I have used this service for over a year now to complete monthly blood work for my elderly mother who has dementia and lives in an assisted living facility. Mom does not usually do well with procedures and doctor visits in the morning. 1st Choice is aware of this as we have had at least three discussions about it over the past year. Recently the scheduling process has become even less customer friendly. Following is an example of how they operate: Yesterday mid day I received an email stating Mom's blood draw was scheduled for noon today. Then at 4:25 yesterday afternoon I received another email and text stating the appointment had been moved to 9 am. I immediately called and the phone was answered by an unprofessional sounding young woman who took over 10 minutes to locate the appointment. She then informed me it was too late to change it. I told her the 9 am time would not work and why. She said she'd send a message to someone (not sure who). Subsequently I texted, called, left a voicemail message, and sent an email requesting contact. No response. Fast forward to this morning. At 7:39 I received a text stating the technician was on his way. 30 seconds later I received a text stating work was finished. I immediately called and left another voicemail asking that someone contact me about scheduling. No one has. So to recap: this company scheduled an early appointment for the next day. I called within 15 minutes but they refused to change it, even though the time scheduled was their mistake. Then they showed up unannounced almost 90 minutes earlier than that! Wow. I've given this company 2 stars only because so far they haven't screwed up the actual blood draw. But as far as scheduling is concerned they seem to care more about their own convenience than that of my Mom. They literally just show up whenever they want. read more

they failed to refrigerate my sample and are blaming labcorp, have offered no even percentage of a refund, and double down on how they made no mistake. I can't even go get it redone for a month because it was a hormone sample. they screwed up and keep swearing it's not their fault. read more

Worst experiences with this company but it's the only game in town. All my Drs are unhappy with them too. Took me 5 tries just to get my labs because they either lost my samples, gave me the wrong receptacles for leaving a sample, etc. Not to mention harming my arms trying to draw blood!!! read more

It's good to read many reviews because everyone's needs are different. In my case, mobility and compromised immunity are the issues. Plus, I have deep set veins that have resulted in extremely painful experiences getting blood pulled. Because this is all they do, their techs are always quick and painless for me. Rescheduling has never been a problem. And I get results through my Sonora Quest portal next day or even same day. My Medicare Advantage plan covers the entire cost. read more

I needed get labs but I'm so busy and when I tried to book at Sonora or Labcorp for an appointment on a Sat when I can do them, all booked up. This company came out the same day on a Sunday and got my labs!!! It was great!! Wonderful service, even if my insurance doesn't pay for them to be the middle man for my labs, I don't care, it's worth it to me!! I'll use them again! read more

Do not use this company. Worst customer service ever. They should be renamed last choice phlebotomy. As a physician, patient service should be first and foremost. This company is all about the money. They failed to communicate they changed times. When they did not arrive at the scheduled time, I called to ask where they were. They stated a tech showed up on an unconfirmed time then kept my $125 and refused a reschedule. Complete scam company that makes you pay prior to service then doesn't show up and refuses to return your money. Find another company. This company is unreliable and unethical. I would not trust them with my patients specimens. After reading other reviews, it's clear this is a recurring theme for this company. Do not use this company!!! You have been warned!!! read more

Pros - quick scheduling, at home convenience, compassionate office staff. Cons - If you want accurate scheduling and tests, run away from this service!!!! I have had multiple issues with scheduling and incorrect appointment notifications. I was given a time frame, received email notification for a different time frame (each time I scheduled received two different confirmation emails with two different time frames). Called the office and was told they had issues with the email notifications. The first time I was available at the new time frame. The second time, the phlebotomist was scheduled for a time frame that did not work for my schedule. Also had issues with one order being completely missed and had to go into my doctor to have it done (or pay 1st Choice for another visit). This second time around I had a test that was considered "critical stability" and had to be sent to an outside lab within 72 hours and drawn only Monday through Thursday (neither of which I was advised when the original draw was done). The sample did not arrive to the lab on time and was no longer viable. I was never notified and discovered it by calling the lab directly to see why the results had not been sent to my doctor. Upon rescheduling, I was assured I would have an afternoon appointment. The tech called me at 1030am saying he was on his way. I was not home. Renee at the office was very compassionate and did her best to get me rescheduled. She made a clear note on the order to schedule the next day 10am or later. He arrived at 930am and I had to move a meeting. I love the idea of this at home service and the phlebotomists were very friendly when they were in my home. Update 6/11/21 - Changed from 3 to 1 star. I got notification today from Sonora Quest that they received the incorrect samples from 1st Choice Phlebotomy from my most recent draw. They did not receive the correct number of samples/tubes or the correct type. Now I have to have a 3rd draw for the same test. More time and another stick! Not only have they wasted A LOT of my time, they have been negligent in their handling my orders and samples. I will not be using them again and truly hope they do not put anyones health at risk. read more

Need to have lab work/ blood draw done? Have a standing lab order and dread going in and waiting in line? I have been using 1st Choice Phlebotomy for a while now. I found out about this service from a doctor who has many senior patients. But it is not only for seniors- they can come to you at your office or pretty much anywhere in the Valley. My mother, who lives with me, has had several strokes and it is a challenge to get her to a lab for a fasting blood draw. Her insurance covers the visit and it is very convenient and easy to schedule. They have been able to arrive as early as 6am! I let them in, my mother doesn't even have to get out of bed- they greet her, draw her blood and leave. She goes back to sleep. How easy is that? Once you've established coverage (if your insurance covers, finding out your cost, etc), ad your patient paperwork is in place this is what I do: I send a text message in, let them know I need blood draw, and send a photo of the paperwork so they can see what it being done. They are fast to respond, we agree to a date and approximate time frame. And Voilà! They show up, you don't wait at a lab, and you get your lab work done fast. The employees are friendly and professional. I don't know anyone that LOVES to have labwork done, but 1st Choice does take a lot of the pain out of the process with their convenient service and I am pleased to recommend them. read more

Phlebotomist was great, 5 stars to him. Company ethics zero stars. Had insurance "verified" prior to scheduling appointment and was told that it was a "covered" expense and no extra out of pocket costs. Nearly 3 months later got a bill from the company. Oh my! How convenient! My husband and I both needed labs. I dread getting fasting labs done because of not being able to have my morning coffee until after getting blood drawn. Richard came to our RV in Goodyear (we are just visiting the area) at 6:45 am, drew our blood and five minutes later, COFFEE!! Great service AND United Healthcare covers it! Couldn't be happier.
