred friends to them (even my manager), and they are still their clients. They are both very talented, beautiful (in spirit and in face), and so much fun! I have recently moved to the 'Burbs, and I will continue to see them both, as they are both worth the drive! read more

I always come to Soren Salon whenever I need to get my hair colored or cut in Atlanta. All of the staff and stylists are extremely kind and cordial and extremely well-trained and proficient in their work. Rachelle Weber does an amazing job with highlights. I showed her an image of the color that I wanted and she did an amazing job, and even blended all of my grey hairs perfectly so that they weren't noticeable with the amazing job she did with my highlights! Mr. Soren does an amazing job with haircuts. I described what I wanted and he did a great job cutting and styling my hair exactly the way that I wanted. Trey blow-dried and styled my hair after the stylist was done and did an amazing job- he even curled my hair beautifully without me requesting it! I have to travel a lot and have been to numerous salons in numerous cities to get my hair done, and definitely make sure to come to Soren Salon whenever I am in the Atlanta area. I am always more than satisfied by the amazing job that they do with my hair and the diligence and skillfulness of all of the staff and stylists. read more

I spent weeks online, reading reviews and checking all the Atlanta area salon ratings. With zero personal references to go on, I had to decide which stylist appeared to be the right fit for me. Difficult task, because I am extremely particular about hair color. Was really concerned about having a "bad hair experience." Most places have a mix of positive and negative reviews, so, it is nearly impossible to really know which ones are actually good/bad. After reading the personal reviews for Carla at Soren Salon, I decided she seemed the best choice. Thank goodness!! In 20 years, of all the colorist I've ever been to, she is absolutely the most talented person for creating the blonde look that I really wanted. My hair tends to turn red/orange. She was able to take my very long, very fine, medium brown hair, and turn it into a very light, cool blonde masterpiece with a lot of depth. Beyond just being a very pleasant, funny and relaxing person to be around, she is extremely meticulous about her work. An absolute master of the craft. read more

Okay, I am a little late writing my review as I typically hit my computer immediately after visiting a business. So, here it is...Soeren Salon is the best in Buckhead! I was in a frenzy to get my hair done and called to make an appointment the night before. I just knew that it may be impossible but I was pleasantly surprised, I got an appointment with Re'Con and what a positive experience. Re'Con took the time to discuss my hair needs, the look that I wanted and how to maintain my extensions. From the shampoo to the finished hair cut and style, I was in a state of bliss. She is awesome! Highly recommend this stylist for extensions and natural hair. The PROs: I was in and out of her chair within an hour and half, attentive and knowledgeable about ethnic hair and extensions. The CONs: None. I now have the "Atlanta Attitude" because my hair is soooo fierce and that is certainly owed to Re'Con. Thanks Re'Con and I will be seeing you next week!! read more

Carla at Soren is a color wizard. She takes what she is given and makes it sparkle like no one else I've seen. When it comes to mixing color, it is second nature to her. Keeping with the magic motif- She could easily rival the most skilled potion maker at Hogwarts. She rattles off numbers and letters of the colors she's thinking of using and how they'll blend, letting you hear her thought process in the moment, and when she has finished- it's nothing short of a miracle. Subtle, but brilliant, her craft makes your hair revitalized and magnetic. Anyone can buy a box of Feria over the counter and paste their hair with goop, but why use Neville Longbottom when you can have Hermione Granger? I've seen several examples Carla's work first hand and I can attest that she can pull off anything. If you want a huge change (bold mermaid teal or purple) or just a natural bit of color to create depth, Carla is your girl. read more
