I always used to order my beautiful cakes from Society Bakery until I found them. The staff at Soonja's went above and beyond with the cake I told them I had in mind. I have never seen or tasted anything so amazing, and my guests were equally as impressed! I want a birthday in my family to come soon because I am dying to get more cakes from them. I didn't have a Yelp account but they deserved a rave review! read more

Couldn't be happier- the cake is absolutely beautiful! It is exactly what we asked for and they even helped us make decisions on some changes we wanted but we're not sure how to execute. Service was wonderful! This was a very important cake for us since it was for our son's first birthday :) Will go back every year from here on out!! read more

The person who took my order seemed more rushed instead of focusing on my desire. The cupcakes came out ok but not exactly what I wanted. The lipsticks all looked like they were falling apart. Also the cupcake was sub par. The icing tasted very artificial and the cake was kind of dry. I've tasted better from Walmart. For the price they charge, I do believe they should put more care and attention in what the customer is asking for. read more

Horrible. Ruined our child's birthday. Ordered more than 2 weeks in advance, we go the bakery to get them and they are completely clueless. The guy behind the counter never apologized or even acknowledged their massive screw up even when she showed him the confirmation. He was ride and incompetent. Thank God Central Market saved us. They were far better as Soojas. read more

Fantastic donuts. Nice selection and the baking is top notch. I really like the variations they offer of protein containing donuts (sausage or chicken filled brioche). Very nice selection of drinks as well. They also do beautiful looking cakes although I've never ordered one. This used to be a sometimes donut place, but this will be the only donut place I'll go to now. I was in one morning and a Marine order a couple dozen donuts. They wouldn't let him pay for it. I don't know the particulars (ie, was he a family friend, etc), but on spec, it spoke volumes to me. If I could give 6-stars, I would. read more

I would have loved to give this bakery a better rating. The two people who run the shop were absolutely amazing. You could tell they loved what they do. I came in to order a custom cake (see the iPad cake on their website) and it didn't quite meet my expectations. When I visited their website, their iPhone cake caught my eye because it looked perfect. I decided to inquire about an iPad cake and they said they could do it! BUT .. here comes the cons ... I specifically ordered a white iPad cake but they made black. Half of the home buttons were cut off. And my biggest complaint is the overall shape. The edges looked sloppy especially when compared to the iPhone cake. And some pros ...They did make strawberry cake for me although it's not one of their typical flavors. They also gave me free donuts every time I came in which were delish! The cake's recipient was very impressed so it all ended on a good note. I wouldn't rule out this bakery the next time I need a custom cake but I hope they pay a little more attention to the details in the future. read more

Horrible customer service. I didn't even get to the cake tasting part because they stopped responding to my emails and wouldn't pick up my calls. I emailed asking for mini cupcakes or cake balls on a tiered stand and he asked me to send a picture of what I wanted. I sent 2-3 that conceptually showed what I was looking for. He gave me price per mini cupcake, nothing about cake balls. When I asked for clarification I never heard back. I guess they aren't interested in my business, which is fine- I have 3 family and friends getting married next year so I'll be sure to let them know to steer clear. read more

I bought a dozen jalapeño croissant kolaches one day and found they were good! Nice and spicy has a kick that helps a Friday AM become good one! Luckily it was my friend's sweet 16 and I was enlisted with the task of the cake. Soonja was very helpful and had suggestions. She allowed me to think about it with no pressure and I even called her a few times ask a quick question or 2 and was pleased with her enthusiasum and patience. The cake was a sheet cake that was giraffe that we gave a nice set of eyelashes to and we laid it on the background of our choice. The cake perfectly depicted the cake we envisioned! Definitely nice to make my FGD smile on her day! read more

Waited forever to get a quote on a simple cake. When whoever monitors the quotes requests replied to mine, they were not helpful and they didn't seem to be able to manage basic spelling or grammar. In fact, the tone of the response made me feel like my request for a simple round cake was a huge inconvenience for this bakery. It's not like there aren't a plethora other business in this city who can bake a delicious cake, and manage to be polite, AND even write a sentence at a fifth grade level. I'm going to be needing a lot of cakes this year - so I'll probably be going with one of them. read more

This may be hard to believe, but they have hands down the best donuts in DFW. Their chocolate covered donuts in particular blow the competition out of the water and they're cheaper, too! Since discovering Soonjas, I can't eat at Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, or any local establishment anymore. Soonjas has simply raised the bar too high. I discovered Soonjas bakery on a whim and have come back every week since. If you're looking for a hell of a donut, try Soonjas. read more

We used Soonja's for a truly awesome specialty cake for a 50th birthday. From a photo we provided they made a cake shaped like the birthday girls favorite champagne bottle!!! It was incredibly realistic and very detailed. These people are talented!! The cake itself was really moist and had regular icing topped with fondant. It was easy to slice and held together perfectly for serving. Highly recommend this bakery for any cakes but especially when you need something really special. read more

We went to Soonja's bakery for our wedding cake, and I just want to say we couldn't have had a more pleasant experience working with them! We met Soonja personally, and she helped us in getting the most delicious and beautiful cake together. We had met with other bakeries that specialized in wedding cakes before going to Soonja's, had several tastings and none of them quite compared in taste nor service. For instance, we wanted a simple marble cake that has both chocolate and vanilla, so she prepared it specially for us to taste (- unlike a certain highland park bakery that specializes latin cakes that wanted to charge us $70 to bake the cake just to taste.) Also, I wanted sugar flowers for the topping and Soonja exceeded my expectations in providing 25+ flower samples (made w/ our wedding colors) to pick from. We will definitely use Soonja's Bakery again for custom cakes in the future!! read more

My experience... Short notice = no problem Late pickup = no problem I wanted to do something special for my cousins when their mom/my Aunt passed. After I went in to check out Soonja's & look @ their photo album; I was convinced that they would be best for me. Since I thought of a cake last minute (2 days before), I hadn't thought to bring a better pic of my Aunt. However, I was able to retrieve an old pic from my phone, & was instructed to email it to them. I asked the lady who was helping us if she could remove the flaws from the photo; she told me she couldn't make any promises. I ended up picking up the cake last minute, day of instead of the day before. OMG, was I impressed; not only did they remove the flaws (I literally just teared up right now), but the pic as well as the cake was amazing!!! My cousins were extremely grateful, & everyone loved it. I would love to show it to you all, but out of respect for my family I will not. Please know that I don't do reviews unless I'm blown away or completely disgusted. Thanks to Soonja's for making it a wonderful experience, as well as making a grown man cry! read more

Soonja's Bakery did an outstanding job with our son's 1st Birthday cake. Beatrice and the team really took the time to make sure the all the requested elements and intricate details were beautifully tied in and showcased on the cake. I am giving the place 3stars for their customer service and attention. The bakery's delivered my order in 2days when no other bakery in town would do it. I had a one tier 1/2 sheet cake to mark the 100th meetup of my group. I had tasted the cake sample and it was delicious...nut the actual cake delivered was overly sweet !!!! The frosting rather butter cream on the spongy cake was left by everyone on their plates. Which was SAD :( the vanilla cake was spongy and moist.. I don't think il be ordering there again... Not a butter cream cake atleast read more

Two stars for good decorating. I brought them a custom design and it was a pretty close match. The colors were off but they still did a good job copying my inspiration. I bought a kids birthday cake. It looked good, but tasted horrible. I had more than 3/4 of it left because after initial tastes nobody wanted any more of it. Lots of what was tasted ended up in the trash. The color of the actual ( strawberry) cake was so off putting some kids didn't want to try it. It was beet or blood red. It would have made a great halloween cake. The crust was visibly burned. It was a custom designed cake and they must have been a heavy handed with the food coloring because the buttercream icing was inedibly bittter. Artificially bitter, like if you licked sweet and low. So was the very thin strip of 'filling' they had in the middle. The cake texture was dense and compact in spite of having a moist mouth feel. It was very unpleasant to eat. This was the most expensive cake i have ever bought and was simultaneously the worst tasting/most disappointing. Lesson learned. Last year I thought Delicious Cakes in addison did a lousy job with decorating but at least their cake was delicious which is the whole point! From here on out its Nothing Bundt Cake, or cupcakes for birthdays. Im so done with custom cakes. Seems like Bakeries that can decorate can't bake well and those that can bake can't decorate well. Smh. read more

They made a cake for my boyfriends birthday and it came out pretty good considering I gave them 2 days notice and had no choice but to describe the entire design of the cake over the phone. Let's hope it tastes better than it looks. The cake writing is horrible and I'm embarrassed to serve it. Looks like a child decorated it. For $50, expect much better. WOW! I was looking for a cake for a girl that was turning 15 years old and her favorite and her theme would be Dallas Cowboys. She is a super fan of the Dallas Cowboys so needless to say we knew the theme had to be Dallas Cowboys. I went online and I search for many many different types of cakes and I couldn't find anything so I started searching for some of the best fondant cake bakeries around in Dallas. This bakery was one of the thousands that popped up after calling about 11 different bakeries this bakery suggested that I send them a picture of the cake that I wanted via text message I sent them the picture and immediately they replied with prices and with a couple of questions on what types of cake I wanted. My only concern was that the cake would be made with within time and also I wanted it to be a fondant cake. They had no problem making this cake with just the three day notice. And they went above and beyond what we expected. When we arrive to pick up the cake we were so excited because this cake was extremely beautiful. To be honest with you I did not expect for the cake to be this awesome. I recommend this bakery to anyone and everyone. I do have to say that I thought the cake was a bit pricey but no one else was going to be able to make the cake that we wanted so we didn't mind paying. I do recommend this location to anyone that would like to have a custom cake made. read more

We stopped here after eating at the restaurant next door and I'm SO GLAD we randomly decided to do that. I got a dozen donut holes and the cashier was sweet enough to give us a few more.
