Having blood drawn is never a pleasant experience for me. I have small, rolling veins and usually have to be stuck multiple times for them to get enough tubes of blood for processing. I've been to this lab several times now. It's inside of a Safeway, so it's smaller with a shorter wait time, if any. The last two times over the course of three months Jill has been my phlebotomist. The 1st time she was the only person working. The second time she did have help at the front desk processing paperwork and checking people in. I did have to wait this draw. Four people in front of me but in all I only waited 15 minutes past my appointment time. So, Jill was great for me because she listened. I told her my past troubles of them getting blood from my arm could she please just take it from my hand. She looked at my veins and agreed that yes, my hand was probably a more viable option. One poke, four tubes of blood and I was on my way. The best part, the next day I wasn't bruised. I will continue to use this lab as long as it's an option for me. All the ladies I've come in contact with have been wonderful. read more

Went there early in the morning as soon as they opened and they weren't even that busy as there was one gentleman in line. The technician refused to take me and told me to go elsewhere. I understand this is appointment only but they are fine to sit idle and make excuses than genuinely help somebody who has driven 10 miles to get there. Was truly very disappointing. read more

I used this lab last summer as a walk-in. One person ahead of me, lovely tech, in and out. Not this time. I was told that "we are appointment only." I explained that I had walked-in before. "No. I've been here five years, and it's always been appointment only." I wonder what her motivation was for 'correcting' me. I used to shop at this Safeway when I lived on the east side. I know where I was. She never asked what test I needed which was a simple blood draw...easy and quick. I know...I was a nurse and a phlebotomist. She never smiled or said anything remotely friendly...no customer service sense at all. She did not offer to look up the next available appointment. She didn't offer to "squeeze" me in. She didn't apologize for a wasted trip as "sorry that I can't help you." No. She handed me a paper with other locations on it. It felt like "here's your hat, what's your hurry." I remained polite and calm because she obviously takes her job as Gatekeeper very seriously. But the kicker...she was sitting at the computer when I arrived and there was one...1...one person in the waiting room. Went to drop off a fecal sample. Very simple, right. You hand them the sealed envelope with the sample enclosed, they take it and put it in the refrigerator. At least that's how it works at LabCorp. Not here. Here you have to sign in. Then sit in a room full of strangers with your container full of shit for all to see. And wait. And wait. And wait some more. Oh, you could make an appointment. But you really can't. Because you need an account which means you have to give them information you don't want to. Something else you don't have to do at LabCorp. Apparently, Sonora Quest is all about dehumanizing and humiliating the patient instead of providing service. One star! read more

I had a wonderful experience today at Sonoran quest laboratories. The nurses were extremely friendly and greeted me when I arrived. I only had to wait a few minutes before I got in to get blood drawn. She'll was the professional helping me and it was one of the best blood draws I've ever received. I have been to this location 3 times and won't be returning again. My Dr has sent me for routine labs that include a urine sample. Should not be a difficult appointment, yet each time has been a disaster. I make an appointment and always bring my paperwork. You are never greeted - they would rather continue socializing than help you. When you have to do a urine screen time is of the essence or your teeth begin to float! Besides the lack of customer service, people not understanding how to read orders, the worst is yet to come. This is a very small location that has ONE bathroom to do your urine screen. Shouldn't be a huge issue as they take 1 patient at a time. The issue is that the pharmacy technicians use this bathroom. The first time, the bathroom was occupied for 15 minutes all while I did the pee-pee dance. Finally, the pharmacy employee came out and I was able to do my lab. The bathroom was in atrocious condition. Not only did it smell horrible, but the toilet itself was destroyed. I won't be anymore graphic, but use your imagination. This should be clean and used for patients only! Any pharmacy staff should be using an employee bathroom. Next time I had labs I went back here thinking this couldn't possibly happen again, but just my luck and my poor bladder and nose....it sure did happen again. Here is hoping I can find a new location where cleanliness and customer service are a priority. read more

F minus for professionalism. The lady waved me foward to help me even though she was on her cell phone talking to someone else & doesn't say anything and just blank stares at me. So I start to explain I have a time sensitive piece of lab equipment i need to pick up and got the requests from my doctor & doesn't even ask if I had an appointment & says," we only take appointments" and turned her back. if you have any anxiety about blood draws, i wouldn't go here. unfortunately i usually pass out during/after blood draws so i already hate getting it done. today i had two different phlebotomist try to draw from me and neither were successful. it was painful and they ruptured two of my veins. i've never had this happen before. of course i've had it where it's taken a couple tries but never had a phlebotomist, let alone two, be completely unsuccessful. the needle was painful each time and im just so upset im going to have to find another place to go to and find another ride there because i don't feel safe driving with the possibility of me passing out. the bruising is painful and making it difficult to do things around the house. the two phlebotomist were both nice and respectful so no complaints on bedside manner, i just think they were a bit inexperienced. they said i must be dehydrated which is not true because i drink a lot of water. they were also out of a type of needle and tried to use a pediatric needle on me. i had surgery a couple months ago where i obviously fasted and was dehydrated and the nurse was able to give me an IV first try pretty painlessly so idk. but yeah if you have any difficulties with blood draws i would try a different sonora quest. read more

I wish they had a major competitor to help with their volume control and just plain awful customer service. They do have Patients Choice in town but they are a small local. They are far superior but small. They do come to you though.Which is nice. I try to use Patients Choice but sometimes you just have to go here. When I do It is just plain awful. The company is terrible. The wait is horrid, up to four hours or more if you have to go day of with no appt, and they alway mess up billing. ALL THE TIME! Last week, again, they messed up. They billed the wrong insurance. Waaaa??????Now I have to spend the time, time I do not have, to fix it. I walked in to have them change it and they refused to fix it. I have to call. That makes no sense to me. I am a very busy person and now I have to do their job for them. And on another note, why can they not update in the system anyway? Very weird. It is so frustrating doing business with them. Why do we only have one major lab in the fifth biggest city in the USA. Competition needed. read more

So, I'm on yelp looking for sonoran hot dogs because ... just go get one & you'll see. I suggest thursdays at food city & the 99 cent beautiful sonorans there. Anyway, we're here for something else. I forgot what. oh, BLOOD! So, we had an appointment at another lab and there was a stress filled foul up (not their fault) and they recommended sonora quest. we made our appointment and showed up on time and ... it was fantastic. First off, it's in a safeway. Other than having it at the beach or a waterpark ... safeway is heaven. I cannot imagine complaining about this other than maybe if you're looking for it there is zero signage, but I was told to go to the back of Safeway. So we get in there and it's a tiny COLD office designed in the craftsman style so there's some architectural interest. Lots of beautiful wood, always comforting. And in July, cold is good. Anyway, we're here for something else right .. you wanna get into the blood? they drew the blood, quickly and painlessly. Also my family was waiting outside, the other tech took a phone call from another lab & once they finished their official BLOOD discussion, they were making jokes. Also comforting to have techs that are fun and funny. (the jokes were funny.) NO signs for this location ANYWHERE. It's hidden in the back of the Safeway. Sonora quest should really invest in some signs or maybe just answer your phones to help your customers find you. Very frustrating. On the positive side, my phlebotomist was fantastic and the wait time was minimal. They are using horribly sticky tape now instead of the stretchy wrap to secure cotton down after drawing blood. Not pleasant to rip off. I'll be asking for stretchy wrap or bringing my own bandaid next time. read more

I've been searching for an hour for a phone # that doesn't send me in a circle. It seems there is no way to contact a real person to either make and appt or get info about the 4 hour test that I need. So frustrating. I must have a computer, set up an account to make an appt?? BUT I can't make an appt until I know more info. SO I get in my car and drive to this place to see if they will talk to me? I think I will go to lab corp . Very frustrating. I can't find out what the co pay is, I don't know what they call the test (type) to get it in the system. read more

I've been going through a lot health wise and that can be very stressful. I finally reached the point where I was able to get everything tested and I was relieved. My physician labeled my case STAT because I could end up in the hospital if I'm untreated. They told me I can walk in any location to either pick up a take home test or get it done there. When I went to this location the front office lady was very unprofessional. Smacking her gum and not knowing what she was doing on the computer because she had to continuously ask questions from her coworkers. After wasting my time and waiting, she told me the printer wasn't working to print out my paper and to go to ups down the street, print it and go back to them. They also stated they couldn't help me even if it's STAT. Very rudely too I was very upset. I went to the location in cave creek instead. They were twice as busy and helped me tremendously. The reviews on Facebook for this location average up to 2 starts. All the negative yelp reviews on here have been deleted. read more

I'm torn between one star and two. The location is convenient. The office looks nice and has a quaint feel to it. The employees are kind and efficient. However, when it comes to the actual blood draw, I'd have to go with 1 star. I have a fear of needles but blood draws have become tolerable since I can always remind myself that they don't hurt. I've never had one that hurt more than just a quick little pinch when the needs is inserted. This time, however, it hurt when the needle broke the skin, it hurt as the needle continued to slide in, it stung the whole time the needle was in, then when the needle was removed, that hurt just as much and not a quick pain, a drawn out pain! I've never had a blood draw hurt like this. I was actually saying "ow ow ow". I was well hydrated and my blood flowed fine. I can only assume the pain was due to the technique. After this, I'll be lucky if I can convince myself to give blood again. Really nice lady, but it didn't make up for the pain. Additionally, I made an appointment and still ended up waiting even though no one else was there. I guess it took that long to get all of my test info entered? What was meant to be an in and out visit that I left work for ended up taking up so much time I had to skip my lunch break to make up for it. I won't be going back there, unfortunately. From now on I'll only have the lab at my GP do my blood draws since they've never hurt me. Too bad since this was so close to my house. read more

My experience at this location was so so. The phlebotomist was great, no complaints there. Finding the location was a headache and took 35 extra minutes to actually find out that it was inside the Safeway. I tried calling about 6 times, every time you select the location option it just hangs up on you. Then I got smart and selected the option for physicians so that I could actually talk to someone on the phone and learn that it's inside Safeway. And what's with the awful tape you guys are using now? How much does it actually save you switching from the stretchy stuff that applies the correct amount of pressure to stop blood flow to cheap tape that rips off your arm hairs trying to remove it? What about people who are on blood thinners? Stop trying to cut corners. Spend money on signage and the correct supplies for your amazing phlebotomists to do their jobs. There was an extra wait this morning because they ran out of tubes. You can do better. read more

DO NOT BRING A BABY HERE!!!!! I went here for my daughters 1 year labs and it was the worst experience ever. Not only were the ladies working there rude (the lady at the front desk ignored my daughter as she's trying to say hi and wave at her. And she was extremely rude to me when I'm trying to ask simple questions), as we go back to get her blood tested they are looking at her arms already saying to each other that they can't find a vein. They then proceed to each poke both her arms 4 or more times while she is screaming. Then they BLAME her for not being able to find a vein?! And were super rude about it saying she needed to relax and not fight them. Like what baby is relaxed and sitting still while being held down and continually poked in the arm. If you don't find a vein and don't know how to do your job, DO NOT stab my daughter in the arm in the first place. I have never been more disappointed in a "medical lab" than I have been here. I repeat DO NOT take a child here. read more
