For over a year, the screen had to be opened where you wanted it before you turned it on because if you moved the machine virtually at all and the screen jiggled it would lock up, necessitating a restart. Then, suddenly, it refused to boot up in any screen position. I brought it to PC Werx. The gentleman who came out to look at it plugged in a separate monitor and talked with me about his concerns and let me make the decision to not invest any more money in this one because the repair could easily be more expensive than the residual value of the machine. When he asked me if there was information on it that I needed to keep, that was a no, so, there was no urgent need to do anything with it. He mentioned a retailer that he has had good experience with and that happened to be where I buy virtually all computer related hardware, we shook hands and he said thank you. I mean, I'm sure he could have repaired my machine, but he gently let me know his suggestion is to spend my money on something that I'd get better service out of rather than into the one I've worn out.

I spoke with Aja over the phone, and she was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, she was super easy to talk to and gave me all the info I needed. When I came into the store, Aja was just as great in person. She helped me put everything together and was super patient and attentive, even though a line started forming behind me. You could tell she was doing her best to help everyone, and the customers seemed to notice and appreciate it. She gave me great advice, made sure the project turned out right, and somehow stayed calm and kind through it all. It's rare to come across that level of customer service these days. When I tried to return a defective receiver that was just two days outside of the return policy, Joan was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I simply expected some flexibility and respect given my long-standing business with Best Buy. Instead, I was treated like my loyalty meant nothing. What makes it even worse is that if I had purchased this item from Amazon, I would've been well within their return policy. I specifically chose to shop at Best Buy instead of Amazon (even though the price was the same) because I wanted to support a brick-and-mortar business. Clearly, that loyalty was a mistake. Moving forward, I'll be doing all my shopping with Amazon, where customer service is consistent, and policies are more customer-friendly.
