We woke up this morning, in our old lovall valley loop home, to no working heat and a concerning smell emitting from the vents! we contacted Susan, before work hours, expressing our concern and she responded immediately! Throughout that day Susan worked to schedule a quality heating and air professional and, by the end of the day, we had been visited by a worker and had our issue completely resolved! I've lived in 2 long term rentals via Sonoma Properties and both experiences have been very positive. Susan always replied quickly to my maintenance requests as a renter. She knows very reliable plumbers, handyman, ac repairmen etc. The work was completed in a timely manner. Their tenant portal is really easy to use, submit rent payment and ask for maintenance help. Called to make an appointment for a viewer. I talked to a lady who was super rude right off the bat. She would t let me even set up an appointment to just view a place because I said I had pets. I wish I could have no stars but I will settle for one. I rented a property from Sonoma Properties and I have not rented a home in over 25 years and what a bad experience. It took four months to get a sliding door fixed is one example of how difficult it was to get anything done. The staff was dismissive and at time rude. My neighbors warned me of how difficult they were and they were right. I now own my home and moved out and even that was challenging and again, staff not kind. My suggestion, find a rental that is not represented by them. read more

We rented a property in Sonoma from this company. When we moved in, it smelled and was not clean. Even the silverware drawer ,dishes, refrigerator and microwave were dirty. The bathroom was disgusting . I had to go in with bleach and clean EVERYTHING! We complained about the mouse crap and they did nothing... When he moved out I cleaned everything and shampooed the carpet. If you rent from this company, beware... She had the nerve to charge us for half the cleaning ! read more

Never wrote a review, I felt compelled to after the phone call I just had. I called to inquire if any properties were coming available in the next month. Granted, I realize properties can come to the market at any time, but was curious if she knew of any that she could tell me ahead of time. I encountered a rude, curt and unhelpful woman. She treated me as if she was doing me a favor by speaking to me. She answered the questions I asked as if She was bored with me. I asked if she could recommend other properties that were not managed by Sonoma properties that maybe I could call. She referred me to Zillow and didn't answer my question. I asked again, if she knew of any apartment complexes that were in the area NOT managed by Sonoma properties since I will be relocating there and she said go on the websites. Would it have hurt to just name a few ? I won't rent with this company after how I was treated over the phone. read more

Firstly, it took a full 4 weeks for our application to be processed. Toward the end of that time period, we received a call from George, who was initially handling our applications. He had a few questions clarifying that it would be me, my husband, and our daughter living in the house and also that we have a dog. He did not alert us to any issues and said he was waiting on a final answer from the owners who he believed were out of town. He then emailed us to say the owners wanted to meet. We responded immediately with available dates and times and proceeded to wait another 3 business days and a weekend for a reply. Then Jennifer unexpectedly took over. She called my husband to ask the same questions George had asked plus some seemingly odd and condescending questions about his education level and if we were aware of move-in costs stated in the listing i.e. 1st months rent and deposit + an additional $500 for the pet deposit. She was very unpleasant. The day we had finally set to meet the owners, Jennifer called us a few hours ahead to inform us the owners had decided to pass on our applications because "they had found out through your social media that you have a dog" which she now claimed was not stated on our applications despite multiple correspondence about him. She also refused to provide copies of our applications, which are not accessible through their website once submitted, to confirm that claim. I have never lied about our dog on a rental application. In fact, he's an emotional support animal and I'm certain I attached his certification letter to our applications. Overall, our experience with Sonoma Properties was extremely slow, insulting, and discriminatory. Happy to report our application was denied as this company is clearly not kind, caring, or competent, and were accepted later that day for a house we were excited about. read more

Be careful with Sonoma Properties. We rented a home they managed for a few years, and upon giving them notice, they lumped in several expenses they hadn't actually incurred and ultimately had to reimburse us for. Be careful about signing the closing walk-through statement. I chose not to because I didn't agree with their assessment of the conditions. If you don't agree 100%, don't sign it. They are obligated to give you a chance to correct things yourself, but in my case they didn't. They made up fake invoices and when I called them out on their charges, they reimbursed most everything. Also, as a side note, their maintenance and repair services were just ok, but that's the owner's problem I suppose. Lastly, the person doing the final walk-through was very unprofessional creating unnecessary tension for what should just be a quick assessment of the conditons. I would recommend working with another property manager such as Woodfield Properties. I rented space from them for my business, and they were easy to work with and fair-minded the entire duration. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! 3 weeks ago I turned in a application for a house they had placed on the market 7 months before I even applied for the home, the agents name was GEORGE who was dealing with our application & told us that it NEVER takes more than 72 hrs for a response... we both paid the company 40$ each for fees & running our credit ...a week went by with no word from owner or reality company then 2 weeks so at this point I decided to contact Sonoma properties again to look at another house George once again showed us this house we told him we were not interested in the home & we still waiting on the first one we loved. Now today we're at 3 weeks no response from anyone not even George to say sorry haven't herd anything or even just a courtesy call letting us know what was going on . When I finally talKed to George he told me we did not get the second house that WE NEVER APPLIED FOR when I asked for my money back he said that our money was used for the application fees on second home .... we are beyond furious because we didn't like the second home and would have never even lived there even if we had got it.... I would noT suggest using this company they will steal your money & not return your calls!!!!!!! read more

We just leased a house through Sonoma Properties here in Sonoma and are very pleased with the help/assistance we received from George. He showed us a house we were interested in, then suggested another also while in the area ,to view in comparison, because he noticed that we were sold on the first one. He could sense that we were still wishing for more. The second house was excellent, perfectly suited to what we were looking for, and had just become available. So thanks to George showing us this property, we are moving next week and are extremely happy! - He explained the lease carefully and really thoroughly. He is extremely pleasant, very knowledgeable and we feel that he understands what we need, and he is well informed with leasing and the entire process.
